Detroit Lions Vs. Los Angeles Chargers [Today] FULL GAME Highlights | NFL Preseason 2025-2026

with the expected touchback. All right, Herbert and company ready to come out. He’s also looking for a second receiver other than Keenan Allen with the injuries to Mike Williams and Palmer as well. Here’s a first down give to Eckler and he’s got two yards. Oh, pressure one-on-one. He gets it. Allen’s still playing amazing, but Zach, they got to have someone else. Looking for an option here on second and nine. And plus down right away is Eckler after three yds. Joshua Kelly in on third down and six at running back with pressure. He got it away but incomplete. And that’s where you’re seeing all these fiveman fronts, Jim, because they have a backup center in World Clap taking one-on-one. Here’s Scott with the punt to Khalif Raymond who backpedals to about the 12. Basket catch and taken off to about the 25. 13 yd run back and tackle down by the snapper. Look at the motions. You get manner zone right now. You know if you want to run it or throw it play action they love. Well, here he is backpaddling and throwing and completing for Leaporta, the stellar rookie tight end. He’s playing good. He’s more of this kind of running back where he’s going to get you the tough yards. Here’s on second and one. Montgomery with a big opening. Got the first down with plenty to spare. Gibbs comes in coming off 189 yds from scrimmage against the Raiders. The rookie out of Alabama. G decides to go long with it on first down and he’s got St. Brown. Wow, what a big stripe here early in the game. What a play design. I talked about. Go ahead and pause it right there. This is a safety here. You’re going to see backside’s going to go behind him. This was a designed play. Hold the cover four safety down and then throw behind him. What that’s you plan that all week. You’re going to run it early in the game. You know they’re coming out in quarters type of found what looked like maybe his second or third option with a perfect ball. There’s Montgomery runs straight ahead for two. Possible head coaching candidate for next year. He’s welld deserved. So much motion screens like this. Second and eight. Here’s the toss and into the end zone is Jameson Williams. I didn’t see anything. Personal foul. Illegal home. Offense number 68. 15. Oh yeah. Your former teammate for three years. Second and 23 as Goff’s pass is intended. snapping it from the 26. He’ll give it to Gibbs. Look at that move. Tiptoeing down the sideline and out of bounds and will set up a field goal try. Pops on the hold and the Lions produce a field goal on their first possession of the game. 50/50 coin flip play. But that’s why you love Dan. He’s always in the means ball as well. All right. Fair catch signaled at the goal line by Darius Davis. Two losses, two wins, two losses, two wins, and they break that trend as they go right up their gut with Kelly for about three. And this is actually as healthy as they’ve been even though they have some big time players out. Second and eight. Pass caught and that’s a first down by Keenan Allen at the 38. Okay, they’ve got the first down at the 38. Davis has come into the slot position at the left side and there’s the pass wide to the mark. He was looking for Allen had an incredible September and we’re going to go screen here on second down. Heckler breaks it into the secondary and he’s down to the 38 yd line. Great block by Will Clap the center. If you’re not able to, you know, get the running game going, it’s another way to do it. No one’s better than Austin Eckler over the previous few years in this screen game. Pick up of 24 and he’s fired up in the passing game. Kelly’s in there now at running back. The operate from the Lions 38 on the run to the sideline and the quick catch by Allen. That’s not special. We’re not going to replay it again. He was tongue and cheek. Second and four. There’s a handoff to Kelly and there are a bunch of bodies in there waiting for him after two. Calling it now as coordinator for this Charger offense on third and two. Herbert flips it out and that’s incomplete. Would have been probably a negative play anyway had he held on to it. Now they’ll try to match the field goal of Detroit. This is 48 yds for Cameron Dicker. He’s made 14 consecutive attempts and that’s going to hook in there just right to make it 3-3. TCU earlier this year in a national championship game from last season. This is going to be a very difficult out in the playoffs and I they’re in the playoffs. I’m telling you Jim. Here’s the little pass to Amanra St. Brown. His second catch goes for another eight. Second and three. I think they’re going to break some of that stuff. It’s all coming down. Scoff loading it up and firing incomplete. And there’s the flag coming out. But he was early. So Bosus clipped and then now the speed. He can just outrun. They do everything Jim in the run game pass game. It’s as good a scheme being together as I’ve seen. Extra. It seems like he is. Look at he has the ball. Get that one. Yeah, that’s the shin. That’s going to count. Oh, they got both feet in, too. That’s an amazing play from the 33. Going for it right away. Oh, it’s tipped away at the last moment, denying I’m on Ross St. Brown a touchdown. Wow. Yeah, which is crazy, right? He’s with Chase, Jamar Chase, I believe. Yeah, I mean, he’s leading the pack in a lot of ways. Interceptions. Here’s the cut pass. Turn around. No, not a time Reynolds. The second in the NFL dropped passes and that last ball was perfect. They should have moved the chains here. Gibbs is back in. But here’s the little wide receiver screen for Raymond and he moves it down to about the 28. Fourth and five and a half. They run up and knocked up and look at that power. Nobody does that. Wow. They had him and he loves it. This call is because you trust your offensive line and it’s the right play technically versus the look. So go ahead and pause that right there. You see the left guard pulls. The safeties are back deep. So they’re one short in there. That safety has to get down in there, but you don’t expect them to run. So it’s not his fault. First and 10 at the 22. Gibbs the running back. Make it to him. Play action. sidearm throw and loss on the got a second and 12 now at the 24 and it’s back to Montgomery weaving through traffic turning the corner and he’s about four or five yds short of the first brought down by Kenneth Murray third and six and they try to get Montgomery to fight for it again and he’s close come on Jim to your fourth and five third and six let’s just hand it off in the NFL, you know, being in the mid20s, that’s where you have to endure it. You can’t be 24th and 27. Fourth and one call. St. Brown and he’s got the first even though it was tripped up by Gilman. He picked up two fourth down conversions on this drive as G throws it at the two yd line. St. Brown has another catch. Let’s just hand it off and Mashi right better. Second and goal. There’s the handoff and trying to go low. They’ve given up only nine points off turnovers this year. zero that time. Herbert tries to get the short completion. What do they need to do this offense to get things going? They’re going to all go right into the line and stand there. You’ll have all day and get people across the field and open the drop back game. Going to run it. Gibbs has two on him and a gain of three. Second and seven. Go screen. Should be there for Gibbs. got a block up ahead. Oh, and here he goes with some concern about his hands, but that was an excellent catch. It’s a dream for a quarterback. They’re already over 200 yds as a team. Total offense. Here’s Gibbs decides to take it to the right and he’s tripped up for a loss. Second and 11 traffic. It’s caught. What a catch and pass by Amanra. This is a great throw in between the safety and Mack right there. Look at that catch. That’s why you can’t just say he’s just a serviceable quarterback or anything. No. Jared G is playing highlevel football and he’s firing some of these in there that are not. He’s a local kid here in the Los Angeles area. St. Brown. The motion comes over. Now they get to their play and they change it and they get to the correct play. There’s Gibbs trying to get untangled but dropped after a game of He’s putting his staple on something that I don’t see every week. It’s really impressive. Second and goal. Going to run it for it and getting to within about a yard is Gibbs. Third and goal. Look at all the guys in there tell you got to throw this. Going to Gibbs. And it’s through his hands. And now they get up. Fourth and goal again. That means he’s got to come out and throw it inside. Going to hand it off. Here’s the hand off. And he’s across. It’s Gibbs for the touchdown. Great design call. You want to get something in the middle against that zone and they decide to run it. But this was all the right side. Watch the right tackle. Su. Watch this right here on that right side. He just slams three guys down. There’s the Fox and the fair catch signal. Sacrifices. Well done. There’s a hand off to blur and the Lions were waiting on him. Analone and others push him back, but he is still standing out. It’s flying around, but he knows like these guys all know their assignments better than it’s showing. They’re connected. Here’s second and eight. It’s a great way of saying that’s a big thing that they talk about. And right now, the connection between the front and back end, they’re playing so well together. They know when the ball’s coming out. They can sit on stuff. There’s the pass forward. Ducks for the first down. and able to spin his way out to about the 46. Great play design. You’re going to see manto man and now you got to run through a bunch of guys. Angelone to get over there and then Eckler does what Eckler does. First, third down. Third, third, three out of four on fourth. Here’s first down and it’s a first down. Great job really by the quarterback Herbert extending the play to give it time. First and 10. Rose. Oh, he had an open target there. Everett hit it with your left hand. I think that will all fix itself. Second and 10. Swings it out. That’s Davis. Little speedster out of TCU. And there’s a guy that can give them some excitement. You know, I asked you were there when I asked Herbert how much that’s affecting him as far as his passing numbers. And of course, he would deny it. Here’s up tempo and a quick dive for the first down, which they get. First down now at the Lions 30 going for the big one to the end zone. What a throw. Touchdown Chargers Allen. This was not bad defense. This is just Keenan Allen being better than most players. It’s a post with a little whittle in the middle. Franchise quarterback there. Watch. In, out, and then back in. And that ball needs to be on a rope from 40 yds away. It was there’s not many guys who can make that throw. That’s why seems crazy. Just hasn’t had enough help. But that was some kind of Here they come. They pick it up. Get the pass away and it’s caught by Johnston. That’s the time that you’ll have cuz the D line get in there tight and they’re trying to play the run. That’s why they’re so good at it. Here’s Herbert. Look at that. A little sidearm action. Close underhand. That could hurt there, huh? You don’t have the under center play action game. the way to run it right and left. That’s going to open this up. That’s big going forward. Here comes another blitz. Herbert throws. Allen catches. They’re down at the 11 yd line. Eckler picked up the blitz to allow the play to happen. Just an outstanding route. Makes him feel like it’s third and two. He slows down and you know with just that’s that next level instincts to make him feel third and two. It’s a short route. It’s here or he keeps it or you throw it really quickly out to the receiver. You throw across the middle and it’s incomplete. Trying to hit. They need it. 29 seconds to go in the half. Got to motion someone back and forth. It’s zone coverage inside. Hand it off. There it is to Eckler. Driving. Driving. It’s close. Chargers think they have it. Detroit says we’ve denied it. Official on the far side says touchdown. Maybe next week that extra point is good by Dicker. If you go back 2 and 1/2 years since the start of the 21 season, he’s got the most touchdowns in the league by 13 over the second most which is a quarterback. This team is not far off. They’re a whole lineman away, you know, in this offseason one or two and then all of a sudden this thing just takes off. That was a pass play to Jameson Williams and he’s stood up by Murray. Let go of me. He says, “Hey, knock it off.” Some of the play action down the field. They’re going to be one-on-one and you got to have these corners. Try and stay in it, but you’ve got to load the box, Jim. I mean, that’s We got to reset. We got to play a lot better in the second half. Appreciate it. Thanks. He’s gone rolling, throwing, and is knocked out of the hands. Then you got these five big guys right on the line of scrimmage and that makes it hard to run. Second and 10 and that’s tight coverage by Derwin James on Laorta. So he had what, four for 76 in the first half. One of the best. He’s at the top. Here’s G looking his way. Goes another direction. What a hit to stop him short of the first down. Oh, it’s going to get a flag on Derwin James. Personal foul. Unnecessary roughness defense number three. 15 yd penalty will be added to the dead ball spot. First down on the secondary. First and 10. Hand off to Gibbs. I think that one was close though, Jim, because he didn’t look like he was using the shoulder. Now he’s getting down in there. They were back earlier in the game. He’s going to have to make some plays. There’s golf with a beautiful laser again. He throws a beautiful football one of the tightest spirals with a lot of zip on play as James comes up and gets the tackle behind the line of scrimmage on Gibbs. Missile right here. He’s right up there and watch him just come flying in and time that perfectly and get down in there. And you wouldn’t run that ball right there, Jim, if you thought he was blitzing. Second and 13 now from the 37. Incomplete and sailed. Looking for Gibbs out of the back field and that’s incomplete. James broke it up. So he comes back after being deflated with the penalty call. Interesting. They’re not going to go for the 55 yd punt field goal. They’re going to go punt with Fox instead. Why do you think? Well, you know, Riley Patterson in 31 career games has only had five attempts from 50 plus will be taking place inside this very building, this spectacular stadium. Here’s first and 10 at Cook out the back field and he’s got about four, maybe five. Second and five. Little play action this time down the middle of Oh, he’s got it. The flag comes flying in. He could have broken that one. Johnston and it’s going to be a penalty against the Lions. Pass interference defense number 23. The ball will be placed at the spot on the foul. Automatic first down. Out to the 29. Kelly and we go from Kelly to Kevin Moore who came into the league. Obviously, you have to do it more with your injuries, and that’s good coaching, finding a new way. Second and six. There’s a first down. First down. Parham to the 49. And all that time you spent with Moore in the quarterback room. The Lions are about to switch. They brought him down now. That’s when you throw it outside the numbers. Here it is. Barham and they fall on him. Analone for a gain of only about three. Motion him down and get somebody inside. Second and eight down the field and is it pull down incomplete? Almost. Analone on the coverage of Stone Smart. Jacobs has come back in. He’s at the top. He’s on to Ricky Johnston. Someone’s got to get their head around quickly. Right there. Third and eight. Oh, wide open to Allen. And the Chargers keep on moving. Picked up 12 up the middle. Kelly falls forward for a bounce four time inside for a little to Gayton. He’s pushed back. Allen’s coming over to his side. Got time and it’s caught by Allen. That’s the fourth time he’s found Keenan Allen on a third down conversion. But they’re getting tighter. You see that? There’s Herbert down the middle. It’s Gayton. He steps up and scores the touchdown. Freddy when you call on him. I mean, this is another crazy next level throw. It’s a great play design by Kell Moore to set it up. Gton pretends he’s going to block and then boom. Boy, that was again threaded between two defenders. Had so much zip on it. It’s why they’re so dangerous and they’re never going to make that type of throw. We’re tied at 24. Remember, this is a drive that started back at the eight after the Lions bypass growth and potential to be a big part of things. So, that’s his first touchdown in two years. Ties the game. It’s a good one to have on two. They needed that. Allen one is so important. What comes out of that first down give Montgomery that might have been the Best stop I’ve seen the Chargers D. He was a captain for our team and he was a backup and it shows you the respect he has from our entire team. Second and eight and that’s three yards short of first. Here’s a third and three and look at zip that one for the first down of the year in the NFL with a win at Arrowhead. That changed everything right there. I promise you chugging along for a nice gain. He’s up now to 117 on the ground. To me, that’s where this team has really turned that corner. Once they beat Mahomes, once they did that run last year, they came out and proved it. Now they expect to win. Second and two side on toss and it’s incomplete going to Brock Wright. Having someone make a play on third and two to keep that winning right now. Pop finds him. Wow. Roman Ros St. Brown down to the 20. He’s over 100. Four in a row. It’s actually a corner blitz and this was a perfect play call and Jared G was all over it. I want you to watch right here. You got the blitz coming in. So, the safety is going to have to take him.
