So, could the Pittsburgh Pirates be trading away David Bednar to the New York Yankees this 2025 MLB trade deadline? Well, here on the screen is a tweet on X from MLB deadline news which says the Yankees have been in contact with the Pirates about multiple players and Pittsburgh right-handed pitcher David Bednar is one of New York Yankees targets per John Haymon. So, a little bit loose of a rumor, I will admit, but would it have surprised me if David Ber was dealt this season either today or tomorrow? No, it wouldn’t. Uh, just kind of given that the Pirates have had so far with them trading to Brian Hayes, you know, earlier today. David Bednar makes a lot of sense for him to go. Um, he is under team control for this for next year coming up as well. So unlike some other relief players available on the market, he actually isn’t a one-year rental and instead, you know, get the rest of you get you get him for the rest of this year as well as next year at a pretty decent dollar value. So David Bednar, a little bit older of a player, 31 years old, is having himself a really good year, like given the fact that the that the Pirates are terrible, his stats are pretty awesome. 1.2 war, two wins, five losses, an RA of 2.37, uh 17 saves, and 42 games played. uh 38 innings, pitch with 51 strikeouts, and a whip of 1.105. So, if David Bernar were to go to this Yankees team, he would bolster their bullpen tremendously. Uh David Bednar is a really solid relief pitcher, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Yankees wanted to add that uh you know, this season. Yankees, the Yankees are in a dog fight. There’s no other way to put it in the American League this season, right? You know, they have Tampa Bay on their tail. Uh the Red Sox are of course right behind them. The Jays are slightly ahead of them. So the AL is actually a very competitive division this year, the AL East. And I think if they’re able to solidify their bullpen, if they’re to sneak into the playoffs, they could have an advantage that way. And this is a move the Yankees have to make in my opinion. Like they have to bolster their team somehow. And David Bednar, if he is in fact available, makes a ton of sense for them, but the asking price for them is going to be somewhat decent and the Yankees are going to probably have to give up some pitching prospects in return. But a trade can definitely be had and I think that David Bednar going to the Yankees, as I mentioned before, makes a ton of sense. This would be a great move for them. and it makes the Yankees, I would say, contenders if they aren’t already in the American League East Conference to reach the World Series and potentially win a championship when it’s all said and done. So, I love the idea of David Bard getting traded to the Yankees. The only question mark to me is that what is a what what is a David Bard trade uh to the Yankees look like?
