Film Study: Bucs Edge Chris Braswell Looking For Jump in Year 2
your thoughts on on losing him? Oh, that’s that’s correct. Um, he was making a big impact early. Obviously, we were counting on him to do a lot of things, but we got other guys that have to step up and I told him he has to look at this as a red shirt year and it’s unfortunate. Didn’t look like it was too much on film, but it ended up being that. Hello, Bucks fans. Welcome back to Real Bucks Talk. I’m super excited to just talk football. It’s been a great off seasonason so far for the Buccaneers, but um at the same time, I’m just really happy that the season is getting closer and closer as as we take each day. The Buccaneers are in training camp. They are starting to have Pday practices, which is really cool. But as you guys found out yesterday, the news broke, uh, Bucks rookie fourthround pick, David Walker, uh, suffered a torn ACL during Friday’s practice and will undergo season ending surgery. And he was showing up. He was going to be a big part of this defense or at least have a bigger role than I think most people expected. And it’s just unfortunate that his season is over before it even started. Uh, as you heard Todd Bulls say, you know, he was really showing up and showing a lot of promise. As it shows here in the tweet, he was doing a lot of the right things and getting better. It’s just, you know, it’s just part of football. You know, injuries do happen. So, it just it stinks that David Walker is going to be out for the year. But what does that mean for the Buccaneers at the edge edge position? We talked about Assan Reic and his impact in the in the last video and what could that do for others, you know, surrounding him. You know, Yaya, I think, is poised to have a breakout season this year and really put himself on the map. But in today’s video, I really want to talk about another edge rusher, the Buccaneers second round pick last year, and that is Chris Brazwell out of Alabama. I think this guy could have an opportunity to really come on. He came on towards the end of last season. He started to get more pressures, more wins per pass rush. Uh he was getting into the backfield more, just playing faster, playing more free, and it seemed like, you know, there was a certain moment in the season when where things started to slow down for him, started to click. Uh and apparently he is in great shape. He’s been side by side next to Yaya and that’s really cool. Got it into uh you know lost some weight, got faster, got leaner, more muscle mass. So he’s been impressive so far early in camp as by by all accounts he’s been doing uh everything right and causing havoc. So hopefully Chris Brazwell can take that leap. I know Jason Light, the coaching staff have talking very highly or spoken very highly of him and they fully expect him to make that kind of jump in year two. And if he can, if he can be that third edge rusher off the bench and provide spark and just be that extra force back there behind Reic and Yaya. I think that makes the defense that much better when you can have a guy like this that can come in and create some type of impact, you know, and force the quarterback into, you know, worse decisions. That’s going to be the the main factors for this defense. Can they get to the quarterback more? Can they force more turnovers, more stra, you know, more sack fumbles, more interceptions? that has been the the main discussion throughout the offseason. But Chris Brazwell, I really did enjoy his tape at Alabama. We broke, you know, his film down when he was drafted and there was a lot of things where, you know, he had the long arm, he had power, he had speed off the edge. So, there’s a lot of traits to his game that, you know, translate at the next level. And when you look at his numbers, again, not nothing, you know, blows you off the page. He had 11 solo tackles, one and a half sacks. Again, playing time was up and down last year, but I think towards like the very later part of the season, you saw increase in in production and just being a more consistent player uh throughout. So, and he was he was starting to really show things. I think he showed well in the playoff game against Washington. Um, and then in the regular season, I thought he did some good things too towards the end. But yeah, I mean, he definitely is going to be called upon to step up here and it’ll be intriguing to watch in the preeason and, you know, early part of the season, see how he does and see if he can take that next step. But with that said, let’s jump into some film and we’re gonna break down about five or six uh plays here and just talk more about Chris Brazwell. All right, guys. We are back and we’re going to just break down some film here of Chris Brazwell. He’s lined up wide here on on the right tackle side and he’s just going to do a good job of showing his burst and athleticism here. As we let this play run, you’re going to see just how quick he can be and how much of a factor that plays. So, you see the just the burst and that the little hob step that he has. He has a tendency to go to this move often, but he keeps it simple. And I like how he just he just bursts right here, hop steps through, continues to move his feet, and gets the sack on Bryce Young. Now, granted, the right tackle wasn’t even looking at Brazwell as he was, you know, going back and Brazwell’s already by him. So, you can see that athleticism there again. Good finish and good poise to complete the play. So, that was really cool to see. Um, and we’ll continue on. Now, here again, they can do different things with him. I think this is what I like most about his game. Again, lined up here. You see him lined up there and he’s going to loop all the way around and get pressure on Bo Nicks here. So, um, just watch this as how he translates, move his feet very fluidly, goes all the way around the traffic, and then he’s able to get pressure on Boick. So, that was pretty cool. Want to see more of that, like utilize his athletic gifts a little bit more. You see him here again just coming off the wide nine and ability to show impact there. you know, quick burst just goes right by the tackle and at least gets a quarterback hit. Pressure on the QB, forces this ball to be incomplete. So, really good stuff there. And again here, just he’s always pressuring that outside shoulder, which I respect. I think that is something that you know Simeon Rice and Yaya talked about you know providing that fast ball constantly you know using speed showing the speed to to power again he does that hop step euro step dip and rip I would say that is probably his go-to move and again he gets probably a half a sack here really good job and then here same thing like just showing the ability to change up and utilize that power. You see it here like he is going to drive into this tackle here and does a great job of showing that power again maintaining balance as he’s driving through. He does fall down, but he does a good job of regaining position and always moving those those feet. You know, driving with his legs and forcing a hurry throw from the quarterback ends up being incomplete. So, a lot of good things here from Brazwell. Again, continue on showing the long arm. You see the long arm here where he’s able to get into the chest plate of the tackle being able to drive him back and push off. So he gets off, shows the speed, forces that quarterback to rush outside. Almost gets another sack again. Just always moving is what I respect about him and that was really nice to see. So there’s a couple things, you know, to like about Brazwell. I think he can continue to get better as we as we move into year two, but a lot of positives that he showed, especially late late in season last year, and you hope he can build off from that and continue to add to his repertoire and hopefully become a player the Buccaneers can count on, especially as that third edge rusher um moving into 2025. But let us know what you guys think. Hope you enjoyed this video. Uh, be sure to hit the like button. Comment down below your thoughts of Chris Brazwell and also the the news about David Walker. It’s unfortunate. Uh, but let us know what you think. And with that said, until the next one. Chris Brazwell, you were telling us OTAA is going to see improvements in some areas, but what have you seen in the beginning of training camp? He’s playing faster. He’s more comfortable in the scheme. I think he’s gotten a little bit leaner, if not by weight, by muscle, and he’s coming off the ball a lot faster. And he’s using his hands. and Heaya have been tied at the hip this off season.
Bucs lost 4th round pick David Walker for the season, more eyes will shift towards 2nd Rd Pick from last year in Chris Braswell as the team expects him to make a year 2 jump in level of play…

Yeah, he was a bit of a disappointment. Expected more from him as a pass rusher since he was tops in pressures and among best in pressure rates in college, iirc.
Same thing y'all said about JTS for 4 years. 🤦🙄
Never was big on Braswell thought he was a reach pick originally so hopefully we see something
Hope he has a breakout year !!! GO BUCS !!!
Chris Braswell 😒🥱…go Bucs 🏴☠️🏴☠️
I feel so sorry for the guy. Missing this year with a torn ACL is terrible. That can robbe his speed and confidence. Second his age. Is a total misfortune. I hope for him a fast recovery and that he can came back like it never happened. 🙏
He is looking better, I saw him on Tuesday, and now it was against backups. I didn't saw him lineup against Luke.
