Yankees vs. Marlins Game Highlights (8/2/25) | MLB Highlights

On in. We’re about ready for takeoff here from Lone Depot Park this afternoon. Another huge crowd expected this afternoon last night. It was just another night for Jacob Marcy on base three times , a couple of walks and he got his first big league knock. He’s back in center field for the Marlins in game two of this three game weekend series against the New York Yankees this afternoon. Mound for the Marlins coming off a terrific July. It’s the hard throwing right hander. Yuri Perez in July. Yuri was 3 to 1 and a 1.29 earned run average in five starts. Grisham two for four with a homer and three RBS in game one. Looks like there’s trouble with the pitch. We’re seeing more and more of this of late and the 3 to 2 and he walked up kind of threw off the rhythm. I thought of that at bat with a couple of stops and with the pitch com for Yuri Perez, here’s dominguez three hits yesterday. A swing and a miss good slider from here, first strikeout of the ball game for the Marlins right hander. What a great test for any pitcher, especially a 22 year old to have the disruptions that he’s had make some good pitches and good breaking ball there to put away a guy who had three hits last night, Jason Dominguez that will bring Bellinger to the plate for the Yankees and the pitch runner goes to second. That’s the first stolen base of the year for Grisham. Yeah, this is definitely something that the Yankees came into this series. We talked about the problems with the Marlins over 10%. Look, he’s not even 100%. He can still steal the bases easily. Well, hicks now four for 38 catching, attempted base stealers. Bellinger reached for that. It sounded like he got a piece but Hicks caught it. It was a slow curveball and cody Bellinger loses the battle on the 10th pitch. It was a foul tip. Bellinger is making his case with the home plate umpire Alex mckay that that ball hit the ground, but I don’t think he’s got a case back to back strikeouts for Yuri after the leadoff walk to Grisham who is still stuck at second base. Now there’s two outs for Stanton that is Rick into left field down for a base hit Grisham will try to score. Here comes the throw on the money. What a throw by kyle Stowers in left, smoked off the bat at 100 and 11 miles an hour. Stoer got it on a couple of hops. He came up firing and he had Grisham dead to rights at the plate beat him by 10 ft in the inning is over Hill coming back and Stroman being released is part of this rotation. You talk about his fastball. He has been averaging 98 on his fastball only 2, 19 average against it. Xavier Edwards leads up 02 fastball strike three called Edwards is saying, hey, not close was adamant that was a strike, take a seat. Now that was a 98 mile an hour fastball at worst. Cam Schlitter has a fastball that plays all by itself sto who threw out Trent Grisham by what 20 ft swing and a miss 99 miles an hour, it was Augustine ramirez who proved to be a big part of the Marlins win last night and that is ripped in the air deep to left way out of here for Augustine. He just one up Stanton in the exit velocity department. You talk about a solid base. This creates this type of swing. Enjoying the moment is Augustine ramirez against his former organization, the New York Yankees 16 of the year. And you know, there have been some bad tosses and bad flips so far. A little edgy between these two teams. Chisholm in a little bit of a slump, three hits and 23 at bats with nine strikeouts during that time. Fastball. Wow. A catcher Hicks held it there a long time. That was a 5050 call ball four. Jazz is aboard to open up the second inning. So here’s Paul Goldschmidt slumping in his last seven games , just two hits and 21 at bats pop them up Edwards coming back on to the dirt. He’s got it. There’s two away throw to first , got him. Oh, wow. Heads up for. And what a bizarre read from the former Marlin Jazz Chisholm 4 to 3 on the pop up double play and Chisholm is out on the pace pads. Wow. Well, when the inning ended, he stays out on the field. Somebody brings him his glove. He goes right to second. This is the first time he entered the dugout. And aaron Boone, you can see walking him down the runway. He had some things. Here is Jacob Marcy first big league game yesterday got a double three walks, 31 in the year to right field. This is deep Bellinger going back. He’ll give it a look and it’s off the wall on his way to second Marcy. He’s got a pair of hits in the big leagues. He’s got a pair of doubles and he just missed his first homer. Oh, yeah, mom and dad getting into it now it’s getting old hat. Just take that inside fastball on a 31 pitch. Got himself in great count leverage and took advantage of it. Runner goes the road to third Ghana, Ben Rice with a bullet to Mcmahon, placing the tag on Morsey. All you explain this one, Michael stealing third with two outs. I don’t know, it’s a different game. Paul here is ramirez. He’s the only blemish against Schlitter so far in the air to left center. Got a chance. Come on, baby gone, Steve ramirez. As in his second, as many at bats against his former organization, the Yankees two solo shots. Rice hit the ball hard, fairly deep right center but was run down by Marcy that was in the second and he rips this one to right field on the run is myers. He’s not going to get there and it’s off the base of the wall. Rice is at second with a one out double and a walk. So 1st and 2nd 1 man out Yankees have a chance here. The red hot ryan Mcmahon got him fastball at the knees, locks him up and we, we showed you the graphic of the success he’s had with that four. Seamer here it is just creasing a piece of the strike zone at the lower part here is Volpi had a huge night last night. Ground ball hit softly left side. Poley cuts off Lopez it to the inning is over and Yuri Perez Strands two, we’re halfway home. It’s 2 to 0. Marlins. So here is Xavier Edwards Edwards zero for two against Schler and down goes Edwards two away by being ahead in the count. You can throw that breaking ball down and in to lefties and get the swing and a miss. So here’s ST Wener goes strike three ST down for the third time. That indeed is baseball. That guy had a fabulous night last evening and he can’t get arrested here this afternoon. He’s zero for three with three strikeouts. Tyler Phillips is on the pitch for the Marlins. A lot of character when he’s on the mound, he’s a competitor. He really likes to pump himself up and a lot of character when he’s on the mound, he is a competitor. But when he goes into the game, he wants to make sure he’s ready for that as he gets one pitch, a ground out for the first out, really just enjoying themselves out there. And they think that that’s part of the reason why they’re finding so much success nicely done by Xavier Edwards. Thank you very much, Kelly. And there’s two away here in the no runs, two hits for the Yankees this afternoon, popped him up sky high right side of the infield. First baseman Wagman underneath , drifting to the spot. He makes the catch in the inning is over. We go to the top of the ninth and the top of the order is due up for the New York Yankees. And on the pitch for the Miami Marlins is Calvin Foer. See some cutters and sweepers curveball. See if Calvin Fouchier can nail down save number 11. Rip to second A has got it. Two pitches one out. That’s 12 in a row. The, the Marlins have retired since that double off the bat of Rice in the fifth inning. Dominguez zero for three today. Take a seat two away. Uh, the cutter just kept pouring in on Dominguez last licks for Bellinger o’shea trying to lock it down. 21 chopper to first should do it ball gate over six straight series wins for the Marlins and they blank the Yankees 20 here today when you have the pitching that the Marlins had today, Yuri six incredible innings. Enriquez Phillips Faucher picking up save number 11 and Then you just turn it over the offense to Augustine Ramirez with two rocket shots. That’s how you put together a two to nothing victory.

  1. If otto lopez got any of that baseball that was belted to left field by Stanton, Trent Grisham would have scored in the first inning because the ball would have slown down.
