Paul skenes throws the gauntlet down on bob nutting and ben cherington once again by saying they need to spend for some bats. Here's the exact quote from skenes.

And perhaps more notably, the two-time All-Star is hopeful the departures of Hayes and Bednar have created enough spending money to address the roster’s main flaws over the winter.

“Hopefully it also created some space for us to acquire some bats in the offseason,” Skenes said. “Didn’t see a lot in terms of major league [acquisitions] at the deadline, but hopefully that sets us up next year, very well through the guys that we acquired who are in Triple-A, or like I said, with that space in the offseason to pick up some bats.”

  1. He’s saying things in the nicest way possible by repeatedly saying ‘GET US SOME DAMN OFFENSE’.

  2. This made me remember…. when Huntington’s drafts would always be for the “signable” guy instead of the best player. Cherrington’s trades are an extension of this thinking and it’s too smart by half. Basically, you’re handcuffing yourself right out of the gate..

Yes, we know It all starts at the top (Nutting) but even so, you can also be good at your job in spite of the massive limitations. We, my friends, do not have that in a GM whatsoever.

  3. That Skenes post trade press conference is gonna be an all-timer. He will be spitting more fire than an Eminem freestyle.

  4. I refused to believe he would be traded this off-season, but now I think there’s a 50% chance he does get traded at this point
