BREAKING: New York Jets Release First “UNOFFICIAL” Depth Chart!

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, the New York Jets just released their first unofficial depth chart of the off season. Now, first kind of takeaway, uh, before even looking at the list, it’s tough to put a lot of stock in this just because A, it’s, you know, it’s unofficial, b, we haven’t even played a preseason game yet, and then C, there’s always a learning curve for the younger guys, right? They’re, uh, expected jumps from the first day of camp to the last day of camp are expected to be pretty big, right? As the game starts to slow down, as they start picking up the system, as they start getting used to, you know, going up against professionals every every single day in training camp, the expectation for younger players is, okay, you know what, start low on the depth chart. And we see this uh a lot really every year. Uh it’s very rare that you see, you know, a fifth rounder slotted in with the first team in the unofficial depth chart. Normally, you have to kind of work your way up um if you are whether you’re a rookie or an undrafted free agent or what have you. But anyway, let’s dive into this thing. Now, the first thing that just jumps right off the page here, Justin Fields, quarterback one, we already know this, but the Jets actually confirmed it on their website. Basically just saying it’s Justin’s job. He is going to be the starting quarterback of this football team, and it is what it is against the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think the second takeaway here is the center position, right, with Joe Tipman. So, Titman’s listed as the starter right now, and as we all know, he’s currently in that center positional battle with Josh Meyers. Now, you can make arguments for both players. You know, Titman, he’s a young, controllable player coming off a great year, uh, with still room in the tank to get better. With Josh Meyers, he has experience with Justin Fields. He has experience going up against coach Aaron Glenn. He’s a proven veteran, proven veteran in this league who started a bunch of games. So, you don’t really think there’s going to be a lot of mistakes there. So, it’s a fun battle. I like the idea of, you know, having competition here. But um yeah, in the case of this whole thing, it’s looking like Joe Tipman is that right now unofficial starting center. And moving right down the list, we have Arman Meu as the starting right tackle. Again, expected here, but just really cool to see that he’s earned his spot right now at this stage of the offseason. Here’s something interesting. Jeremy Rucker listed as tight end one of this team. Mason Taylor, tight end two. Now, this is something that I’m expecting to change at some point. Um, unless Rucker just completely blows up this off seasonason, right, just is shredding teams in preeason and is looking like the man, then awesome, right? It’s a good problem to have. But until we get that maybe confirmation, I’m I’m just going to opt to Mason Taylor, right? Three years of Rucker, you kind of feel like he was given the most opportunities last season and for some reason last year was the most disappointing season of his career. And it sucks because I want him to do well. you know, I he was a guy who I was pulling for out of Ohio State, but uh we do have to look at where we’re currently at. And I think right now Mason Taylor, because he’s such a young player, because we’ve seen him perform at the SEC at such a high level year after year after year, getting better year after year after year, I think NFL, regular season NFL experience is going to be huge for Mason Taylor’s development. Like, that’s a guy who I don’t really want on the bench. That’s someone who I feel like, hey, you know what? I can put him in uh week one, have him make some plays, even if it’s just for a couple catches, right? Three catches, four catches. I just feel like he can take massive strides throughout the course of a season. If we take a look at wide receiver, Josh Reynolds is pencled in as the wide receiver, too. Supposedly, he’s been making plays, which is awesome, but I still feel like we we could definitely use some talent there. And if we flip over to the defensive side of the football, man, we have some pretty interesting stuff here. So, first things first, Michael Clemens is the starting edge rusher right next to Will McDonald. Now, clearly Germaine Johnson is, you know, missing time. He’s missing reps. Someone had to step up. It seems like Michael Clemens is having a really good camp. Um, but we’ve heard that before. So, you know, I really want to see it in preseason. You know, I I get it. Different scheme, different coaching staff, but Clemens has been with the Jets for, you know, a couple years now. We’re all kind of waiting to see that next step. Um cuz we’ve heard there’s always been hype. There’s always been a lot of hype with Michael Clemens, his power, his overall strength, ability to like set the edge in practice. But it, you know, for some reason it’s just not really translating to game days. So, uh it is obviously a positive sign that he’s having, you know, an impressive camp, but for me, I just need to see it in the preseason first. Next up, Byron Cohort, former Chicago Bear, listed as the starting DTackle next to Quinn and Williams. Now, Derek Naughty behind Cohort. Uh that’s expected. And then Tule, Leonard Taylor behind Quinn. That other DTackle position is such a question mark at this point in time. Cohort supposedly has had a good camp. Uh much like Michael Clemens, but it still feels like, hey, it’s a major position of need. Now Pton Paige is turning some heads. I really like Leonard Taylor’s upside. That’s really good, right? Fedarian Matthysse, former uh second round pick from Washington or from Alabama made by Washington a couple years ago. But, you know, it still feels like it’s a spot where, hey, if someone becomes available, if maybe someone gets cut, a young player or an overpriced veteran or something, all of a sudden they hit the market. I could see the Jets maybe pouncing on a situation like that. But until then, they brought in a lot of different vets. We’ve seen back in Detroit the attention, the focus that they put on the defensive tackle, really the whole entire defensive line. Like, they continue to work at it. they continue to improve it. Um, so yeah, that’s the right now the August 3rd starting defensive line. Will McDonald Q Cohort and Clemens? Now, this has been a question that’s popped up, but uh, McCrae Ball is listed as the weak side linebacker one. This to me, I think, is the smart move here. I liked McCrae Ball, what he’s been able to do in preseason. And there’s been some talk, okay, well, if you, you know, draft Maaga um in the later rounds out of Miami for the Jets, why don’t you list him as a starting linebacker out of the three? You know, assuming it’s going to be a 4-3 setup. I just don’t really feel like he his skill set is best at that weak side position. I think really the best case scenario for Malawaga would be to back up Jamon Sherwood as the middle linebacker of this football team. And that’s exactly where Aaron Glenn and uh Steve Wols have him listed at right now. Zyer Barnes behind Quincy Williams as that strong side linebacker. Moving on to corner, here’s what’s interesting. Okay, Thomas has had a good camp, but he’s listed right now as the corner five. Again, this is unofficial here, but I will say, you know, going back to kind of the start of the video, you like for a third round guy, a fourth round guy, like you could throw Aryan Smith into the mix as well. Um, I just don’t see the Jets listing these guys high on the unofficial depth chart before preseason. You kind of want to just opt to or give the benefit of the doubt to the veterans. But Thomas is corner five. And then last but not least here, just looking at the safety position. Uh, Malachi Moore is listed behind Andre Cisco, which I think is interesting. Monroe behind Moore, he’s had a good camp, but Tony Adams still penciled in as the starter. Maybe this is the same situation that we were just talking about before where, you know, you have Moore, you have Monroe as the two younger players and then Adams and Cisco, uh, the two guys that have seen the most experience out of the group. They’re pencled in as starters. But, uh, I could Cisco’s going to be a starter. I love Cisco. I think he’s going to, honestly, I think he’s going to have an like a fantastic fantastic season. That’s not me overrating him. That’s what I truly believe. Tony Adams, on the other hand, I’m not sure. I could maybe see him start the year off or I could see Malachi Moore start the year off or maybe Moore enters the mix midway through the season as the starter. Uh it’s interesting. I I just really love Malachi Moore’s fit in this defense. So yeah, anyway, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. First unofficial depth chart of the New York Jets. Here we go. We got the first preseason game next week. Thanks so much for watching and as always, go Jets.

  1. We can tell how excited you are when you banged ya arm on the mic 😂😂😂 we love it ian were just as fired upas you brother!! 💚🤍

  2. i don’t think there is really a battle for center. i think everyone is making it more than what it is. tippmann is better & younger. it’s that simple lol

  3. Not entirely surprising with some of the entries. Putting someone lower on the depth chart can motivate them to work harder for keep their edge. Putting Ruckert above Taylor to me is likely recognizing Mason has never played a snap in the NFL, rather than Ruckert being better.

My big hope is that Glenn uses the pre season to get players game experience and by the last game have had probable starters saying. I think the fear of injuries has really made the first weeks of the season hard to watch, especially as a Jets fan. Under Saleh the starters often looked like the rawest rookies out there.

With Clemons as much as I didn't like him under Saleh I also think he deserves a chance. There is a big difference, under Saleh Clemons was out there, sloppy play or no. With Glenn he looks bad, is undisciplined, we won't see him trotted out there game after game.

  4. I think ruckert will flourish in this system the potential is there for him to be a starter in this league also how has JBC done at corner so far in camp ?

  5. im getting 2017 jets vibes except the QB is worse and the D is better, oh and garrett wilson. im thinkin the tank is on ian. a washed up josh reynolds is WR2 in a passing league. jets are toast

  6. Key word is unofficial. People are overreacting about Ruckert being TE1. Pre-season will make changes every week. And hes a rookie. Hes got to show it on the field against opposing teams at full speed. I think we all know Taylor will start. Just calm down lol
