The Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Day 9 Was Actually INSANE… | Steelers News |

And here we go. Another day here in Pittsburgh for Steelers training camp. You got Will Howard, Aaron Rodgers, DK Metaf, and so much more. We’re going to break down everything you need to know about another practice. Big shout out to some of the fans. Robbie, my guy, going to practice. He’s uh, you know, killing it out there. So, if you want to go follow him, he covers the Steelers. He does a great job of doing so as well. Make sure you guys just go give him a follow, man. Um, but with that being said, we’re going to break down news, notes, highlights, observations from the last couple of days. Now, all these highlights aren’t going to be from today’s practice, but we’re going to have a lot of information about who looked good in today’s practice. Now, this is a play that I wanted to show you guys. We’re going to get a little bit of pre-step motion. Looks like it could be man-to-man coverage. And as we drop back, we’re noticing right away this is clearly zone coverage. We’re getting a corner route um with a one-on-one opportunity with the safety. Now, as we see this linebacker allow that space to kind of take place, we know it’s zone, right? So, either way, it’s a one-on-one matchup because this DB kind of stays down and Juan Thornnehill makes an incredible play on the football. Um, good break, but I do think this is a solid decision by the offense. I believe this is Will Howard. can’t specifically see the number there, but either way, I like the idea. Ultimately, Juan Thornnehill comes away with the big time play, and I do think he’s going to be a nice little player on the secondary um alongside Jaylen Ramsay and Joey Porter and Darius Slay and Deshawn Elliot. I really do like this DB room. I think it’s one of the best they’ve had in a while. Even though they lost Ma, it’s tough. Here’s another one starting offense. Now, obviously, this is just sevens. There’s no 11on11 work in today’s specific practice. Um, now we’re going to see Aaron Rogers at the quarterback starting unit. First, all right, I’m going to show you the clip. I do this so much where I just got to break it down before it happens. Uh, but the first thing that we notice on this play, guys, was that a fumble? Late fumble is we see off coverage. Do you see how much space they’re giving between DK Mechaf here? All right, that is a ton of separation. So, whenever a quarterback sees this for the most part and know that it’s one-on-one coverage, right, they will usually hot check this too and out, right? Or a comeback route because they know there’s no safety help over the top over here, right? So, essentially, we get priest that motion. We see someone cross the formation with our guy. Okay, Roger’s like, man coverage. We got an L route off coverage. Perfect. We like this every single time. The only way we don’t like it is if this linebacker boots over there quickly, which he doesn’t do right now. They basically give him the outside. We prematurely throw this perfectly. Now DK could just easily get out of bounds. He tries to make a play, loses the football. We also get a flag on the play as well. Not sure what it is. Maybe a face mask or something. I’m not too sure, but this is a perfect read by Aaron Rogers. Maybe trying to do a little bit too much there and ultimately fumbles the ball. Um, but again, offense. Good play. Look at this. So, we got two on twos right here. You got two receivers, you got two DBs. Look at this play. This one is amazing right here. So, what we’re going to do is we’re going to have this guy slant. We’re going to come up like we’re going to set that screen and then we’re kind of going to slant over the middle. So, again, the these routes right here very tough to stop on two situations. And this is why in NFL games, you’ll see a lot of teams like to overload one side and have just two guys because they can run plays like this. This is Skyler Thompson as a quarterback. We’re going to get a quick kind of shallow drag or a quick slant over the middle. Now, DBs in this situation are tough. Okay? They play a certain defense where this guy right here takes whoever breaks inside. Okay? So, for example, if this guy breaks here, you got him, right? If this guy comes over and this guy breaks out, you got the guy that goes to the middle of the field, right? So, they’re taught to do that and then boom, they don’t switch perfectly. This guy does, this guy doesn’t. It’s just a perfect play by the offense. Watch it one more time. Beautiful job by DK. Anticipation of the throw needs to be a little bit better, but again, it works out perfectly. Like, right, boom, throw the ball. Ball needs to be out. But again, ends up working either way. It’s perfect. Great job by Skyler Thompson and DK Mechf in this offense drawing up that play. Outstanding. Here’s another one. Again, this is from my guy uh Steelers W. Robbie. Go follow him if you haven’t already done so. where again we’re going to get this two on two opportunity. Looks like we got really off coverage here again. Let me show you the clip. We’ll see what we see again. Looks like one of those same things manto man this time. They’re not switching. They just want to stay manto man. That’s why they’re coming down off coverage because they don’t want that pick play to happen again. So essentially we’re looks like we’re going to get like a zig over here. Then we’re going to go slot fade with this slot receiver again. Let’s watch again. He tries to get in the way. DB just kind of goes over it. Now we get a one-on-one opportunity. So that becomes a yes no read for the quarterback where we’re throwing that almost every single day of the week just because we like our guy more than we like that DB. Ultimately DB makes the play on the football. I believe that’s Deshawn Elliot. Let me actually check. Yeah, Deshawn Elliott gets a PBU. Great job by Elliot again. Off coverage. not forcing the switch on everything and uh being able to get get back into this play. Nice job. Now, really quickly, guys, do me a big favor. Hit that like button if you want more Pittsburgh Steeler content throughout the entirety of the offseason. We will be covering them throughout training camp, but most importantly, preseason football games, breaking down all 22 coaches film. Same thing with regular season as well. Do yourself a favor, join the family for more Steelers content. It is completely free. and we got you guys covered. With that being said, let’s dive back in. One more of these little clips and then I kind of want to show you a little bit of the notes from today’s practice. Again, we’re running this little I mean, what a route here by DK Mechaf. Look at this. Right. They’re just trying to confuse these DBs. We’re trying to get in the way. Act like we’re getting in the way and then boom, break to the outside. I mean, beautiful job here from DK. Ultimately would have probably got tackled there. Um, but great job by Aaron Rogers. Great anticipation. Perfect job, man. I do want to show you some things that we learned from today’s practice, though. Let’s get into that. So, my guy BWall here does a great job covering this team as well. We’re going to go through some of his tweets and see what kind of went down. We had a Rogers to Darnell Washington touchdown. Back corner over Kilbru. Um, great job. They ran it back again. Had Caleb Johnson punched in for a touchdown as well. Mason in there now. Rolls out. Threw it away. Good pressure by Demarvin Leo. Um, or is it Liao? Uh, goal line defense, Ladderm, Lattermill, Black, Benton, Harmon up front. Huge play. Uh, first play, huge crash from Warren and Patrick Queen. No touchdown. Herbig then stops Caleb Johnson short. This defense is going to be special, man. That’s what I’m excited about. Uh, next play, Howard is uh batted deep again, but Hurlman comes down with it and takes it to the house. Thompson now in hits Galbreth, who think he good player, man. A nice play over the middle of the field for a good a good gain. Howard in and looks for Taylor along the sideline, but it’s batted away again by Thornhill. Um, let’s see what else we got here. I want to see some more Rogers. So, Rogers overthrows DK, who had a step on Beanie Bishop down the sideline. Next play, Roman has Thornhill beat on a drag, but Rogers underthrows him. Not good. We need to get these better. Underthrows, overthrows, no more. We just got to put it on the mark, right? Finally his decount a short row underneath and gain well for a short gain. Starters back in Warren was stuffed up the middle. Caleb Johnson for no gain. Added down the line of scrimmage. Not a lot great happening for the offense here today. Caleb Warren or Caleb War Caleb Johnson for a short gain. And again you guys can read through these if you would like. They’re they’re here for you. Go follow uh Bwall man. Ah, not nothing great, man. Nothing great for the offense. All right, seven shots. We got Rogers incomplete to Janu, incomplete to Scoronic. Uh, incomplete to DK. Golly pitch to Surman stuffed. Rudolph incomplete. Whole touchdown on the on on the ground. Incomplete to Lord, the defense looks unbelievable today. Thompson finds DK with six. McCuten in coverage again. Okay, so what I learned from today’s practice, the defense is either unbelievable or this offense has a lot of work to do. You guys let me know in the comments down below. Hit the like button, subscribe, and I’ll see you in the next one. But today, wo, it was uh tough for the offense.
