Let’s grade the last five big Phoenix Suns trades, excluding the Kevin Durant one from this off seasonason. And the Suns have made a lot of questionable trades, like sending off a future first round pick in 2031 unprotected for three lower tier first from the Jazz. They traded three second rounders and Josh Aogi for Nick Richards. And they traded a future first round swap for Royce O’Neal. You can all want those together. Give it an F. Back to the end of the 2023 offseason. They got involved in the Damen Lord trade and they’ve sent out DeAndre Aiden and Tumani Kamara in exchange for Ysef Nerkich, Vasier Widow, Keon Johnson, and Grayson Allen. I’m going to give this one a D. Grayson Allen turned into a serviceable player, but then they had to overpay him. They sent out the best player in this trade in Tumati Kamar and going from Aiden to Nerkich was a big downgrade. And then in June of the 2023 offseason, they traded away Chris Paul, Langry Shamut, a future first round pick swap in 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030, as well as a plethora of second round picks for Brad Mciel, who they won zero playoff games with. They got swept in 2024, didn’t make the play in tournament in 2025. It’s an F minus. And the last one we’ll talk about was them trading for Kevin Durant at the 2023 trade deadline. I’m actually just going to give this trade a C. They gave up Muel Bridges, Cam Johnson, a first round pick that ended up being Noah Clowney, a first round pick that ended up being Come on, my watch. They got that one back. A 2027 first, a 2028 swap, and a 2029 first. They got some good seasons out of Kevin Durant. They did win a playoff series in 2023, but they lost in round two. They had one of the best futures with Bridges, Johnson, Aiden, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and all their draft capital. They kind of threw that away.
