MLB LIVE🔴 Los Angeles Angels vs Chicago White Sox – Aug 3, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
just about ready to go. And our pitcher in this game, Reed Deetmers. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this, every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark, in front of their fans, in front of the city. And you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around and we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. Ready to go. Here’s Mike Tman. Outside low and away we go this afternoon. First pitch 107. Next offering is fouled back. Next offering is in for a strike. That one missing inside. Well, he’s not afraid to fall into a two- strike count. Knows the strike zone very well. So much so that I think umpires will look at him and determine whether it’s a ball or strike if he swings or not. That one got close and the count’s full. stays alive. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Taylor coming on. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s one down. Time to check out the lineup for the White Socks. One guy leading the way offensively for this club right now, Andrew Benendi. And Boo, he’s their team leader in home runs. So, you know, the pitchers on that other side, man, they took a lot of time preparing for him in that pregame meeting. You know, he’s got a lot of pop and it’s real pop. It’s not fluky at all. He can absolutely change the outlook of a game very quickly. So, watch out when he steps in. And first offering is fouled off. There’s the swing in a miss. One out. Base is empty. Swinging a miss that one in the dirt on the first in time for the second out. Good job to clean it up after the drop third strike. Oh, that’s pretty much the dream two strike curve ball if you’re the pitcher. Hard downward break at the very end that just dips below the swing path. And they say pitchers want to try to bounce that pitch right on top of the plate. So that was exactly what he was looking for on the mound. Ben Tendi up here. This one in the air. Mona settles under this one. Makes the play and it’s out number three. Nothing doing for the White Socks. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back here with my pal Singi, today’s starting pitcher, number 61, Singi. He’s been outstanding and should be fun to watch. Well, when you have a guy that can limit the opponent to very little run production, you have a great chance to win a ball game when he takes them out. He’s just having an outstanding season so far. You hope he can maintain it because if he can, he’ll be in a nice conversation at the end of the year. Zack Nitto leading things off and takes a strike. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. Going to count one and two. Was good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you got a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. And here it comes. Next offering misses down and away. Got him swinging. It’s a strike out, but they’ll be in good shape if they make their outs as difficult as that one. Those grinding abs take a toll on a pitcher as the game goes on. Here’s Mike Trout and first offering is fouled off. Trout is one of the best players of his generation. He’s a fan favorite because he brings a rare combination of speed, power, and allaround talent to the team. He’s exactly the type of player you want to build around. The next pitch misses one and two to count. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Here’s a one, two. on the ground to third. Rojos throws on to first and here this afternoon. Two quickly away in the bottom of first. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. The home run a big part of the equation when it comes to this offense, singing, they’re one of the better clubs in the league in terms of putting runs up via the homer. Yeah, and that makes them even more dangerous because they’re going to get their hits, but they’re also going to get those home runs and have runners on base, which is multiple runs out of one swing. So, yeah, you really have to try to manage a team like this and keep them contained. You can’t give up extra outs, whether that be via an error or a walk. Next offering is fouled back. Two out, space is empty. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again now. A high-f fly ball out to left center. Ben Tendy ranging after it, drops into the glove and that’s the third out. Scoreless after one. Second inning, set to go. Now here’s the cleanup hitter for the White Sox, Miguel Vargas. Detmers back to work. That one’s in there. Strike one. High in the air out to right. Makes the grab. One down. Batty fifth. The designated stepping in. Kyle Teal. Just missed. That’s a ball. Eric Summersgill with home plate duty in this one. Kind of known for being generous with the corners. Chris, you know, I think that used to be a lot bigger deal in past eras where pitchers were working more in and out with their pitches, but yeah, we’ll see if those corners come into play in this one. Hey, no pitcher going to argue at all. Rips one to right and puts the squeeze on that one. Out number two, batting six, center fielder Luis Robert. Two out, space is empty. Luis Robert Jr. steps to the plate for the White Socks. Possibly thinking about home run number 100 here. He’s just one shy of that milestone. Breaking ball misses down and away. Robert needs just one more homer to reach 100 in the big leagues. base stock center field just kind of sliced that one into center. Batting seventh, short stop. Coulson Montgomery steps to the plate for the White Socks. Step off, throw to first. Robert dives back in. First pitch just misses. upstairs. Chris, with that distraction and the speedy guy at first, he’s in a favorable hitters count. Well, if nothing else, I mean, this is a great spot for a hitter to be in. Robert leads off first with two down to the inning. go back to Chicago. And he grounds one to the right side. Whips it to first. That’s out number three. The White Socks leave one. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. Back in Anaheim. Bottom half of inning number two. So in for the Angels. Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward. That’s a little bit low. And that’s in there for a strike. And now it’s even. Chases that one upstairs. Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s got good numbers swinging at pitches in that location. Swings through that one. It’s a strike out. You know, Boo, you often think of sliders more for that horizontal movement, but most of the good ones have both vertical depth and that horizontal movement, and that’s what we saw right there. A good drop on the break and got him to swing over the top. Here’s Joe Adele. Swung on. Belted high bounce. Takes it over the fence. That’s an automatic double. The automatic double kind of feels like enjoying cruise control in your car. Boo. You don’t need to keep the pedal down as you cruise into second base. Just no worries in the world. You know what? He put a really good swing on that one. And now Yan Mona swing and a miss. Strike one. Oh, one’s the count. Runner at second here. One gone. Fought off. Foul. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. Come on, let’s go. Swing and a miss. Had him out front for the strike out. You know, varying speeds can be just as useful for a pitcher as movement. As you see right there, it really was in a great location, but the fact that the velocity change had the hitter off balance, and that’s all you got to do sometimes. So the go-ahead run in scoring position. Logan O’Hap the next to hit for the Angels. That clips a corner. 0 and one. Ruer at second. Two down. Yeah, that skips into the and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Off the plate there. Well, two balls and two strikes. Chases the fast ball up the ladder. Struck him out. A lot of adrenaline. We can see it right there. And sometimes you just got to let it out. That’s an outstanding job of taking that, executing, and getting out of a tough inning. Back here at Angel Stadium. And now the switch in and catcher Edgar Caro. We haven’t seen a break in the weather and the umpires might be forced to make a decision soon. Yeah, I think so, Boo. I mean, everyone looking and wondering when they’re going to stop play. It definitely feels close. That one finds the zone and it’s one and one. And there’s the strike. One ball, two strikes. And that’s in the dirt. Two balls, two strikes. on the ground. Mona throws to first in time. One up, one down. Batting night, third baseman, Josh Rojos. Here’s Josh Rojos. And when you talk about elite defensive third baseman, this guy is at the top of the list. Stud. When you look at players like this, you play that hot corner, got to be pretty courageous over there with the way balls come off the bat. That’s the kind of guy that every year you expect to be in the All-Star game and have a gold glove, if not a platinum glove. Highfly ball out to left field. Squeezes it. Two away. Now batting right fielder. So two down now. And here is Mike Tman flying to left his first time. Tacman goes 6’1 hitting lead off in today’s game and he was a 10th round pick back in 2013. He swings and fouls one off. Inside ball one. Well, he missed badly with that O2 fast ball. Hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch. So, got to stay ready for it. Now fly ball to right center. Adele makes the catch and that is that. No runs, no hits, no errors. We move on to the bottom of inning number three. No score. And we’re back as we go to the last of the third. So in now for the Angels, Luis Rango. Fast ball in for a strike. 0 and one. Fast ball for a strike. I understand you want to try to gauge that guy’s fast ball, but you also have to be aggressive and ready to hit in your zone. Now you’re in a tough spot. Foul ball still 0 and two. Ball there. And that’s in the dirt. Two strikes in the air on the infield. Rojos under it, hauls it in for the out and there’s one away. Bill, that was a pitch you got to crush. Unbelievable that he missed it right there. I’m telling you, he is going to be frustrated with himself until his next at bat. Now it’s the switch hitting outfielder. And that is in for a strike. One. Just missed. Just missed with that back door breaking ball. If he gets a swing and miss or called strike, 02 count instead. It’s 1-1. Look for him to go back to that pitch later in this at bat. Late on that fast ball, man. He was really tardy on that fast ball. Great job of setting him up by throwing the curve ball. Add some velocity to it on the next pitch. Can’t catch up. That one almost got him. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Still tied at zero. Last of the third. that misses the zone and a full countdown. Good played appearance there, able to take the walk. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that walk. Back to the top of the Angels lineup. Zack Neto the next to hit for the Angels. Went down on strikes his first time through. And that one sliced fouled. Man at first, one away. And a strike on the outside edge. Oh, this guy’s so comfortable hitting with two strikes. Even a good pitch early in the at bat, if he’s not ready to pull the trigger, he’s not worried if he gets to an 02 count. And that’s outside. swings and blasts one deep to left center and it looks like trouble coming home. He’ll score and the Angels take the lead. Always feels good when you come through and get your team on the board first. Nice line drive to the pull side right there, but he didn’t spin off of it. That’s the key. You still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that. Now Trout gets a chance to hit. Grounded out his first time up. Oh, one in the dirt but kept close. Needto leads off second with one gone in the inning. And now it’s even up. One and one. Misses the zone for a ball. That was the sweeper. check swing and he went and that is strike two. Two strikes. One out and a runner at second here in the last half of the third keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. man at second. And the curve is down and in. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. And now Nolan Shaw by the left his first time. Shallow. You have to be creative pitching against bad ball hitters. You got to add some velocity, subtract. At times just avoiding the heart of the plate isn’t always going to be enough. Guys like this can hurt you with pitches you wouldn’t expect him to swing at. Late with the swing there. threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. And now two and one. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side. Vargas makes the play and that’ll do it. Angels get one on this double. It’s now one- nothing. You’re dialed into the show. Start of the fourth. Now the number two hitter Chase Mitra. And a foul ball. Pitch misses. One ball, one strike. up the middle and he knocks it down. Throw off line. Safe and a nice job there to keep it from getting away. Andrew Benendi up to the plate. He popped out his first time. Off the mark there and that’s ball one. White Socks down a run. Hit in the air left field. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. One away. Now though, first baseman Miguel Vargas. Miguel Vargas steps to the plate for the White Socks. And that drops in for a strike. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. On the ground, right side into the outfield. Base hit. They fired in quickly. So, it’s first and second with only one away. Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play. That’s a team at bat right there. Nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep. Two on, one out. Next is the designated hitter, Kyle Teal. Not close with that one. And that is ball one. White Socks down to run. Check swing. Called strike at the dish. Looking to lift the ball in the air in this spot. Anything but the inning. Ending double play. Boo and a count one and two. Really going after him here. All fast balls to get ahead in the count. And swinging the miss two away gets talked about a lot, but a good high fast ball in a two strike situation, it’s just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate, having a good grip on the baseball. Those high fast balls, they kind of look like to the hitter that they’re rising even though they’re not, but they’re not decreasing in velocity and spin rate. So, very difficult to get the barrel on it. Robert the next to hit takes ball one and now two and nothing. Tough spot right here. Couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. Missing inside and it’s three and0. He hasn’t fallen behind in the count like this all day. He’s in danger of walking his first batter right here. Two outs. pitch is in there and the count is three and one. One way to make a guy real uncomfortable at the plate is pound him inside with good velocity. They’re doing that right here. And it’s just fouled. That was close. So, both runners should be on the move here on the full count pitch. Yeah, this is a good chance to tie up this ball game. See if he can find some open grass in the outfield. Swang at a highf fly ball. Well struck. That’s back there. pulls it in on the warning trap. A couple of hits in the inning, but they can’t get him home. And midway in the fourth, it’s the Angels one. And the White Socks nothing. Bottom four. Down the left fielder Taylor Ward. Left fielder Taylor War. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. You know, these Angels do a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient bats out of him. He’s only given up one run, but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. Liner and this could be trouble. Now he turns and heads for second. the throw in and he’s got a lead off double. But when you fall behind in the count, you’ve got to come into the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard like he did right there. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Next to hit, Joe Adell doubled his first time off. Bounding ball here. Rolls. Foul. Fitter’s got some good opposite field power. What I like about something being hit to the right side into the outfield is that the base runner at second has a very good read and can determine whether or not he can score on that base hit. Swinging a miss. And it’s 0 and two. Activity in the pen for the White Socks. Shawn Burke appears to be getting ready. And I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Cannon getting cranked up as well. That’s a ball in the dirt. Man at second and delivers outside. Angels. All right, Angels. And it remains two and two. Fouled off. And they’ll do it again. Eighth pitch of the bat coming up. And that one goes straight to the back stop. So, a wild pitch allows the runner to advance. Even with a good secondary lead, sometimes it’s hard to see just how far that ball’s gotten away from the catcher. And if you can make it to third base pretty much standing up. Well, that time he seemed to have a pretty good read. Gets to third safely and now he’s just 90 ft away from scoring. And a pop off right side. Foul territory. Carol makes the grab. One away. Now batting third base. Now the White Sox manager is out of the dugout and will make a move to the pen. Number 61 is done. And that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today. Gave him some length. Back with a new arm after this. Now pitching for Jordan Leisure gets handed the rock out of the pin. Well, he struggled quite a bit. So this is another opportunity to get on the right track. He’s given up more than one hit perennium pitch so far this season. Here comes Yan Monata. Struck out swinging his first time. in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Got no problem with that take. First pitch from a reliever you haven’t seen for a while. You want to make sure that you can pick up the release point. Try to get him to chase on the change up that time. Ward stands at third with one gone in the inning. That one almost got him. Straighten him up a little bit. Swing and a miss. Nice change up. Two balls, two strikes. And there’s the ball. This one chopped to first. Steps on the bag for one. In there safely. And they lead by two. And next for LA, Logan O’H. He struck out swinging last time. Oh. First pitch misses. Way to lay off that fast ball up right there. You’re looking for something you see well that you can handle, but you also have to keep the discipline so that you’re not popping up pitches that are just a little too high. And a swing to miss. Two down, nobody on. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. That one missed. Two two swing and a miss. Struck him out. One run, one hit, no errors and no one left on. We’re headed to the fifth. Angels two and the White Socks nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Ready now for the fifth inning. And now Coulson Montgomery. Deetmers back to work. That one close rule to ball. One and0. You know, these White Socks just aren’t putting great swings on the baseball in this one. They’re trying to find ways to drive the ball with some authority, but it’s just not happening for him so far. Zero extra base hits in the game. So, it’s been tough for him to get anything going. Pitch misses and it’s two and one. Sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through, but it’s a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there. Next pitch is outside. Little chopper rolls. Foul. gets a piece and stays alive. Goes down looking. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it, thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. headed towards the corner. Automatic double now as it hops the wall in foul ground. Well, there’s something really nice about getting yourself an automatic double like that. You get to stroll into second base without having to worry about a throw or getting your uniform dirty and now you’re just looking for the next guy to kind of do the same thing. Maybe put one in the gap so you can jog home as well. One out, runner at second. Josh Roas will hit next. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. And there are two outs. Now batting right fielder Mike Tin. There comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Reed Deetmers departs and he’s responsible for the runner on second. So the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. Now pitching for So the Angels turn to their bullpen for a new pitcher, Jose Soraniano. Walks have certainly been an issue for him this season. So we’ll see what kind of command he has. Mike Tman digs in now. Bowl for two in this one. Check swing and he went. That’s strike one. 0 and one and there’s a foul ball. The O2 line drive base hit right field rounds third headed for the plate. and he’s out. Touchdown and that ends the inning. Well, it’s pretty difficult to throw a base runner out at the plate with two outs on a base hit to the outfield, but an excellent job of coming up with it, getting rid of it quickly, and throwing on the money. That is great technique from start to finish. Nice job to end the inning. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Here’s the second baseman, Luis Rangifo. And here’s the strike. That one misses. One and one. That clips the inside corner for a strike. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Two two on the way. lined and that’s a base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. Digging in is the switch inning outfielder. The walk and a run scored his first time outside with a breaking ball. It feels like we might be headed towards a rain delay if the weather doesn’t ease up, Chris. Yeah, the umpir and crew are going to pay attention to how the weather is impacting this game. And the moment it becomes dangerous, I think is the moment we’ll be forced to take a break. Text offering upstairs. the other way and foul ball. That one ran inside. Almost got him. Nobody out. Runner at first. here center field. Robert moves under it. Hauls it in for the out. Now batting the shorts stop. Zack Netto. So digging in Zack Neto. Sing. You talk about a guy that has all the skills. The range is really good, but the arm just stands out and he makes all the plays. That’s off the inside corner and that’s ball one. And because of that big power arm, he’s able to play a little bit deeper, make throws from the outfield grass all the way across the diamond and still get a pretty good runner. That’s impressive. Benendi makes the grab. Two down. Here’s Trout now. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Off of first with two away. Next offering is fouled back. Come on. Let’s go. Let’s score. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. swing and a miss. Struck him out and the inning is over. Angels strand one, but they’re on top two nothing. new inning getting started. Now it’s the second baseman Chase Maid Soraniano in his third season, 26 years old and he was born in the Dominican Republic. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Sam Bachmann appears to be getting loose. Fulmer getting loose as well. the 10. Here’s a swing and a line drive and that’s a base hit into right field. So, a man on base to start the inning. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. Ben intending to the plate. Nope, that’s inside. And the one runner on the go and fouled off with the tying run at the plate. And we’re in the top half of the six. and a count one and two with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. Spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another Smashed to center way back and you can forget it. Home run. He sends it out of here. His 14th of the year. And they tie it up. It’s 22. He’s bringing the thunder in a rainstorm. How in the world did he manage to hit that pitch out? That one was a hanger. And pitchers typically don’t get away with making a mistake like that. And right there, he made him pay. Miguel Vargas the next to hit. One for two. In there at the knees and it’s 0 and one. 01’s the count. Breaking ball misses down and away. Off the mark there and it’s two and one. When the skipper calls down to the bullpen, he’s expecting a guy to come in and get outs. So far, not getting what he was hoping for. That one misses and the count is three and one. Just doesn’t seem to want to throw in the fast ball. And that’s ball four. Tried another slur, but couldn’t find his own. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. pretty much gifted in first base with the quick free pass. Go ahead run on base. Now it’s the DH Kyle Teal. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Ruer at first with no outs here in the dirt. Blocked. Well done behind the dish. Good hitters count the 200 in the dirt and an excellent job keeping it right there. Luis Robert Jr. in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. pumps in a strike and now three and one the count right through there for a strike. It’s a hitter. You don’t know what to expect here in the 3-2. If he’ll throw a breaking ball 3-1, he’ll do it again. 3-2 and ball four to a board. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast. First and second, no outs. And now here’s the big center fielder, Luis Robert. He’s sitting on 99 career homers. We’ll see if this is the moment to notch number 100. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. Pretty well struck back there. It’s a bomb. He circles the bases. It’s their second home run of the inning and they take the lead. It’s 52 Siggy. That’s a special one. His 100th career home run, man. 100 career homers. Pretty impressive. A breaking ball on the inside part of the plate requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics. If you fly open with the front shoulder, there’s no way you keep that ball fair. An outstanding job mechanically. He deserves that home run. manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Jose Soraniano won’t go any further. It’s a three-run game and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. Now pitching. So a young arm coming on now out of the pen. Jack Kachanowitz and he’s had a struggle so far this year. As you can see the inflated erra looking to bring that down a little bit right here. Coulson Montgomery getting ready to hit on the ground right side. Can’t glove it cleanly. Still manages a throw and they get the out. Good recovery. Wasn’t easy following the misplay. Edgar Caro steps to the plate for the White Socks. Ball one. One in one. Swaging a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. One down, base is empty. That missed by a lot. The countdown two and two. Hit hard on the ground is short. handles, throws the first. Play is made, two out. Now batting third baseman Josh Ro. Two down, base is empty. So up next for Chicago, Josh Rojots. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. Counts one and0. the one. I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position and that’s what he does up the middle and that chance handled on the run. Throw to first. It’s there and that’s a great play. But two round tripers in this inning, the long ball was working. It’s now 52. Major League Baseball is on the show. Back in Anaheim, John Shambi with Chris Singleton in the booth. And leading off the bottom of the sixth, Nolan Showell. a change up missing and it’s one and0. Yeah, let’s win. And that one hammered. That’s back there. And that one is out of here. He circles the bases and they close the gap. It’s 53. That one just sounded different. And it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I can feel that sweating the boot. That was a high slider, but he did a really good job of staying on playing with it. Staying slightly above it with his hands. hit that ball hard and he got rewarded. And now Taylor Ward drilled in the air high and deep right field. That one carrying and it’s off the wall. Now he’ll turn for second. The relay throw but he’s in there easily. Having a really nice game here. That’s his second extra base hit. First pitch fast ball in a great spot to do some damage and he squared it up nicely. Runner in scoring position. No outs. And now the center fielder Joe Adele. And that’s in there for strike one. 0 and one. And the slider just misses. And that drops in for a strike. That front door slider. Such a devastating pitch. You don’t want to get beat by the inside fast ball. So, you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there, it’s out of the swing plane. This one in the dirt. Runner holds tight as the count moves to two and two. That one sizzling on its way through to the outfield. And they get it in quickly. First and third now with nobody out. Well, that was an important bat in this game. So, a great job there stepping up to the challenge. I know that was a ground ball, but it was absolutely hammered through the infield. That’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder. You know, they used to say charge it crazy. So, runners at the corners, nobody out. Yoan Monata now at the plate. He’s been a great free agent side. had a slider misses down and away. Well, he’s just given up three straight hits and now behind in this count to this hitter. Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout. Maybe the pitching coach to go out there and talk to him just a little bit. Just off the inside edge. Next offering is downstairs off that pitch down with the go ahead run at the plate here in the bottom of the six and that’ll load the bases. He did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire bat. Logan Hoppy the next to hit for the Angels. Golden opportunity right here. Check swing called strike. The opportunity for a huge inning exists right here. Bases loaded, nobody out. But as a hitter, can’t be over anxious. That pitcher is up against the wall. Make him come to you. and a swing and a miss. There’s that slider. You need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something. But you got to make some pitches. But if he can battle and get through this, he can earn some points. All loaded up. Dangerous hitter at the plate. Bows it off. Still one and two. Ward the runner at third. Adele at second. Mona at first with no outs. And there’s a ball. This is a situation where the hitter is looking for something up in the zone that he can get his arms extended. What you have to be careful of is that pitch that’s up that’s in on your hands. That’ll pop you up in the infield and that’s exactly what the pitcher wants. Check swing to peel to first. Ah, and he punches him out. He went around. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. And this is a big opportunity for him to pick up his teammate right here on the ground to the left. Rojos. There’s one. And that’s two. But not before they’re able to draw closer with this blast. It’s now 53. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. back here at Angel Stadium. And now the right fielder, Mike Tman. Mike Tman. Not even close there. And that’s ball one. That one almost got him. No strike. Reno. Let’s see if he gives him anything to hit here. And there’s the automatic. That one misses. So a lead off walk. Pretty easy walk right there. Last pitch wasn’t even much to think about. Next for Chicago. And up next for Chicago, Chase Maid. And that one fouled off. Oh, one down. Oh, that’s out. Line drive and this might be trouble. Safe at second with a double. Third hit for him this afternoon. clearly seeing the ball very well in this one. Just a cookie down the middle. I mean, those are the ones you dream about. The ones in the cage you’re just hoping you get in the ball game right down the middle. Not a whole lot of velocity right on top of it. Now batting left fielder Andrew Benendi. and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Really good job in this spot to get ahead in the count. He’s going to have to continue finish off this hitter. Don’t be surprised a ball on the ground to the corners that they come home with the baseball instead of going to first base. Just misses there. Got him. Outside pitch got the better of him that time. Here’s the cleanup hitter for the Socks, Miguel Vargas. Vargas. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Ball one. He’s got a base open, so the pressure to come in and really attack this hitter not as great as it would be if the bags were set. I got a ball right that misses and it’s two and one. Tman at third. Maid my draw at second with one away. This to third. Base hit. One run is in. The throw to third. Runner holds it third. So just one across on the play. Well, patience and discipline paid off right there as he got into an advantage count. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. Runners at the corners here. One away. Kyle Teal steps to the plate for the White Socks in the dirt, but kept close to second, but way too late. Safe there. Vargas into scoring position on the wild pitch. And there goes the double play possibility. second and third. One away. Brown ball to the right side and he handles it himself for the out. Now batting center fielder Luis Robert Jr. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Jack Kachanowitz will depart and he leaves a runner at third. So we’ll see how the next pitcher deals with that when we get back. Now pitching pitching change here. Luis Garcia should be a good first match up for him here. He’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season. They’ve had a lot of trouble squaring him up. And now it’s Luis Robert. He’s already homered here in this one. And that’s through there for a strike. 4-1 right through there for a strike. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the wall. He’s going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. Swing and a ball driven out to center. That one carrying off the batter’s eye and gone. Another homer, his second home run of the game. And they add on. It’s 93. And with a six-run lead, they’re fans that are starting to head to the exits. For a pitcher, the odds are in your favor if you keep that breaking ball down. That time he got punished for it. Hitter just did a really good job of staying within himself and getting the barrel to the baseball. And next to hit for the Socks, Coulson Montgomery pitch misses there. And that is ball one. Two down on tap foul at the plate. That one out to right. And that is that. So it’s four runs for him on three hits including the home run. No errors and no one left. Seventh inning stretch time. It’s the White Socks nine and the Angels three. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Steven Wilson. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So, this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. Now, it’s the right fielder. He’s 0 for one. Right. They’ve got a potent lineup. And when you think about teams capable of rallying from this kind of deficit, they’re right at the top of the list. Out to short, Montgomery on to first and the leadoff hitter sat down to open the seventh. Now batting the shortstop, Zack. Now it’s the Angels leadoff man, Zack Neto. Yeah, Angels. All right, Angels. missed with a change up and that’s ball one. Action in the pen down there. Shawn Burke getting loose out there. Alt Villa the hardthrowing right-hander up as well. The Halos with a lot of ground to make up here. The bottom of the seventh. The shorts stop takes a ball. Popped foul out of play off to the right. Little tardy on that fast ball. He’s going to have to get it going a little quicker. Get that front foot down. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Up next for the Angels. And now batting Mike Tra for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. Great speed and great power. A great athlete quite simply. He’s like Mike Trout. You figure whatever you put in his hand, whether it’s a bat, whether it’s a golf club, whether it’s a basketball, he can do it and get it done. And a rare talent. So much fun to watch. And that misses off the outside edge. upstairs and it’s two and one. Needto stands at first with one out and that’s downstairs now. Three and one and ball four, two aboard. His ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one. And now the first baseman, Nolan Shadwell. He’s already homered in this game. That misses ball one and it’s fouled away. That’s to third Rohos. There’s one on to first double play and that’s the inning. This one pretty well decided at this point. We look ahead to inning number eight. It’s the White Socks nine and the Angels three. Well, this game isn’t very close, Singy. Let’s see if we got any messages from those tuning in today. I know we got some good stuff in there. Singy, where do you stand on the wave? Well, the wave of star players in MLB or the wave around this ballpark. The wave around the ballpark. I think it’s a little outdated. I’m more of a Thunder Sticks guy. And that’s not outdated. up the middle tosses to first and that’s one away as the leadoff man is out in the eighth. Now batting third baseman Josh Rojos. So up next Josh Rojos 0 for three in this one. Would they pay you? No, absolutely not. Not even a meal on the road. So, I think it’s great now that most of these teams have professional barbers that come in and make them look fresh before the games. And he swings and misses and it’s up and one. Scale of 1 to 10, how good a barber were you? For a nonprofessional, I’d say I was probably a seven. But if I was comparing to professionals, I’d be like a three. Yeah, that’s fouled off. I’ll never forget the time that I cut José Conco’s hair. He had a pretty big melon boo. And uh big dome. It It took a while. Yeah, there’s a little pressure there, too, because he had a big date that night and he wanted me to make sure that everything looked good. Wow. Yeah, he’s a big guy, too. I didn’t want him to hurt me. Yeah, he’s large. So up next for Chicago, Mike Tman, just off the outside edge. And that’s ball one. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the eighth. Let’s go. And that is out of play. Let’s go. Two outs. Outside low. Two and one. We got two balls, one strike. rolled slowly to first, but that rolls foul. Here’s a two- two. Good job to fight that one off. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing doing it for the White Socks, but they lead it 93. And we’re back onto the bottom of the eighth. And now it’s going to be Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward. Wilson back to work. Ball one low. right side hard hit steps on first for the out. Now batting center fielder Joe Adele. Here’s the center fielder Joe Adele. And that one fouled off. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. That’s back to back singles for him. Timing on the swing was good. Able to shoot the ball up the middle. didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked, but that’s a good approach paying off. Runner on at first with one gone. Now the third baseman, Yawan Monata. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Ball one. Adele at first. One gone. Way high with that one. And the count now two nothing. Next offering is fouled back. Well, they gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone. I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again. That clips the corner. Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. This one could be trouble. Lead runner makes the turn at second. Coming home. He will score. A little more back spin on that instead of the top spin. He’s jogging around the bases rather than pulling up at second. One out. Runner at second. Logan Ohappy digs in now. Three strikeouts already. He’s 0 for three. That just misses. And that is ball one. Foul ball. swing and a miss and a count one and two. He’s been able to go inside as well as outside effectively working both sides of the plate in this at bat. Got him looking and there’s two down. Two strikes. Many times hitters looking out over the plate. When you’re looking out over the plate, you’re also going to let the ball travel a little bit longer. And a fast ball zipped on the inside corner just locks you up. Rangifo stands in now and watches strike one. Two outs and one in scoring position. Swinging a foul out of play. That’s a ball. tried to attack with the sweeper. One ball, two strikes to count. And that’s downstairs and outside. Really good take, especially with two strikes up the middle. Now the throw to first on the run and they get the out. But a run will score in the inning on this RBI double. It’s now 94. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Sam Bachman hasn’t pitched in the last three days. Number 40, Sox. Chase MRO steps to the plate for the White Sox. Chase Maid. First off, it just misses. Movement in the bullpen. Brock Burke up and loosening in the pen. Brogden the right-hander loosening up as well. swing and that ball smashed on a line. This looks like extra bases around first and hustling for second. Oh, that’s how you respond. Leadoff man comes up, gets into scoring position. Now, there are several ways that they can get this run across. Now it’s Andrew Benendy to hit outside low. One and0. and another ball. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out here in the top of the ninth. That one off the mark and that’s ball three. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike zone. What does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit. That’s in there. Three and two now. Thank you. And ball four, two aboard. Perfect. Up next for Chicago, Miguel Vargas steps to the plate for the White Socks. This one smoked could be trouble. Headed for the plate. One run across. Here comes Ben and Tendi around third. Relay throw home. He’ll score. Two runs are in. It’s 114. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. Pretty much a model swing on that one as he ripped it into the opposite field gap. And I’m sure he’s going to be watching that one back on video because that’s the kind of swing you want to bottle. So many positives that led to that knock. So now it’s the White Socks DH. Kyle Teal. He’s a catcher by trade, but the DH here in this one. 10 in the dirt. That’s in there. And a count one and one man at second. So a foul ball makes it one and two. And that one missing low. Two two count. Fights it off. You’ll see another foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. and down on strikes and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. Toughest pitch to hit. Fast ball on the outer black, man. Sometimes you just got to tip your cap. So, here’s Robert now. He’s got a couple homers already. So, can he possibly do it again? Come on, man. Of course he can. Those two he hit were legit. And he looks pretty locked in right now at the dish. and first offering is fouled off. One out and a runner at second. Well, you can’t expect to get a great pitch to hit with an open base and a runner on second. He’s going to have to really tighten up his sights here. Make sure that he can barrel up the ball. One ball squirts away a little bit. the delivery to Robert. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Oh, just excellent location on that inside fast ball. Really locked him up and it’s a hitter. It’s not typically what you’re looking for. You’re trying to protect away and then in. So, you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes. Hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought it would be called a ball, but either way, that’s a really nice pitch. Montgomery in the box now. No balls in a strike. Hard hit left side in the hole. Jump throw and he can’t come up with it. The effort was there with the jump throw. You got to love it. But it just wasn’t in time. Still a really impressive play just to get to that ball and make it close at first and not every shortstop could even make that play. Here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Sam Bachmann done for the day and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this now pitching Carson Fulmer on a pitch here. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. Just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score. So two on with two away. Next to hit Edgar Caro that’s in there and that’s strike one. Runners on first and third. Two away in the air left side and that’ll do it. So, two runs on three hits, no errors, but two are left stranded and 912 scheduled to lead off the bottom of the ninth. It’s the White Socks 11 and the Angels four. Now pitching for back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth. Shawn Ban, he’s pitching on two days rest. Digging in is the switch in outfielder, rightielder who’s 25 years old and he was a third round pick in 2021. That one a little bit high. Ball one. That one fouled off. Highf fly ball right field. Makes the catch for the out. Now batting the shortstop, Zack digging in, Zack Neto, fought off foul. Next offering is in for a strike. Next offering popped in the air right field. Takman pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batting the designated hitter Angels down to their final lap. The batter now, Mike Trout. Ball one, no strikes. The Angels with a lot of ground to make up. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. There’s the strike. 95 of that one. And that one’s a little bit low. Two and one. Just Burke is just one strike away. And it’s ball four. He missed down low. Oh, he earned his trip to first right there. It’s not easy laying off pitches that just missed the zone like that. And it’s a real discipline as well. He’s put a lot of work into that aspect of his game and it paid off right there. Shadow in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Foul ball there. The White Socks up big in this one here. The last half of inning number nine. That one not close. It’s a ball in two strikes. Stays alive. Ground ball left side and that’s just fouled. That’s down and in. Two strikes. A swing and a miss. And that is the ball game. Offensive explosion today for these players. They gave up a few runs, but they had more than enough firepower to turn this one into a blowout. Final score in this one, 11 to four. for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami saying so long
