Dallas Stars TRADE Jason Robertson To The Chicago Blackhawks? | NHL Trade Rumors
So, could the Dallas Stars be trading away Jason Robertson to the Chicago Blackhawks this 2025 NHL off season? Well, here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from NHLtrader.com. The link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself. But this trade would see the Chicago Blackhawks receiving Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars receiving a 2026 first round pick, Lucas Reichel and Sam Renzel. So, this trade’s actually very fascinating to me because Jason Robertson has been sort of tossed out there on the trade market this off season. uh he of course wants a new contract and it’s going to be pretty expensive and just sort of given how uh Dallas is built and sort of the cap situation they currently have right now. Even with the rising cap on the horizon, they may not be able to afford uh Jason Robertson without sacrificing some other players. And the Dallas have to make a decision. So with Robertson heading into the last year of his deal, this guy’s going to be in line for a big time extension. He’s a really solid player. He’s a big body, a legitimate topline winger. the last four years he’s had over a point per game, which is incredible. And that’s very hard to find uh either in the NBA or in the NHL draft or in free agency. So, if you’re the Chicago Blackhawks and you have a chance to maybe add a player like this, they have the young assets in the draft capital to make this work, getting this aggressive now might not be a terrible idea uh to make this team better, change the culture a little bit, and really add some support around your star player. That being Connor Bdard. So, giving up 2026 first round draft picks are always risky because in this upcoming draft next year, uh, Gavin McKenna is seen as like a can’tmiss prospect and Chicago’s not going to be very good once again next year. And if you’re able to sort of be in the running for Gavin McKenna, I don’t think I would give up that draft pick for Robertson plus Lucas Reichel, a former first round pick, as well as Sam Renzel. That’s a pretty expensive package to me. But once again, you’re getting back a player that’s had over a point per game four times in a row. He’s a proven 40 plus goal scorer in the league and if you want to give Connor Bernard some more support to make him a little bit happier and have him sign a long-term deal. I think acquiring a star player like Robertson, it fits the bill in that regard. So, uh, from the Blackhawks perspective, it’s risky, but I do understand the interest potentially. From the Stars perspective, I actually love this deal. Like, as I mentioned before, after this season, affording Jason Robertson might not be feasible uh without sacrificing some other players on this roster. And Dallas wants to win a championship now. So, if you want to have a little bit more flexibility and possibly like imagine this scenario, if they were to get somehow Gavin McKenna or win the draft lottery next year, the Stars would be set for the foreseeable future. So, to me, this trade’s just a little bit too risky and a little bit too rich for my liking uh from the Blackhawks perspective. And if I had to pick a winner of this deal, I’m going to go with the Dallas Stars without a doubt. But, as always, leave your thoughts.
