Yankees vs. Marlins Game Highlights (8/3/25) | MLB Highlights

The win last night secured the series victory against the Yankees. That’s six in a row for these Marlins. The Marlins will induct the World Series champion manager Jack McKeon into the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame. It was Trader Jack’s 2003 Marlins who defeated the Yankees at Yankee Stadium to win the franchise’s second World Series title. God bless you. Thank you. and thanks for the memories. Making his 19th start of the season, all of a sudden it’s a consistent Eddie Cabrera, huh? Yeah, that has a ring to it just when you say making his 19th start. First ever against the New York Yankees. Gishim at 248, 19 homers and 43 runs batted in. And you would love to see the Yankee offense get going immediately. Driven deep to center field. Marcy back on the track at the wall. See youa a home run. Trent Gisham his 20th of the year. Yankees on the board. Not a bad way to start the day. Trent Gisham again adding to his careerhigh in home runs. Number 20. And what an at bat after getting down 02 kind of stepping out trying to slow things down. And maybe he’s he he messed up the pitch con. Gave him a little extra time to go dead central. If Edward can get Stanton right here, it’ll be a nice comeback after the home run. No question. Got him. Inning over. A leadoff homer by Gisham. They send Luis Heel out to the mound. They’ve been waiting for this. This is the reigning American League Rookie of the Year. If he can give them what they got last year from him, what a pickup for them. Sees the two hitting left fielder Kyle Sters. That’s hit the other way. That’s nice. That is nice. A one out single for Kyle Sters. And again the 3-2 that misses low ball four and the Marlins have two men on base for Otto Lopez here in the first. 3-2 lined into center field. Gisham right there puts it away and that’ll do it. It’s Jason Dominguez. 260 29 home runs and 37 runs batted in 1-1. That would a chopper. Cabbie was thinking about grabbing it with his bare hand. He opted for the glove. Good move Kabie. He picks it up and lost it to first in time for out number two. It was a high one hopper and Cabrera, you saw him reach with that right hand and then he made a business decision and the right decision. One, two to Ryan McMahon. Swung on it. Strike three. Nasty work through a one, two, three second. Another three ball count for Heel early in this game. And there’s ball four. Second walk of the afternoon issued by Luis Heel. And the 3-2 misses outside ball four. Pitch count going up 40 already for Heel. So, back-to- back one-out walks issued by Heel. And here comes Troy Johnston who has a very good eye at the plate as well. Troy swinging away. Yanks it in the air down the right field line. Trouble. Fair ball for Troy. First hit at home. That’ll tie the game. An RBI double for Troy Johnson. That’s his second hit in the big leagues and his first run bat of the and ties the game just like that. Great back. Good swing. He’s not careful. Well, this thing is going to get away from him in a hurry. Xavier Edwards, the hitter. He flat out the right his first time. Edwards swings up the middle. Base hit and the Marlins take the lead here in the bottom of the second. Told you he had good swings. His first AP. Good base running there by all parties involved. And here comes Matt Blake to have a conversation with not only Heel, but the rest of this infield. Sters is already one for one with an opposite field single off of Heel in the first. Sters in the air left field pretty deep. Dominguez over in the corner and he makes the catch. Tagging from third and scoring is Troy Johnston. It’s three to one Miami on the sack fly. Boy Dominguez nearly overran that. And I think it might have ultimately been a fair ball. That was dangerously close there for the Yanks. And here’s Jacob Marcy grounded out to second. That was in the second. Strike three. Marcy down looking right on the inside corner. Strike out for Heel is second. He got and both of them are looking. Swing and a miss. 97 miles an hour right by him. Two strikeouts in the inning for Heel. The only blemish for Cabrera was the leadoff homer in the first by Gisham. Here’s Jean Carlos Stanton. How about that called strike three on Stanton. Oh, baby. Alan Porter may have rung him up looking. One, two. Got him. Cabrera has retired 12 of 13 since the leadoff homer. Nobody up yet in the Yankee bullpen. We told you he threw 75 pitches his last time. You would think that somebody would start to throw. There is some stirring, but nobody on the mound yet. He got a fast ball. Missed high ball four. The second time he’s walked Paulie and three of those pitches had no chance. Here is Edwards. One for two with an RBI single. There’s a base hit for Edwards. Paulie will stop at second. And here comes Aaron Boon. And that’s going to be it for Luis Heel today. He’s going to take his righty out of the game after 77 pitches. New pitcher is the lefty Brent Hedrickk. Takes over for Luis Heel. And we’ll face the lefty swinging Kyle Sters. No runs allowed in the last four games for Hedrickk. There’s a shot deep right field. Going back is Bellinger. He looks up and it is gone. Kyle Sters has done it again. This time a threerun shot off the lefty. 6-1 Miami. All rise. Here comes Kyle Sters. New York beat Mr. Sters. Edward Cabrera back on the mound here in the fifth with a six to1 lead courtesy of Kyle Sters. That would count and miss. Nasty slider. That’s a punch out for Cabrera. That is strikeout number five for Edward Cabrera here as we play here in the fifth. There’s strike three called. Give him six. A half dozen strikeouts for Cavy today. Runner goes 32 swung on. Miss strike three. Seven strikeouts for Edward Cabrera this afternoon. Josh Simpson has come on out of that Marlins bullpen. 27y old left-hander. 62 a buck 90 pitches to J Carlos Stanton to lead off here in the seventh. Slow ground ball third base and the ball gets by Paulie and hits the bag and stops as Stanton will reach on an infield single. Paulie had much more time than he thought and possibly might go foul. I don’t know. There’s Jess Chisum 0 for two and winding out the right strikeout. Looking high-fly ball deep left center Marcy back he’s on the track turning looking. See youa Chisum goes the other way for a two-run home run. It’s 63 Miami. Well, it’s you needed something to get the offense going. Got into the bullpen. First time you’ve seen some of the left-handers out of the bullpen and Jazz Chisum. This going the other way was a bomb. Here’s Anthony Pulpy. Two down. Line drive. And it’s a base hit down the right field line. It’ll go into the corner. Meyers having trouble playing it out there. Vulpi is going for three and he will make it with a standup triple. Lopey’s fourth triple of the season. Boy, he was running hard from the get-go. Had his eye on it. Knew he was going to get three. Made a good clean turn. So here’s Austin Wells. He is 0 for two. Popped him up into left. Should get Simpson out of the inning. Sters has got it. Yankees get two. Six-3 at the seventh inning stretch. Yanks got back in it, but an important last out to hold Wii at third base. Ramirez is 0 for three in the game. Nice play there by McMahon. Oh, he took a double away from Ramirez and Ben Rice tags him out. Snags it up quick with it and uses the turf to his advantage to bounce it over there. There’s Lopez who’s one for three today. And there’s ball four to Lopez. It’s a two-on walk issued by Brew Baker. That’ll bring Marcy to the plate. Here’s a no throw down to second. That’s a stolen base for Lopez. Oh, Wells wanted to fire that ball in towards second. I’m not sure Vulpi got to the bag in time. He’s going to do this for another 10 years. You got to just cool it a little bit. That blood pressure is not going to be too kind to you. She’s waiting on another hit. She’s already seen three doubles. And the 3-2 coming to her. Sun is ripped in the air to center. Chris’s going back. Still going back. Still going back. off of his glove. Marcy’s got a double. Oh, give him his first triple. Now mom got the triple. She got the triple. Three doubles and a triple for Jacob Marcy to start his career. What a fever dream. He and his family have been living since Friday. The walks hurt. We all know that. The the Yankee pitching staff has walked five today. Four of them have scored. Swing and a miss. decided to go upstairs with 97. Blew his front doors in. And there’s one away. Got him with that slider. And Enriquez is fired up. Yankees pitching, by the way, has issued 17 walks in this series. Six more today. Threatening for more in the home half of the eight. And it works as they should get a double play. There’s one on to first. It’s a double play. Well, that was turned well by Jazz and Vuli in a big double play for Root Baker. Kyle two for three today. Single to the first, sack fly in the second, struck out a six, but the big one a three-run last and Ster down on strikes. No runs to hit, no errors, and one man left on base. Yankees need a rally in the ninth. They’re down by four. And the Yankees need base runners and big hits here in the ninth inning. Otherwise, you’re going to be swept out of Miami. Line drive. It’s a base hit. So, a single for Jazz to start it off. Austin Slater, right hand hitter and the pitch. And that one gets away from Ramirez, allowing Chisum to advance to second. So, that erases the conventional double play and their strike three called. Couldn’t pull the trigger on a slider that was center cut. One away. I think Slater had fast ball in mind. Ryan McMahon 0 for three today with three more strikeouts. Swam slider. Fourth time today McMahon has gone down. They’re one strike away from getting back to 500. They have never before in a three-game series in franchise history swept the Yankees over 55 and 55. And get your brooms out. For the first time in the history of the Marlins franchise, they sweep a threeame set of the Yankees.

  1. Hot damn! The 3rd highest paid team in baseball fell to the next to last lowest paid team in baseball?????!!!! I guess money can't buy everything! Keep it up, FISH!

  2. The last time Miami had a .500 record (8-8), on April 15, Xavier Edwards was the shortstop and Otto Lopez was the second baseman. Matt Mervis led the club in homers. Right-hander Cole Gillispie started on the mound, and Jesús Sánchez manned center field. Ninety-four games later, the Marlins returned to .500 (55-55) by sweeping the Yankees (60-52) for the first time in franchise history with Sunday afternoon’s 7-3 victory in front of 34,601. Right-hander Edward Cabrera recorded a quality start, while All-Star Kyle Stowers went deep and drove in a game-high four runs. The weekend crowd of 101,545 set a new three-game attendance record at loanDepot park, which opened in 2012. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the last Major League team to go from 16 or more games under .500 to a .500 record was the 2014 Rays. Since the Marlins fell a season-high 16 games below .500 on June 13, they have gone 30-14 – tied with the Brewers for the most wins in MLB. Edward Cabrera struck out seven in stellar outing and and improved his ERA to 2.32 since May 4. Miami’s lineup, which featured six rookies, provided Cabrera with plenty of run support. Sandy Alcantara pitches tomorrow against the Houston Astros (62-50)

  4. Take a look at Boones record for his tenure. Not good for the talent that he has had. The long losing streaks every year. The smug look and stupid reply such as the Yankees are beast in the batters box is laughable. He is nothing but a puppet for the brass.
