On Monday afternoon, Niece Motorsports announced that Kaden Honeycutt has been released from his driving duties. Connor Zilisch will take over the No. 45 DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado this Friday at Watkins Glen International.

Niece Motorsports removed Honeycutt because he agreed to a 2026 deal with a different Truck Series organization.

“Honeycutt has signed a contract to race with a different Truck Series organization and OEM in 2026,” Niece Motorsports said in a statement. “Making this change allows our team the opportunity to begin building for next year.”

Phil Gould will remain the crew chief for Niece Motorsports despite Honeycutt’s departure.

Judging by the early reactions to this move, NASCAR fans believe Nice Motorsports dropped the ball.

“Wow, that’s kind of low. So what he signed with someone else, happens all the time,” one fan commented.

“BRO WHAT???? He was contending for a freaking playoff spot ON POINTS,” a second fan said.

“Terrible look for the sport,” a third fan replied. “You have a driver in the playoffs and dump him. Why would anyone sign with you guys moving forward?”

“Dude is about to POINT his way into the playoffs with a junker niece truck and you fire him for signing a career move for the future. Everyone should STAY AWAY,” another fan wrote.

Just a few weeks ago, Honeycutt earned Nice Motorsports a third-place finish at Pocono Raceway.

What makes this move so deflating for Honeycutt is the fact that he’s sixth in the Truck Series standings. He deserved a chance to finish out this season.
