Tennessee Titans fan baffled reaction to NFL Live talking Cam Ward and the Titans!

Tennessee Titans fans, the crew on ESPN NFL Live talking about the Tennessee Titans. Um, and the title says that someone was quoted as saying the Titans are dark horses in the AFC somehow. I feel like that title is probably misleading. Probably. But let’s check it out. This is NFL Live talking about Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans. Last year they ranked 26th in passing yards and 31st in both touchdown interception ratio and total QBR. Cam Ward posted an 89 QBR with Miami last year, second best in the nation behind only Will Howard. Cam Ward spoke today, was asked about the offense over the last couple of days. Oh, here we go. Candid. I just think we’re very mid right now. um from my position to to up front to the rece. This I don’t remember what day this was that he said the infamous mid comment everybody’s been talking about. Oh, mid. Cam said the offense is mid. If whatever they did that day was mid, then as I’m recording this yesterday was Sunday, which was the day that Brian Callahan chewed him out at the end of practice because it was so bad. If that practice was mid, the practice yesterday must have been like just straight up skid like skid marks. I don’t know. I was trying to think like something around this position. But at the end of day all starts with me. I just I just don’t think we’re we’re at where we need to be. But we got we got a little bit of time and so every day we get better as a whole. We’re a young team. Um that’s no excuse. At the end of day we got to come with the right mindset every day and come to work. I was actually surprised to see so many in the Titans fandom that were upset that he said that. Not many, but I saw some that were upset. Like, what do you want him to say? Like, everything’s great. Everything’s great. We’re clicking on all cylinders. Would you rather him say that when it’s clearly not happening right now? Honestly, if I’m a Titans fan, I love that the way that he talks. Some very candid and honest comments though from Kim Ward. From a front office perspective, what do you consider a successful season for a rookie quarterback, Mike? I think he’s going to earn the job and have Tennessee play meaningful games in December. And that’s really all you can ask. And I think the Okay, December. I got my months mixed up. I I for some reason when he said December, I thought playoffs, but the playoffs aren’t until January. But hey, if the Titans are playing meaningful games in December, that’s better than any of us could hope for. That is rooted in how he takes care of the ball. Last year, 39 touchdowns, only seven interceptions. Only Kate Clubnik of Clemson had a better ratio. And when you look at Will Levis last year, he turned the ball over more than any other quarterback. So he’s a great fit with Bill and Brian Callahan. You look at the offensive line, they signed Dan Moore. They flipped JC Leam to the right tackle. So this offense, people just say that like it’s a fix. Like they signed Dan Moore. It’s like, bro, are we confident in Dan Moore? Like acting like they just signed the left tackle of the future. It’s like, well, they they signed Dan Moore. It’s like okay before that they signed Andre Dillard and before that they signed Dennis Daly. Did any of that fix it line I think will protect Cam Ward with all the other things that happened in the offseason between video and audio is out of sync. It drives me nuts around Sanders. This is like a very underrated unheralded first overall pick in my opinion and I think he’s going to play well and to again answer your question Laura I think they’re going to be playing meaningful games like every day every day that passes there’s another analyst. Is this the most underrated not talked about number one pick in history? I mean I in a year that’d be huge, right? Uh I’m glad you said it that way, too, because I don’t think we’ve given Kim Ward enough credit. All right. I I love her. I really do. And I love most of the people on this show. Her and Dan, I say it every day. Like you guys put the shows together. You keep talking about how you don’t talk about them. Just talk about him then. Everybody, everybody at home too, we’re living dangerously here. We’re bringing Graz back in. Let’s see if his mic works now. Go ahead, Graz. I think we got it fixed. I think we got it fixed. Go ahead. Yeah, I think so. To the extent that the Titans need to get the offense fixed if it’s very mid as Cam Ward uh is is saying. I what I my understanding is it’s about timing. They want him to get timing down with his receivers. And to the extent that he’s had issues, interceptions or whatever in practice, that’s been where they’ve laid the blame. The Titans believe that he has shown them everything that they I’ve heard that too. I mean, a lot of the reporters that are there talk about how most of his interceptions are something to do with timing. it’s, you know, a receivers’s not out of their route yet and the ball’s already there or something like um, you know, he overthrows a receiver cuz he thinks they’re going to be, you know, it’s just timing with the receivers. And that can only be fixed by reps, reps, reps, and more reps that they saw before they drafted him in terms of his ability to diagnose, his ability to make good decisions, his ability to process. Uh but it’s really just a matter of time on task with the receivers and as that continues to develop they believe uh he has a chance to hit the ground running. Calvin Ridley by the way did leave practice today but uh it was clarified later it was just uh cramps in his calf. So um uh it seems like they dodged a scare there. Yeah. What are we now a week week and a half two weeks into training camp of the the rookie season of the number one overall pick? Look, there is there is plenty of runway and plenty of time for this guy to get up to speed. And I tell you, I feel like I know this guy better than I know anybody in this draft, considering how much I got to talk to him and spend time around him. Like there there’s this absolutely for me, there’s just no worry whatsoever that he will be able to master what he needs to master, not just this year, but over the next five, six years. He’s got a lot of new weapons he has to like bring into the fold. Obviously, they’re all new to him, minus Xavier Restrepo, who was an undrafted free agent who played with him at uh at Miami, but everything else is new to him. Everybody else is new to him and this isn’t the first time he’s gone through this. He went through this at M last year at Miami last year and he took the bull by the horns and you saw how that offense played itself. Yeah, I talked about this on the podcast today which just got started back today. Go check out episode 165. But like everybody’s freaking out because he’s had a couple of bad practices. It’s just like man, he’s a rookie having a lot thrown at him. He’s only been on the team for a few months. He’s got to get better for sure, but like you got to give people time to grow. And in the social media generation where we know everything that’s happening because we’re being told about every rep, every play, you know, it’s easy to start going crazy like we’re we’re already talking about how panicked we are and we’re just two weeks in, you know? It’s crazy. out. Although we’re not saying that the ACC is the AFC South, but this dude for this and he’s got some big time players now in terms of wide receivers and veterans like, you know, guys like Calvin Ridley, like Ban Jefferson and Tyler Lockett, but the rookies that they brought in as well. Look, Jim Ray DK, who played down in Florida, is a good slot wide receiver. Elkio Manor, who they drafted out of Stanford, is a big time big- time playmaker on the outside with big speed. So, he’s got a lot of things working in his favor. It’s just now up to Brian Callahan to get it all to come together to where, as Mike said, they’re playing meaningful games in November and December. I love it. I I was recently in Nashville and a couple fans were like, “Man, you guys don’t talk enough about the Titans.” I’m like, “All right, we’re gonna be talking about the Titans now. Okay, you got the number one overall pick. It’s a quarterback. We’re all right. Good job, Titans fans. Shouldn’t take that consider considering they took a quarterback first overall. Um, I’m glad he mentioned Ellio Manor and u Chim DK because whenever people talk about the Titans receiving core, they just talk about Lockett Ridley and Jefferson. They’re like, “Oh, it’s a bunch of old guys.” Because they’re too lazy to see who the Titans drafted past the the first round. But anyway, they’re really too lazy to even care about who they drafted first overall. But I mean, listen, I I think that um the alarms going off about how Cam Ward’s not doing well in practice, it’s so just people desperate for something to talk about because it’s football and people are desperate for football. I’m not really worried about it. And um you know, I I like what the guy said about the Titans playing meaningful football in December. That’d be nice. Been a little while since that happened. Been a few years. Tighten up everybody. We had dinner tonight. We decided not to go. We got Door Dash and stayed home. We had plans to see a movie. We were going to hit the town, but we just standed up with our dog on the couch. Yeah. But I got no regrets. No, these nights are the best. Yeah. When you say, “Honey, let’s just stay in the night. We need to lay back and relax. Hey, Alexa, play some so we can go in the kitchen and dance. Then we’re watching all the reruns while we gently hold hands. Oh baby, ain’t nothing wrong with some cancelled plans. Oh baby, ain’t nothing wrong with Yeah. Some cancelled plans. You know, I love it when we get to go out and put on our nicest clothes, grab a camera, strike a pose. But these nights when we’re together with nobody to impress, ain’t no other place that could ever compare this. Some might say we’re lame, but as for me, girl, I got no complaints. Yeah. When you say, “Honey, let’s just stay in the night. We need to lay back and relax. Hey, Alexa, play so we can go in the kitchen and dance. Then we’re watching all the street runs while we gently hold hands. Oh baby, nothing wrong with some canc. Yeah. So I say, “Honey, let’s just stay in tonight. We need to lay back and relax. Hey Alexa, play Sinatra so we can go in the kitchen and dance. Then we’re watching reruns while we gently hold hands. Oh baby, ain’t nothing wrong with some kids. Oh baby, ain’t nothing wrong with some canc. Oh, just you and me here together tonight with our cancel plans. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
