I’m gonna guess he’d explain that if they cut spending in one way they reallocate it somewhere else.
The hayes trade was one of the only ones that made sense.
And if they really wanted to save money, they would have traded Pham, IKF, and Heaney. They’re all making multiple millions through the rest of the year.
His trades are indicative of a bonus for trimming roster pay and every game under .500 in a season
I’ll never believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Actions speak louder than words. People can think about Hayes however they want, but this was a pure salary dump. Jared Triolo is not a long term answer at 3B, it’s just a similar player for a cheaper price.
I guess the cash considerations weren’t known to the GM. 😂
That’s funny.
Oh it’s not supposed to be….
He’s talking to Milwaukee to see if they want Skenes for Priester….
It absolutely was a salary dump, but I don’t think they were wrong to do it. And Starfura is probably the best prospect they acquired in any of their trades by a wide margin.
Hayes contract is peanuts, yes. But it isn’t going to age well because he misses time every season already, he is borderline worthless with the bat, and as soon as his glove drops off what do you have? A guy making 8 mill a year that you’re tied to for 8 years. They would have done the same thing with Reynolds since he’s one year in and already useless, but he has a no trade. It’s the years, not the money, that makes them both bad deals.
