We weren’t too fond of it the first time. No, I didn’t. I I wasn’t wanting to come back, but then of course, you know, this is the the Post Malone uh Dallas Cowboys inspired Raven Games. Uh we saw some other other Cowboys fans in here as well. It was quite busy and so had to come back. Wasn’t expecting much, but have to say 100% better. 100% better. I would say probably the first experience was like a five. Just average. Yeah. No reason to come back. This one seven. I’d come back. Do you think we were biased because it was to do with the cowboy stuff? Yeah, it definitely made it taste better, but I was a little upset because I did get my sticker um with my meal, but I only got one uh piece of that Texas toast or whatever the hell it is, and you guys got two. They’ve changed the VIP section around, which is which is fine. Um, practice does start at 2 p.m. So, the guys haven’t even hit the field. You can just see people are getting set up and uh getting their their cameras ready to go. The best thing about these joint practices is that it’s like right here in front of us. Uh, you don’t have to deal with the secondary side. Um, you don’t have to deal with the bleacher views or anything like that. The bleacher views aren’t bad. Um, you can actually see the whole field. The problem with the bleach reviews is that the live stream streaming is terrible over there. So, right now you can see Boots is going to get some extra angles from for us there. Again, Bootsy, whether or not you’re talking, I can’t hear you. That’s okay. I’m going to see if I can zoom in on your camera here. Nice thing about this is I can kind of control Bootsie’s camera. I can zoom in a little bit there for you guys. So, so what we did last time, five, five was nice and clear. Kind of get a nice little closeup. Zoom back out here. It was pretty really cool. Uh and then over here on the right hand side, I see Maurice Lu. It looks like the linebacker core is uh going to be out here today and they are in this close section doing a couple of stretches. And on the far right over here, we have those lamb chops. We have the Rams seem to be getting a couple of stretching and little working out on the right hand side. Eventually, we’ll get both teams on the same field playing against each other, but right now it looks like everyone’s here just getting loose. I see uh Jiren Tober right here in front of us. I got number 54, big Sam Williams right over here walking in front of us. Well, that’s not that’s not Sam Williams. I’m sorry. That is Dakota Shepley. He’s a guard. I’m all I was like, “Wow.” You know, Sam Williams gained some weight. But no, that is Dakota Shepley. Maybe he’s going to go for a dart. Who knows? Um but he was just showing us a little bit of the field um action there. Um we’ll hit him back once he gets to that secondary camera angle. We’ll stay on yours for a minute here. Boots. Actually, he’s showing us what uh this is interesting for everybody. As you can see, nobody is in the merchandising tent right now because everybody is just waiting on this practice to start. Uh 2 p.m. practice is going uh going to begin. Boots, when when you do these joint practices, does does it kick off right away like an actual uh game or what what usually happens? What usually happens? No. Uh what what I’ve seen in other years that I’ve come here for the joint practice, they normally start off with a couple of drills. So it’ll be, you know, our team against their team, but they’ll have a little seven on seven or maybe they’ll just have the backup quarterbacks and the wide receivers kind of set up to play. And then, you know, you’ll have like the Cowboys wide receivers with the corners and safeties from uh from the Rams and then vice versa on the other side. So you’ll have a lot of stuff going on at the exact same time. Both fields will be in use. Uh you’ll see a little bit of everything. You’ll see the linebackers kind of doing some blocking drills against the Rams and stuff like that. So we’ll get a little bit of all that. And then towards the end, normally like the last 15 20 minutes, you’ll start seeing a lot of uh a lot of one-on-one, not one-on-one, but you’ll start seeing the 11 on 11. And you might get a mixture of ones and twos against ones and twos. And sometimes on the other offensive side of the field, you’ll see the threes and the fours lining up against the threes and the fours from the uh from the Rams. So, like I said, there’s a lot going on. Uh I I’ll try my best to kind of like follow the action wherever I can see it or wherever I see at least our premier players. Wherever I see Dak Prescott, um, I’ll be trying to follow him. And, uh, any of our CD Lambs or CP3, I try to follow him as well. Um, in the moment, I’m actually looking for Michael Parsons. I have not spotted him yet. So, I’m kind of looking around up and down and see if I can see him. But there is, uh, a huge media presence here today. ESPN uh, is stationed right in front of me. Uh, NFL Network’s to the right. We got uh big uh Isaiah Standback right in front of me with those big old muscles. He’s right there. So, the media is full and present here today. The two biggest steps later on, the two biggest steps cuz we’ve been just uh watching the Dallas Cowboys offense and the Rams defense and they’re kind of cycling through one, twos, and threes um because the Rams are on the other field. Too hard for us to see. Their offense is on the other field. But uh we have seen um it looks like Williams is going to be the de facto number one. I don’t think that’s a big surprise, but he he was getting a lot of the the handoffs and some even some passing plays, too. And uh a couple nice uh crosses and or or uh slants from Turpin. Okay. So, Turpin’s made some moves. What? So, you you you commented on the running backs. Jayon Blue do anything yet? Have we seen any Jade on Blue sightings? Like there is some questions and these preseason games are going to really tell us a lot. I’m worried the more every time I see a highlight of Jay on Blue, I’m like, “Fuck, Ad was talking about him being the starter and getting all these carries and I kind of I I went into anth mode and yelled at him a little bit.” But he no fifth round running back is going to become the starter for the Dallas Cowboys. It’s just not going to happen. Well, I didn’t sound like that. So I think what Okay, I don’t think anything’s going That’s the most emotion ad shown for the in the last two hours. What would you need him to do on Saturday to be like give him give him time week one, give him 10 carries, give him 15 carries week one. What would he have to do in this preseason game? Jay on blue. I mean, I think in the short amount of time that he’ll have, he’ll need to like average 10 yards per touch, whether that’s pass or run, and probably get a touchdown or two. Just a big break. Like, if he if he breaks one for 60 yards, you know, we’re going to go nuts. Yeah, exactly. if he if he breaks one for 60 yards and then continues on the other his other touches to be to show like whoa like a big five to eight yard gain or something like that and fighting through tackles even if it’s hit at the line of scrimmage but get three yards that type of thing will stand out to me and being like okay these are things that we needed the Cowboys to be able to do and what I think you know ultimately we’re looking to replace Duce dear lord Alex Rico O D. Yeah. Um, which I love Rico Dow and but he was a oneman one dude trying to do it all for the Cowboys and we got I think what I think we got three guys that are going to be rotating in the background. It’s because I think back to since Can Fans been doing the show, right? The live streams, all this jazz. And I think back to the preseasons that we’ve watched and I try to think back to like players that made the team from preseason and I’d say the main guy I can think about is Turpin. Remember Turpin that one year that he had the kickoff return and the punt return? Yeah. In the same game. But then I I try to think back like last year I feel there was a bunch of room for a receiver to step up. I feel like there was a lot of room for a running back to step up and you never really saw it. So, I’m hoping like like Dak Prescott’s rookie year, Dak Prescott was the best player in the preseason. Guy [ __ ] balled out. He won his spot on the team essentially and made people convinced that okay, Romo might be hurt, but this guy we don’t feel like we’re up shit’s creek, right, without a paddle. So, I want to see somebody this season kind of have an impact similar to like what Dak had. a guy that say a Jaydon blue who’s in the fifth round but he has strings along three games in a row that you’re like holy [ __ ] maybe this guy needs to get the bulk of the carries or a wide receiver that’s like maybe this guy needs to get the bulk of the the four wide receiver four reps. You know what’s nice about it is that there are a lot of guys who have that potential especially look at the Dline and it’s kind of been a bit of a it’s a crowded parking lot is how I’m going to look at it because we were supposed to see uh Sam Williams last year. We were supposed to then be a then be looking at Marshon Neland this year. Both those guys got injured. So are they going to be kind of coming in to this season at the same pace basically and which is good. I like to see that. Then I keep forgetting about Dante Fowler. Fowler Jr. who’s off off his careerh high in Washington. Had a lot of sacks. Interesting enough yesterday at practice they had Sam Williams lined up at Sam linebacker. So kind of like a little bit of a three four look where you take a guy like Demarcus Wear was officially a linebacker, right? But he was known as rushing the passer. So you take a guy like Sam Williams who we got to remember a couple years ago was gunning gunning on punts, right? So an athletic guy who can clearly is fast. You put him on the outside and now you have you can take your five best rushers in a passing down and just let them go. Yeah, exactly. That’s what I’m excited about. And and you couple that with having some, you know, I’m hopeful for the linebackers that we picked up in the offseason that they’re going to be adequate and and and the Cowboys have been missing that adequate linebacker. Um I’m excluding Overshan from that because he was more of a coverage. I don’t know. He was kind of a he’s a speedster. Speedster. So, the Dallas defense was, uh, versing the Rams offense on the right field, which has like zero view for us. So, we didn’t cover it at all. Obviously, people who are showing up to Oxnard are wanting to see Dallas’s offense primarily. They want to see what Dak and Pickkins and Lamb are going to do. So, they’re going to have that on the lefth hand field. Right now, Boots is showing the right field and uh we’re getting the best view possible. It’s next to like if I zoom out, it’s next to impossible to see what’s going on. You just keep it where you got. No, zoom zoom back in. So, Boots, uh what everybody wants to know, even though they’re not asking, is when you’ve gone to four practices this year, what’s your biggest takeaway with the eye test? because everybody here at home are seeing all the great plays that are being clipped by uh reporters, but being there for your 15th year, your fourth practice of this year, what’s your eye test telling you, Bootsy? Uh well, the eye test things that you can see, but only by being here is just the the the energy that’s that this team is putting forward on the field. the Ebra flu system, the shotty uh system that’s been the new management, the new leadership that we have on the team. It really uh transitions to the players because you’re seeing a whole new team out here. You’re seeing guys that you never even really heard of before like like your uh like your Perion Winfries, your Jack Sandborns. Uh you got your Jay Toyas who are out here making a big difference. Sam Williams is looking like a cannon being shot or like a ball shot out of a cannon every time the the ball moves. And you got all these guys that traditionally you don’t really get a good look at. Uh but like your Jon Blues, your Phil Mafas look pretty good out here as well. Oh yeah, your Jonathan Mingos, you know, and then you know, you get a closeup of uh of CP3 or GP3 and and you already know what you got with CD Lamb, but just watching this offense uh offensive firepower, people like uh Ferguson out here, uh you really get to see a lot uh that you don’t really get to see on TV or any of the videos yet. So, you really get a good feeling about what we got going to be able to put on the field this year. uh Boots you all all the years you’ve been to if someone’s wanting to plan for next year um what would be the best day to kind of see the most that you can see I mean obviously it’s not going to be the same every year but in your experience like is it practice one is it the first week or is it better to come out maybe closer to this uh joint practice absolutely the later you wait the better because the first week we really just got guys walkthroughs. The pads don’t even come on. Uh there is that opening weekend they do where you got Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones. They’re doing their speeches. You get the cheerleaders out here and they do a couple performances. That’s always nice to see for the family. But if you really want to get to the nitty-gritty, you want to watch the players perform. You want to come here after that first week of of practice when the pads come on and they start hitting each other. And then especially a day like today when they’re doing the joint practices and there’s a little bit of light hitting. Uh but definitely towards that last week of training camp is when they start really tackling. Obviously they want to wait, you know, you don’t want anybody getting hurt because I mean you saw how it was that first week. We had like what three or four players get hurt on that first week of pads. So they try to limit that contact and save it for uh the the regular season for when it actually counts.
