HIGHLIGHTS: Sox Launch 4 Homers in Win Over Angels (8.1.25)
Trade deadline has come and gone. The core of the Angels are sticking together. If you look at the A O wild card standings, they have to jump five teams. I get it. You’re 4.5 back. There’s a lot of baseball left. So here’s Tyler anderson 17 straight starts without a w not entirely his fall last time went four and two thirds but pitch. Well, here’s the 22 and there’s a swing and a miss and down on that cutter goes Tchin struck him out swinging and that’s the game’s first out drives that one. Center field, joe Adell on his horse at the track at the wall and makes the catch. Well, that’s better for Joe Adell. Great grab just kept drifting. That ball carried pretty good warm afternoon. It’s still pretty warm right now on the mound for the white Sox, shane Smith, 86 and two thirds had, er, a, a little bit elevated in downstairs ball, four leadoff walk walk, but there’s a base hit right through the hole 1st and 3rd. You love to see that good contact once again for sean O. Well, he’s just a really solid hitter. The bases are loaded for Joe Adell as the Angels look to put up an early crooked number and take the lead snap throw to third and he got him, edgar Caro shows off the arm so many things to like about edgar Carro and that’s a play that you probably put on at third base with Josh Rojas Sean Carroll going out to second and it’s a good blow but safe is Taylor Ward ball was dropped. That’s a break there surprised that Carroll didn’t try to take the lead runner at third 32, swing and a Miss strike three chased a slider. The bases are loaded once again for Logan Hopi can’t let him off the hook, the pitch swinging a ground ball to third picked up by Rojas and he throws across to Vargas and somehow shane Smith gets out of it. Andrew Benintendi starts off the second. Benintendi deep to right field back. He goes, get out and Betty Bob just what the doctor ordered after that long inning for Benintendi his 14th of the season and the Sox take a 10 lead here in the second. Another look at it right here. Anderson tries to throw that cutter 84 miles an hour. It stayed on the inner third and Benee squared it up a little abbreviated Carlton Fish trying to keep that baby fair. Leine Soo, he’s coming off a huge offensive series against the Phillies during which he went seven for nine. This one is sent a long way to left field Ward looking up and it is not coming back, Sosa, a solo shot here in the second inning for Sosa his 11th of the season and the Sox take a 20 lead here in Los Angeles White Sox playing some long ball off of Tyler anderson. Anderson tried to sneak that cutter on the inner third. That’s really his go to pitch against righties. So throw that changeup away. You see where hays setting up in and he just beats him to the spot, hit hard and that went to the gap in right center field. Vgas will take the big turn, thought about it but we go back to the bag a single to start this fourth inning. Now, Benintendi who gave the Sox the lead with a leadoff home run in the second beckons to hold another one and it goes off the wall in right Campero cannot make the catch and the Sox will have runners at 2nd and 3rd to start. This fourth inning gets a little dicey down in that right field corner, that low wall. You see a lot of outfielders get to that wall but it’s about chest high. Robert junior high in the air to left center A comes in tagging and scoring is Miguel Vargas. A sack fly RB I for lap and the Sox take a 30 lead, a productive out and I love it to a lot of the White Sox players on the top step of the dugout. A productive out. The batter is Rojas and he hits a chopper fair off the glove of Shanell and his throw is going to be late. The first he kicked into foul territory anderson was over to cover but Rojas beat it. This should be an error. Shana was in the spot some early traffic on the bases here. No outs, two on saw it off Meadow going back. Oh, it’s a great read. It’s good play makes it look easy. Next delivery and Vargas pops one in the air into shallow right field. Campero is under, he’ll make the catch on that one and fires the ball to third. No advancement doesn’t hit very deep in right. This is popped in the air on the third base side. Let’s see who’s going to make the call. It will be moncada still on the dirt. Third baseman catches that pop up and that is how the inning will end. So they leave a couple on, they had runners at 1st and 2nd. No outs. Anderson pitching out the trouble and he has his fourth stolen base of the season. He’s at second with one away and Campero will be the next batter swinging at that. A drive right center field hit. Well, its it down. Gustavo Cerro two run home run that went 43, 38 430 8 ft. Well, he got his pitch work the count and that is some serious damage. That’s 100 and nine MPH. That’s the swing you want on a 20 count. Two down. Nobody aboard. Sixth inning. Montgomery will bat sends a high fly ball out in the deep center field. Joe Adele’s gonna watch it fly away. He’s done it again. Coulson Montgomery with his sixth of the year and it’s 4 to 2 and Montgomery has been doing it against lefties as well as righties. And if he’s your everyday future shortstop or corner third baseman, he’s proving that you don’t have to worry about who’s starting that day. Just insert him in the lineup is going to the bullpen, newly acquired from the nationals. Andrew and he gets a pop up meadow going back. Ward coming in. He calls for it slides, takes a divot, makes the catch have to replace that. Divit Jet says well done a long way to run that one down too. Especially with Netto is so aggressive. Going back on the baseball to have a pair of runners on. That’s a big time pop up. Let’s stay in play. Look at Chafin hustling over, get the netting. That’s a great play. He makes the catch ground ball hit the Netto has it, has time throw to first will get Benee and the inning is over 63 ground out netto four for five this season with the bases loaded, including a grand slam, makes contact right there. Oh hapi tagging and that’s going to drive in a run and it’s 4 to 3. So with two down Nolan Shanell at the plate and this one is lined in the right field Toman comes up throwing a second. The run will come in. They get the runner at third and no, the run does not score. Home plate umpire John Tom Payne is waving off the run as the runner got thrown out at third. You can’t be out of third base on that one. Luis Garc-a in his third trip with the Angels. He is back smacks it into center field and La Pantera a good start. A chance for the Sox to get another tack on. See if Robert wants to run. There goes robert Junior the throw down and no way you’re not getting him with that kind of jump stolen base here in the eighth inning and a terrific job by Sosa too. Pitch to Sosa is whacked out into right. A base hit robert around third is going to score and it’s 5 to 30, that was a beautiful swing by Sosa. It will be Rojas Taman and Carol for the White Sox in the night. Big fly to center field Bec is Adele at the wall. Josh Rojas goes big fly here in Anaheim his second of the season and the Sox add another making it 6 to 3 here in the ninth. Stephen wilson came on in the eighth a one to 2 to 3 inning 1 to 2 and he struck him out swinging on another sweeper payoff for wilson caught him looking strike three. What a great pitch. 3 to 23 to 2 breaking ball, two balls, two strikes. Wilson blew it by him and that ball game. What a start to this west coast road trip. The Sox with a 6 to 3 win in the opener against the Angels.
Andrew Benintendi launched his 14th home run of the season and Lenyn Sosa hit his 11th to give the Sox a 2-run lead after the top of the 2nd inning.
In the top of the 4th inning, Luis Robert Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to score Miguel Vargas.
Angels got within one run in the bottom of the 5th on a Gustavo Campero homer.
Colson Montgomery answered quickly with a home run of his own in the top of the next frame to straight center field. His 5th home run of the season went 433 feet.
Los Angeles rallied in the bottom of the 7th on a Zach Neto sacrifice fly. White Sox lead by 1.
Lenyn Sosa added on an insurance run with an RBI single to score Luis Robert Jr in the top of the 8th.
Josh Rojas homered in the top of the 9th to center field to extend the Sox lead.
All-Star Shane Smith got the start, going 4.1 innings with 4 strikeouts. Jordan Leasure was dominant in his relief appearance, striking out 4 Angels over 1.2 innings. Dan Altavilla and Grant Taylor each earned a hold. Steven Wilson earned the save, pitching 2.0 innings and fanning 3 batters.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 6-3, at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California.

I’m gonna be there tomorrow I hope I get Luis and Colson Autos!!!
❤❤
If they would have just beat the Cubs after the All-Star break we would have four straight series victories but don't stop now boys! Great game. Good hitting the pitching was a little suspect for Shane but he's been gone for a while and he did go four innings and so I'm not too mad at him. I love to see the long balls. It's about time!🧦🧦🧦
Sox got some dudes!
Yo… these boys got blessed by the Pope or somethin
I'm so proud of these boys!
It's August 1st, and the Sox have already matched their victory total from all of last year. Makes me wonder if this is a foretaste of what could be for next year?
As soon as someone makes a Jordan Leasure Apology Form I'm filling it out.

Make Baseball Great Again #### Go Sox Go #### Oh Mercy #### That's a can of corn and a great day in America 🇺🇸. Sox are back Baby
Sure, it's a long way to go but IF the nucleus of this team continues playing exciting ball, heck, even not winning EVERY series yet still wins some game, one might argue that a great Spring Training and definitely a good start next season winning even 500. ball could propel this team's character even more, imo.
