Athletics vs. Nationals Game Highlights (8/5/25) | MLB Highlights

And on the mound for the Washington Nationals, that’s McKenzie Gore’s 23rd start on the year. Shay Langalers. And look at this. Very first career game batting lead off. There’s the one two now to Langalers in the air towards right center field going back and Shay Langalers with a lead off home run. One to nothing A’s. And I say he looks pretty good at the top of the order. Bangalers puts the barrel on it. This ball shot to the big part of the ballpark. Little backside boogie for the back stop out to right center. Here’s Nick Curts. And this is going to be into right field for Nick Curts. So back to backs to start things off as Nick Curts gets on base. Now has an on base streak of 20 straight games. And here’s Brent Rooker. And he’s going to go to left. This one bouncing to the wall. Nick Curts heading to third and Rooker will be into second with a double homer single double. What a way for the A’s to start against Mackenzie Gore. And there’s two in scoring position now with nobody down. That’ll bring up JJ Blade hitting cleanup and a couple of runners on for him to try and bring home here. Nobody out. And he swings at the first pitch. He’s going to dump it into right field. Here comes Nick Curt. And rounding third into home is Brent Rooker. A two RBI knock for JJ Blade on the heels of a four for four game. Three nothing A’s and we’re four batters into it. Kinsey Gore finally recording it out here on the fifth batter. Well, here’s Daryl Hern swung on. Fly ball to center field going back as Jared Young near the track. On the track near the wall, leaps up and did he make the catch? It is gone. A two-run homer for Daryl Hern and the A’s lead it five to nothing. Middle to inner half. Daryl just uses the big man strength, the biggest part of the yard, basically dead center and just beyond the reach of Jared Young. I mean, he climbed the wall perfectly and it was still over his leaping left paw. This is an amazing start to start this road trip. 5 nothing Athletics. Luis Everino’s 24th start of the year. Five and 11. CJ Abrams leads it off. There’s a ground ball to Kurts and he’ll walk it on over to first. One out. with James Wood the batter and the pitch a 3-2. This is on the ground. One hopper to Schuman. He’ll take his time and off to first. Two gone. Luis Garcia Jr. Two and one. This is in the air to right field and Thomas will go over towards center and make the catch. Three up, three down for Luis Sabberino. We go to the bottom of the second. Josh Bell is the hitter. And Severino will collect the strikeout. The first strike out for Louise. Five in a row retired by Severino to start the game. game and that’ll bring out Brady House as the pitch taken strike three called on the inside edge and Severino picks up his second strike and he’s retired six straight. Golf man aboard for the A’s in all three innings so far. Going is Thomas. Here’s the throw down and it’s into center field. Thomas will only take the base at second, but that will be his first stolen base. He is a super athlete. RBI chance for Daryl Thomas at second. Here’s a ground ball and Garcia will play it on the left side. He’ll bounce it over to low, but it goes off his gloves. The Ace have runners on the corners. Nobody out. Tyler Sodro into left field is Soderstrom and he’ll get in with the knock. Add an RBI as Kobby Thomas comes home. It’s 6 nothing A’s. The A’s some confident swings against Mackenzie Gore here tonight. The runners will move up their A’s to third, Soderstrom to second with the first out of the inning. The batter now will be Matt Schuman. There’s a grounder to House who’s going to come home with the throw. And they’ve got the runner trapped. Will run him back. Tag applies to House. Nobody else advances. Picture perfect there on the infield. Get it to the lead base right away. Brady House doing that. Not holding on to it. Get rid of it. And then Drew Millis. Run him back as long as you can. Make him commit the moment he commits. There you go. Flip it. Perfectly done. A sharp grounder to short. And Gore is out of the inning with only a one run on the board. Nick Curts as he leads off the fourth against Mackenzie Gore. Not the best night for Mackenzie Gore. Nick Curts out towards the gap and coming into center fielder, Jacob Young. He dives and Wood’s going to have to get it out by the fence. A double added to Nick Curts’s offensive evening. So Rooker now at 273 is Rooker into right. So an opposite field hit for Brent Rooker. Here comes Curts. The throw home will be cut off and it is seven to nothing. I mean, just backto back outstanding at bats from the green and goal. And that’s going to be it for Mackenzie Gore. Seven runs surrendered so far. Responsible for Rooker at first base. Clayton beer on now hoping to be able to not only put this inning to bed here for the Nats. See how long he can go after that. Left-handed hitter in JJ Blade. JJ to center field going back is Jacob Young and he’s going to watch it fly. Leay with a two-run shot and his offense continues to tear this week. Clayton Beater gets torched. Bombs away for JJ Blade, baby. Nine nothing A’s. Hey, one away and Luis Garcia Junior. Garcia hits one well and that’s past a diving Schuman over there at second. And that second hit goes to Luis Garcia Jr. Two away, runner at first. And the batter will be Nathaniel Low. Pitches inside alone. It’s ball four. The Nets will have two on with two out. And Brady House coming up. Yeah, there you go. This one down the right field line. That’ll fall fair. In to score is Garcia. Little all the way to third. And now House trapped between second and first. Could have maybe gotten back to first there safely. Tag applied by Hern. And that’ll end the fourth. The Nats get their first run, but a base running blunder will end the inning. Shay Langalers, the hitter. Langelers two for three. Shay, here’s the payoff pitch and the left field. This one is going to stay fair and gone. Shay Langalers with a multi-H homer day. Number 21 on the season. And he gives the A’s 10 runs and a nine-run lead. Bangali took care of business. Oh yeah, that’s a fair ball. Ash’s come to bang in the bottom of the sixth inning against Luis Severino. CJ Abrams. Yeah, Abrams will ground one left side and a leadoff knock for CJ who’s going to think about two and then shut it down. And so Wood wouldn’t be going to first with this count unless he was hit by the pitch. And the Nationals have runners on first and second with nobody out. Garcia through the right side and it’ll bring Abrams to third. Stop sign held up there by Ricky Cutier. are loaded for the Nets with nobody out. Bell could not get it done. Nathaniel Low will come up now for the Nationals and it’s inside ball four and a run comes home the easy way. A bases loaded walk for Nathaniel Low. He drives in his 64th run of the year as Abrams crosses the plate. All right, if you’re Brady right here, you feel like he your goal should be to hit a nice line drive fly ball to right center right here. hits one well out to center. Adul will make the catch. Two runners will move up. In to score is Wood Garcia advancing to third and Brady House’s 16th big league RBI. The Nets have put up two here in the sixth. At the end of six innings our score, the A’s 10 and the Nationals three. Shay is three for four with a pair of homers in his first ever game batting in the number one position. A one pitch hit in the air to right center field. Retreating is Young. He’s still going back at the track at the wall. He does have more fireworks. It’s a three homer game for Langalers. Oh my. 11 to three. Langelers hits his 22nd of the year. His third of the game and his 48th run batted in. This one on the ground backhanded by Luis Garcia Jr. He’ll use the ground and safe for Kurts. JJ Blade, four RBI to his name off a single and a homer. Make it a three hit night for JJ. Holy Thomas reached base tonight, but still looking for his first hit. And could this be it? It is. It bounces in front of Lyall and Thomas will load up the bases. Four hits against Lada here in the seventh inning and they are showing no signs of slowing whatsoever. Daryl Hernese to center field on the move is Young. He’s going to leap up and make the catch. Add an RBI for Hern as Nick Curts comes home. 20 hits for the A’s collected here. Score now 12-3. So here’s our cello with a single to center and that will bring up Max Schuman. And Schuman on the ground charging at it will be Brady House to second. Schuman safe at first. Here’s Shay Langalers. Swing from Shay. It’s on the ground and it’s a fair ball. Shay will add another hit. It’s not a homer, but how about an extra base hit? Fifth hit of the night. And here is Nick Curts. Second walk of the night. Add to his three hits. And that loads the bases for Brent Rooker. One to Rooker. This one on the ground and pass a diving Brady House into left field. Tucked in the line. A couple more runs coming home. Brent Rooker adding some ribbies and it is now 14-3. So second and third. JJ Blade up with one out. He swings at it. The first pitch to center field. He’s not going to get to it off the wall and more extra base hits. You got to be kidding me. 163 Athletics. Team runs on 24 hits. And here’s Eduardell Nunes for Milis with one down. Here’s the O2. Swing a line drive shallow left. That’s going to dunk in for a hit. So a single for Millis here in the ninth with one out. And that will bring up Jacob Young. High chopper right side. Young booking it down the line and he beats it level. A hard 90 in the bottom of the ninth inning down by 13. Have two on and the Nationals down to their final out. So here’s Robert Hassel to third. Here’s the set. The one two. Hassel grounds one fair inside the third base bag down the line. It hits the side wall. Milis will come in to score. They’re going to hold Young at third and Hassel jogs into second with an RBI double. That’ll make it 16-4. Here is Garcia. Second and third. The two- two pitch swing a line drive right center field. That’s a base hit up the gap. Cut off by the right fielder Thomas. Two runs are going to score. It’s now 16 to six. Nationals have three home in the ninth. Garcia has his third hit. That hit Josh Bell in second now with Nathaniel Low coming up. Another one pulls down and into a left-handed hitter. Both Garcia and Bell will advance and it’s 3-2 now to low. Misses down and in. And for the first time in his career, Nathaniel Lo has walked four times in a game. Brady House with the bases loaded. All right, House draws a four pitch walk. Nun is really struggling with commands and that’s going to do it for him. Garcia trots home to score. It’s 16-7. Here’s Ovaldo on strike still for Dalon right here. One two pitch that strike three called and the ball game is over. Wido strikes out Lyle. Four runs in the inning.

  1. Can SOMEONE tell that woman that calling a hit a “knock” doesn’t make her sound better or more knowledgeable. It just makes her sound stupid.

  2. Nooooooooo!! I thought we were free from the nightmare that is the voice of Jenny Cavnar! Welp, I guess I'll have to watch A's highlights on mute again.👎Rangersforever❤

  3. The hottest hitter is the lead off hitter…I like the way kotasay mixes up the lineup..way to go A's!!! Let s go 9n a 15 game streak and get back in the race🎉

  4. Great, A's. Next year could you play like this early on; when you're above .500? thanks… I'm looking forward to it!
    Congrats on the win 🟢

  5. As have some of the worst announcers I've ever heard especially with Jenny Cavnar back. She sounds like she doesn't want to be there even in a game where they're having a blowout in a huge offensive performance all of her calls are super uninspired. She literally has the job for one reason.
