Jets Fan Rich Eisen Can’t Wait for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers in Week 1 | The Rich Eisen Show

And then the other Aaron’s coming back week one to start the season because you know the NFL schedule makers were like uh we think Rogers is going to play for the Steelers and we’re going to give that on a plate to the National Football League audience week one. Will McDonald um who’s definitely in the mix of best pass rusher on the New York Jets um had this to say about facing Rogers week one. Yeah, you know, I always wanted to, you know, sack Rogers, you know, from a league kid. Actually, let me not say that cuz a league kid, I wasn’t even interested in playing football. But I did watch him though. I watch him a lot. But, you know, once I, uh, you know, like, like I said, when I first came here, um, obviously I wasn’t, you know, able to do that on team. But, uh, now, you know, I think he’s going to be, uh, very competitive. I’m sure he already knows, you know, what I’m about. So, I’m sure he gonna have his head on his shoulders. You know, obviously, he’s the vet. So, so he got a couple tricks up his sleeve. It’s fine. Great week one game. Week one Sunday marquee, I think. Oh, yeah. Certainly in the early window. Maybe the entire, you know, the entire day up until the point the Lions and Packers kick off in Lambeau Field at 4:25 Eastern, 3:25 local time. That’s a great early window game. Oh yeah. I think Panthers and Jags is kind of sneaky. No, I I I I’m not talking sneaky. I’m talking marquee pal. Mar like settle in. Let’s I got to see this. Yeah. With all due respect to every other There’s a lot of good games. No, I’m not saying there aren’t. Yeah. I mean, you can make a great case for Cam Ward versus Bo Knicks as we did at the end of hour one. Bucks Falcons. Oh, yeah. Sure. Whatever quarterbacks in Cleveland, they’re all higher register ones compared to Oh, Rogers coming back to Met Life. Yeah, I’m with you. Now, you said something the other day. Was it on air or air or off? Eric, I think we were I think the show had just kind of ended. I think we were You’re like Steelers Jets. And you gave us a total combined win number. Yeah. Of you gave us a total combined win number of 18. It was high to start. Yeah. Right. Yeah, like and Steelers Jets at the end of the day 18 and then you then lowered it after TJ and I are like, “Wait a minute.” Well, I was looking at looking at Vegas, too. What is it? So, Vegas has the Jets win total at 5 and a half and the Steelers. That’s really And the Steelers at 8 and a half, right? Yeah. Yeah. That’s right. So, that’s that’s 14. That’s 14 combined for both of them. I would take the combined over there. Five and a half. Listen, say what you will about the Jets, man, but five and a half, that cupboard is not bare. That cupboard is definitely not bare. No, all that hinges on on fields of course and how you think he’s got his form, his health, Aaron Glennon, his first run at it. Rookie coach, uh, tough schedule. So, that’s kind of what that So, but eight and a half means eight and a half for the Steelers. I know that means that somebody out there in a town where Mo Green doesn’t have a plaque or a signpost, which by the way, what an outrage. Disgrace. Disgrace. An outrage. Yeah, I’m with you. Um, but that’s the other thing. Put this doer schedule up. We’ve gone through this. But very difficult. This means though, this means though that the there’s some people who think Tomlin’s going to have his first losing record as a head coach. Yeah, you’re getting plus money if you go over. Come on. I’ll take I’ll take that bet. Plus, which is what? They’re not finishing under 500. I agree with you. Mike Tomlin’s allergic to finishing under 500. Might not win the Super Bowl, but they they make the playoffs. They make They’re going to do a schedule and find me nine wins. They have a better This is the best quarterback. Hold on. I’ll You want me to find you nine wins? Find nine wins. I can see them going three and 0 to start. Wow. So, that’s half That’s a third. Okay. Okay. Cleveland. The Cleveland’s another at home. That’s four. Four. Okay. Um, home for Indianapolis could be five. Five. Um, the Chargers. At the Chargers. It’s a tall order, but No, but No, no, it’ll be I know that. I know it’ll be loud in there. It’s going to be All right. Sure. I’ll give you that. How many How many No, no, that’s feasible. You say where are they? That’s six. They’re going to split with the Ravens. How about this one? How about this one? What? Out of the games that Rogers will not lose, right? Like if you want to put it in the category as if he could wave a wand and just say, “I’m going to do this my own self,” right at Chicago? You betcha. You bet. Wait a minute. Why Why would that be bigger than Cuz he’s Well, cuz he’s the one that famously put the belt on there, man, and said he owned the team. Yeah. And he will Excuse me. I’m I’m That’s number one of them all, please. Right. Right. But uh the Packers are pretty darn good. We need to see what the Bears look like. That could be a tough order, but you know, he’s going to go into that game. Oh yeah. All week long it’s going to be this that the other thing about what he used to say there. He’ll have his fun with it, but then he’ll show up and he will want to complete that circle. He’s going through the NFC North for the last time here. And I understand his body might not be able to cash whatever his heart is trying to write as a check. True. And his soul. Okay. Um, home from Miami is absolutely a Monday night in the middle of December where it could be 20°. That’s one. Oh, yeah. True. Yeah. You’re not wrong. It’s a very tough schedule. One of the Cincinnati games. They could get they could get one of the Cincinnati games easily. The eight and a half to go. Don’t forget the defense is pretty damn good, too. Yeah. Well, they have one receiver, questionable running back, a shaky offensive line. What was the Chris Brockman win total? Forget Vegas. You said 16, right? Between the Steelers and the Jets, I think that 89 is is good for the Steelers. And I think the Jets maybe at seven. I would put it maybe like 15 and a half. TJ, you take the over under and 15 and a half wins for the Steelers and the Jets. I’ll take the over. Nine. I would take the over. I’ll take the over on that. I think the Jets win at least. You think seven and 10 for the Jets? Is that what you’re Is that what you’re feeling there? I think the Jets win seven and I I don’t I I don’t I don’t want to put a win total on it other than the fact that they’re better than five and 12, dude. I don’t know that. Barring injury. Okay. I don’t know that they have enough talented guys out there. Well, they added the talent the last two years also. Understood. Things were just not It’s It’s a new world there. I mean, I like the vibes and in terms you should like the vibes and on top of it being a new world. They pay guys. Perfect example, a perfect example of this being a new world is Justin Fields didn’t suffer a season ending injury and could just cover it up with plastic, right? Like a tarp, you know? That’s new. That’s new fangled right there. Oh, the Jets caught a break from the football injury gods. Oh. Huh. We call that a wrinkle. That’s an Oh, Henry like twist to the end of a football story. It’s absolutely personal sounding lol he refused to acknowledge the defense, said 1 wr lmao ignoring the 3 talented tight ends and CA3 who has killer speed, and he called Jaylen Warren shakey. He clearly has a vendetta. It’s so cringe.

  27. Tomlin coached Duck Hodges into the playoffs. I'm interested to know why so many of you think he's not a good coach. The exact same players from the Steelers' last 10 seasons under a different coach (or, to be real, in a more typically dysfunctional organization like a solid third of the league IS) would not likely win as many games as they have with the Steelers under Tomlin. It's just a fact.
    Possibly having a winning record and making the playoffs is the ceiling for at least a dozen franchises. It's the floor for Tomlin & the Steelers.
    My point is, until proven otherwise, betting that Tomlin will go under .500 is a bad bet regardless of who is under center.

  31. I am an old man, been a Steeler fan since I was a child. Seems to me (don't have the stats to prove it) the Steelers have some tough time playing out West.

    It's a tough schedule, this defense has to shine, T.J. Watt has to show up for his paycheck. Which he didn't in the playoff or the game before that, last year. Oh, he was there, but, zeros out of him.

    I am not so sure this is a "shaky" offensive line, it's unproven, because of injuries, but Jones goes to the left, where he is more comfortable, Troy Fautanu is back from an injury and the Steelers expect a lot of him and Zack Frazier is playing above average and might end up being the next great Steeler Center.

    You give Rodgers time, he likely still has the skills to pick apart defenses.

    The question mark might be the ground game, but I think this one is improved over Najee Harris, who had one of the lowest "success rates" of any featured back in the NFL. He got them 60 yards a game and would disappear in the playoffs.

    I would rather have Warren and have hopes the Steelers drafted well.

  35. Schedule makers: So the first game of the season on opening night we’ll have the Cowboys at the Eagles. For the Friday we’ll have the Chiefs vs the Chargers in Brazil. We’ll have the Dolphins at the Colts, The Raiders at the Patriots, The Cardinals at the Saints, The Steelers at the Jets, The Buccaneers at the Falcons, The Bengals at the Browns, The Giants at the Commanders and the Panthers at the Jaguars for the Early Window. For the late window we’ll have the Titans at the Broncos, The 49ers at the Seahawks, The Lions at the Packers. And for Sunday Night we’ll have the Ravens at the Bills. And for Monday Night we’ll have the Vikings at the Bears.

  41. I wish that "tough schedule" bullshit would end. The games have to be played and just cause a team was good last year doesnt mean it will be this year and vice versa

  42. the qb's aren't going to decide this game. Rodgers doesn't have much left and Fields has never had it. TJ Watt and Will McDonald are the ones to watch.

  44. Steelers are 6 win team at best. As a Steelers fan for many years, I have been through this before. It’s called the last 8 years. Hype machine gets rolling. Then the season starts. QB1 is old, WAS good, not even a top QB in the league currently. Mason is game manager at best and I hope to see Will Howard start after the bye. Running game is ……..nowhere to be seen or heard. D is good, not great. Injuries will make this a below average Defense by early November. It’s the same song.
