Devontez Walker Voted Training Camp’s Biggest Riser So Far | Baltimore Ravens Final Drive

As the Baltimore Ravens gear up for their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow night at the bank, one name continues to rise throughout training camp. Devontes Walker. In a recent media poll, 21 reporters who have regularly attended Ravens practices were asked which player stock is rising the most, and Tez Walker was the top vote getter. Now, Walker’s growth has been apparent even amid one of the most competitive wide receiver rooms in the NFL. The Ravens pass catching group is stacked with firstround talents like Zay Flowers, Rashad Baitman, and veteran star DeAndre Hopkins. Then you also have Tylen Wallace who has really made a name for himself the last few years. But Walker has also been making his case throughout training camp, coming up with a number of highlight worthy grabs. He’s a fast guy. He can make plays down the field. He can make plays across the field. TZ is is working his tail off uh as far as receiver and trying to hone his craft there, but he’s doing a tremendous job of just being in the playbook, understanding what he’s supposed to do, and then going out and trying to make plays each and every opportunity that he gets. Now, Walker’s emergence is really the result of both patience and persistence. Drafted as a mid-rounder, opportunities were limited during his rookie year, but he made the most of them. And of course, none bigger than his highlight reel touchdown against the Giants late last season. A play that quarterback Lamar Jackson still recalls. Me and Chess, our chemistry has been doing good since last year. You know, uh Giants game. He had his first touchdown, I believe. Um and you know, he’s he really haven’t been getting a lot of reps with me uh this camp, but I feel like we we’re right there. We right there. Learning from stars like Dehop, Baitman, and Flowers has also helped sharpen Walker’s approach. In a wide receiver room brimming with talent, Walker has taken on a sponge-like mentality, absorbing tips, studying coverages, and carving out a role both offensively and on special teams. It’s the kind of developmental leap the Ravens love to see, and one that could pay off dividends sooner rather than later. So, with the preeason kicking off Thursday night, I’ll be watching to see how Tez can carry his training camp momentum into game action. He’s just been so fun to watch at practice, and his stock is rising. So, if Walker keeps stacking days, staying ready, and making plays when called upon, he just might force his way more and more into Baltimore’s offensive plans for 2025. That’s it for us today. Thanks for watching and we’ll see you again tomorrow.

  1. Lets see if the team plays him when the season is underway against any team that can threaten us. Or in situations where a win is in question. I ain't gonna lie, we're doing this based off training camp and a game against the giants where they said "why not" cas they knew we would win that game anyway. He had a td that game but only had 2 catches on the year if I'm not mistaken. I hope he grows and is able to give a real boot to our wr room, but if they don't put him in real tight scenarios, then we know these hype vids for him are just smoke n mirrors.

  2. I mean he had the talent coming outta the draft, that alone was enough to garner a legit shot at playing real minutes in real games, but then he started really showing out and showing why he deserves to play.. Devontez been working hard and you can see it’s starting to pay off and see some results. After that first career target, reception and touchdown he showed himself and had to have understood the reality of being a real weapon in the league πŸ˜…
