New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers | Game Highlights (8/6/25)
And here he is, Jack Lighter going to make his 20th start on the year. And his numbers are kind of rounding into form. The walk’s a little high. His strikeouts in pretty good shape. The opposing batting average also, he’s kind of tough to hit. Hit hard and threw into right field. A base hit to start the day for Trent Gisham. Judge swinging three and 0 and pops it up in the infield. So, Judge always has that green light, but he pops out. Right now, he’s taking it one day at a time. Good step in the right direction as you see him throwing at 60 ft with John Carlos Stanton. He’ll throw again tomorrow. No timeline on when he potentially could be back in the field. I asked him if it’s just a pain tolerance thing. And he said anytime you have a muscle strain, you deal with a little bit of that soreness, but still optimistic he’s going to be an option soon, guys. And the big lefty on the mound, Carlos Rodon. This going to be his 24th start on the year. here. All the numbers are really good. The Yankees had a 6 nothing lead in the fifth in Miami and then he gave up four runs, failed to make it out of the fifth and that was that wild eventual 1312 loss. Good start here as Hagerty goes down the one two. He got him. Good first inning from Rodon. A couple of strikeouts as we go to the second. No score in Texas. Here are the Delbardan boys. Jack Lighter and Anthony Vulpi, friends, teammates in high school. Pretty good numbers that season for those two, I’d say. Yeah, they took different paths after that, right? I mean, they both were going to go to Vanderbilt. Jack did. Anthony said, “You know what? I think I’ll just uh I’ll sign with the Yankees.” Yeah. Colby little looping pop of foul and another nice catch made in foul ground down from third by Josh Smith. Hit hard. Chisum gloves tosses Vulpi to first in time. A flashy double play turned by Chisum and Vulpi. Two down. This is pretty as it gets. And rather than spinning Grant, he goes backhand with the flip and gets it to Vulpi. Chest high. Well done. Two-2 strike three. Got the call on the outside corner with a change up. So the Yankees put two on with two out, but Lighter gets Judge looking to end the threat. He one that’s turned on and lashed to left field. That is going to be off the wall. Goes by Dominguez and Ezekiel Durant is at second with a leadoff double. The two-2 job to the right side and through Durant rounding third. He will score. A good athletic piece of hitting from Sam Hagerty. And the Rangers take a one- nothing lead. Hit hard right to third. McMahon to second for one. On to first in time for the double play. Don trying to end it here. And the 02 fly ball shallow center. In comes Gisham. Inning over. So Rodon gives up one run. Nothing more. Bellinger leads off second. Dominguez off first. Good speed on the bases. The 2-2. Bulby lines that into left field. A base hit. gets one off his old buddy as Bellinger will score and this game is tied at one. Runners go here. Throw down to third. Not in time. Scoots away. Dominguez headed home. He will score and the Yankees take a 2-1 lead. Whitey Herszog used to say speed never goes into slough and the Yankees certainly have had trouble scoring runs. So use your speed. Great read. Great job. Push the envelope and it pays off. Hit hard towards the middle with Vulpy over to grab it. And a nice efficient one, two, three, fourth for Carlos Rodon. P 01 driven in the air center field. Gisham there lining it up to make the catch. Tagging and heading home is Durant. He will score. It’s a sacrifice fly for Marcus Simeon. And this game is tied at two. The two-2 grounded to short. Vulpi goes the short way to end the inning. The Rangers tie the game at two as we go to the sixth in Texas. Mark Lighter Jr. off the mound right to Chisum and that’s going to be an easy double play. They scooted through Lighter then ended up with Jazz and another double play turn by the Yankee infield. The third of the afternoon 22 as we go to the seven. Here’s Paul Goldmid. his career numbers as a pinch hitter. That’s not uncommon for guys who are used to starting. Gold Schmidt has hammered lefties this season. The O2 driven in the air to left field indeed. Goldmid has given the Yankees the lead off the bench and out the yard. guys like Ted Williams batting against left-handed pitching. Mention those numbers. Over 400 batting average. and he’s got the long ball stroke back in this series. Wow. Middle belt high. Belted on out of here. It’s an old Ken Singerton line. Those balls at the belt, they get belted. De los Santos. See the numbers on the season. looked really good in his last stint and recalled yesterday in a big spot today. First and second, two out. And that pitch just misses. Ball one. Here’s the 3-2. Down and away. Missed with that change. And the bases are loaded. The one fly ball center field. Gisham right in his tracks makes the catch to end the inning. De Los Santos does the job and the Yankees take the lead into the eighth. So you know Aaron Boo wants to stay away from Williams, Deval and Weaver. Bedard did not pitch yesterday. Aaron Boon going to ask him to get five outs today. Strike three got him looking at a curve. There he goes again. Swing and a miss. Bednar fan Smith and able to work around the one out walk to the ninth inning we go. Big time curve from Bednar. Yanks lead 3-2. Last five out save July of 2023. 2-2. He got him. Wanted to get to the fast ball. And that’s why just like you said David, upper 90s the O2. He got him. The vicious splitter and the fourth straight strike out from Bedar. Two away. Here comes the 32. Ball four. Walk to the 3-1 pitch. Grounded through the right side. A base hit for Simeon. And the Rangers still alive. It’s first and second. And two down. I’m thinking on the mound, can I get him to chase above the zone with the four seamer? Just fouled out the curve. Do I try the splitter? Let’s see if he does. Another two two coming. He got him. Ball game. And it was the splitter. A much needed Yankee victory after a gutsy five out save from David Bgnar. And the Yankees maintain their lead in the wildard race over the Rangers and now have claimed the season series. Well, he had it set up and went to it. The splitter after heaters and curveball. A wellex executed splitter and a signature moment early in this man Yankee career and a mustwin game. You can’t do count your

"MY NAME IS DAVID BEDNAR, IVE GOT A 12 INCH COCK AND IM GOING TO SAVE THIS TEAMS SEASON" – David Bednar on the mound to boonie tonight
I will definitely remain a Yankee, no matter what happens.
That 3-2 called ball on Bednar was awful. That was definitely strike 3
Dang they finally stopped putting Williams in… Boone somehow still has a job despite being a below replacement level skipper.
How many wrong strike out calls for judge we have to put up with?
Yikes. That 9th inning ended up being very scary. Now let's see if the Yankees can win a series at home against a pretty good team. They better be able to if they plan on playing in the post season.
Unc still got it
Who the heck at Yes network needs to be fired for not assigning Al Leiter to the booth for this game?
Way behind time to repeat the dosage everyday 💯
Boone still needs to be replaced, a win today doesn’t change the disaster boone has going on in that club house. With all these waky decisions and his crazy lineups
It's about damn time
Every Yankees player and pitcher gave it their all. And Bonne made some great decisions…
Goldsmith's HR was fantastic, and
Dominguez's scoring was fun and very clever🤔🤣🤣🤣!!!
⚾️ Let's go Yankees 🤪💙🤗🤍🌼!!!
Thank god for the win but it annoys me a bit more he didnt keep Bednar in there…in the 9th of game 1 of the series when he only threw 11 dominating pitches in scoresless 8th…and went with Williams. Smh
Horrible call in the first against Judge
If volpe hasnt been bad defnesivlely and not that good stealing bases…i can deal with 20plus bombs and most likely 80plus ribs….and he is getting his SB pct bsck in check a bit so we shall see at seasons end how i feel
This excellent Yankees defense playing right now should’ve been all of long. It’s about time Boone and Judge put fire 🔥 in this player’s bellie
Finally got a win about time
Wait the yanks won a game? Let’s go
8:18 No consistency. That was a great strike three pitch, but the ump calls Judge out on a similar yet lower pitch in the 3rd.
I really like this dude benard
Go Goldy, Go Yankees WE'LL TAKE IT!
Great defense
Greta move by Boone to let him finish what he started. Gotta respect the manager for decisions like that
Stanton shouldnt be sitting while a still recovering Judge fumbles with AB's.
It’s been so long! Inject this into my veins!
3:54 good awareness
5:35 seems like when the being up mentions it happens
About time! String a few gritty wins together and start flowing!
