We know what swarm stands for, but what’s it actually mean to you? It’s a mindset. You know, it’s showing up every day doing what you don’t want to do. Look at my eyes right now. And then, you know, doing it to the best of your ability. This mentality that we’ve built in this building, it’s a bunch of guys that go to work for each other every day, every play for one another. So, that’s what it means, bro. Swarm is it’s one of those things if you know you know if you’re in this building you know swarm to me means like to suffocate something just comes at you and you just have no breathing room. You can’t really like get out of it. It’s just too much. It overwhelms. That’s what storm means to me. We have to have that bond. It allows us to go out there and play fast, to look to our left, to our right, and know like that guy got my back. 18. Here we go. Let’s roll. Let’s roll. Let’s take it up a notch. Let’s lock in. As fast as you can, as powerful as you can. Putting all that you have into whatever you’re doing on and off the field. You don’t have to be, you know, the biggest. You don’t have to be the fastest or the strongest. But when you show up, are you willing to do what they not willing to do? That’s how I can sum up the word swarm. For me, it has to be an identity. It has to be a part of who we are if we want to go where we want to go. On three. 1 2 3 It’s a lot of days stacked on top of each other. It’s really hot out there and it’s really about who really wants it. Stuff that they’re teaching like when it comes to life like I think that the the way that we can play this year can be so elite. When you get through a season, there’s different moments that kind of challenge everything that you are. I see the pieces. I see the coaches that have a blueprint for success. You know, I just keep saying the next thing is just believe. Knowing Demetica the way we do, they’re going to work their ass off. We know that. Yeah. And and this is a good way when you walk out in this heat, this is a good way to do it. [Applause] and we welcome you to the 24th training camp in the history of the franchise here at the Houston Methodist Training Center. It is on ready. Rock and roll. Here we go. Let’s roll. Let’s roll. Let’s roll. Fighting team. What’s up? I got to tell you, this is as good guy a group as you’re going to get, but they’re dogs. Building the foundation is a it’s a it’s a huge factor into going where we want to go. And I’m just ready to get back. Honestly, I just want to play football again. [Music] Kind of like, you know, high school, freshman or senior year, you know, totally different person. You have a different lens. All that experience. You’re a lot more comfortable. Me is getting back to who I am. All my best years that I’ve had, you know, I’ve always had, you know, years to prepare. I got a full off season this year and I’m going to contribute for this team any way I can. Play like a Texan. It’s got to mean something and it’s coming into shape here. Bring it every play of the game. And if you’re not up to that standard, you’re not going to be here. Demo has a saying, iron sharp is iron. And that’s the best way to go about it right now in training camp. And we’re going to work together. We’re going to get better together. And Demo, don’t let the smile and the nice guy thing fool you. Yeah, we can do that. be turned up with precision. I think it’s all about sharing the knowledge. You know, the room that I’m in, you know, just teaching each guy, you know, if we work together, we play together, we rush together, we’ll we’ll have a chance of affecting the game. Hey, leave no doubt today. Find that place, man, that make you want to chase greatness every rep, bro. Tikico Ryan has a decision to make. He probably has to sit down with Nick Haley and say, “Look, Nick, we want you to get stuff done offensively during practice. But will it help you if Will Anderson Jr. just sits on the sideline for now?” Playing with that kid, I mean, it’s amazing. Like what I’ve seen from him last year? Could just imagine like what he’s going to build off of and bring this year to the team. So, I’m excited about that. Kind of just chatted with Will just a little bit. I said, “Man, I have to take you out of practice for this offense to do anything.” Man, you would have thought I called him the worst names in the book at that point. He was like, “I’m not coming out. Iron sharpens iron.” That’s the way that’s the way JJ thought. The goal is really just to to play commentary football season. Yeah. Hey, Tommy. All day. I’ve been on great teams and this probably one of the best teams I been on and this is my eighth year. We got everything we need here. Like it’s all about durability, you know? Everybody got to stay healthy and one one game at a time. It’s fun. You know, we got a whole lot of personalities, a whole lot of people who want to get better, who are who are hungry to to succeed. Hey, I’m I’m I’m reporting. It’s hotter than a new song out here. You know, you know when there’s a flag right in front of y’all, y’all just be is something that you want in a D line room. You want in any room really. So, it’s definitely a blessing to be in there. We know how to play off each other now. Last year, we’re just kind of figuring each other out and and this year we kind of know what to expect. The biggest thing that we can just play fast, play comfortable now. And just the bond that we have in that room, it’s it’s so unbreakable that I feel like that’ll that’ll bring us a long way. Our mentality as a Dline is a dark room. We we’re intense, but having that mentality in a meeting room is where it starts. You know, how we approach every day, how we approach every practice starts in the meeting room. We’re the engine of the team. That’s what we say in the media room. So, as long as we keep that mentality, it starts there. He’s the only one who can get into the upper echelon of AFC quarterbacks from an unbelievable year. I think he is a guy that is on a trajectory that to your point will put him in the elite amount of quarterback. Yeah, we on you today. You know, I don’t talk like that. Oh, you my none of my you know I love you. Love you too, twin. Have a good day, baby. You too, brother. How much have you seen uh CJ from when he first got here to who he is now? CJ the same guy he was from day one, you know. Um calm, collected leader, the leader he is. Um that’s what you expect from your quarterback, you know, but feel like this year, man, he’s he’s on a mission every day. You get better u just like everybody else. Yeah, I feel like I’ve grown a lot, you know, just spiritually, physically, mentally. So, I’m just, you know, grateful to have, you know, a coach like Daikica who promotes that, and then, you know, family and friends to support it and teammates as well. So, feel like I’ve grown a lot. You know, CJ is like a natural leader, someone that’s going to talk to you a lot. Um, someone that’s going to tell you when you’re doing things good, someone that’s going to help you when you’re doing things bad. So, really just more so learning the person that he is. And, uh, you know, his character a little funk on it. Rough. I’mma put it on. Just depend on where the guy is. If he’s like undercutting, it’ll be like a I’ll give you more air if I do that. It’s just getting on the same page and, you know, seeing it through the same lens that CJ sees it. And the quicker we can, you know, both see the same thing at the same time and even the other receivers, the better we’re going to be. You know, if we miss something, communicating what either of us could have done differently and then, you know, either get it off to the side. I think it’s just evolving communication. If it’s like oh like buzz out and it’s just kind of let’s have that conversation. I think I like that. We just got to be on the same we can snap it down treat it like we got to be on the same page. That way you still have a throw. And that’s one thing that me and him really talked about is you know hey did you like that? What would you prefer? Did you see this? Did you see that? Um cuz like I just mentioned it’s just getting on the same page and seeing it through the same lens. I think it’s opportunity to grow there. I think every year you know as a leader leadership role I can learn a little more. I think that’s get that gives me another edge. You know, if you change a player or do something good, guys are okay, we can trust those guys. So, um that that definitely helps leadership. Positive plays, man. Here we go. Positive plays, man. The first thing that I noticed when I I came in is they were trying to set the foundation for the culture very early and then you draft a bunch of guys that fit that foundation perfectly. We won’t be perfect, but you can continue to strive for perfection, and we’ll see some progress there. It’s only year three of the Demo Ryan’s era. And I say that because I want this thing to go on a very long time and be one of those teams that’s always in the postseason. And when you do get in, you are going to make runs. The biggest thing is just we’re brothers in this. And we’re all trying to attain the same goal. It’s not you and me. It’s it’s us. You got guys that really actually care about each other. No matter how that looks for them, they just want to win games. You’re going to make deep runs. You’re going to win a championship here. That’s the vision. That’s what we want to see. I believe we will see it with these guys if they can stick together. All work is demanded every day and you got to come in here and you got to work. Everyone seems to know that it’s only one way to to win games and to to go further and that’s in the work and the preparation do every day. [Music] Whatever it is, I’m going to try to do more.
