Well, the Rangers have a chance at a sweep and with a win today , the Rangers would take sole possession of third place in the A L wild card race. The Rangers have a chance to sweep this Yankees team out of town and they’re given the ball to Jack Lighter. His mom calls him Apple, Jack and he’s facing the big Apple team tonight, the New York Yankees and this was his childhood team. So he gets to go up against him. He’s pitching, well, his last six starts, he’s three and one has a 316, er, a, it hard and through into right field, a base hit to start the day for Trent Grisham. Remember last night the Yankees had just two hits in the game and they haven’t scored a run in 15 innings. 32 pitch and a swing and a miss got him with a changeup first strikeout today for lighter. And that’s the first out and it brings up aaron Judge, here’s a 30 and that is off. The handle popped up near first and Durant takes care of it two away. Boy. Is that a big out? Especially on a 3 to 0 count. The 10 that is in the air right field playable for either Simeon or garcia. It is Marcus going out from second base so lighter pitches around a leadoff single and the big lefty on the mound, carlos Rodon is going to be his 24 start on the year. All the numbers are really good , modest wind up kicks and Dale swing and a miss struck him out good start as he rallied back to Kay had a three to two pitch and there’s one down and no score for that is hit up along the first base line, that’s going to be a base hit and now he’s got a chance. But if he doesn’t have to attempt fate with those hamstrings of his won’t, it’s early in the ball game, he decided it was safe play to stay at first. Next pitch swing on hit to right field to pop up. Great walk by Langford to open the second inning, an eight pitch plate appearance hit hard Chisholm gloves, tosses Volpi to first big time. A double play turned by Chisholm and Volpe two down. Nice back. Flip something on it from Jazz. The 20, that’s poked off the end of the bat into right field. Well, there’s hit number one off of Rodon. He just shoots it the other way. A single into right field here with two men out to the right side. Chisholm charges and ends the inning two on two out in this nothing nothing ball game. And here is the aforementioned Mr Judge and Judge upon his return from the il yesterday went zero for three against Eovaldi striking out twice. He’s 22 to judge and that is on the corner strike three called. Judge goes down looking lighter strands a pair. He has three strikeouts through three innings lighter takes care of judge for the final out. No runs a hit two are left pretty evenly matched so far bottom of the third inning, no runs, two hits, no errors. The line, both clubs, Ezekiel Durant will lead it off that ball is rocketed out into left field. Dominguez going back, it’s over his head and off the middle of the wall. It kicks by dominguez back to the diamond Durant is easily at second and he’ll stay right there. Zeke now five for his last nine with that shot to get it started here in the home third. So a runner in scoring position right away brings up Sam Haggerty. Here’s the pitch and Haggerty bounces it right side through the wide open infield and here comes Durant, he’ll score. Sam Haggerty with two strikes just tapping it the other way to get a run home. RB. I knocked for Sam Haggerty Rangers are up one to the Yankees set up here with two on one out a walk. Now three of the last five men that he’s faced. The hitter is going to be Anthony Volpe. So this is a great opportunity to one up his best friend in high school teammate lines that the left field of base hit gets one off his old buddy as Bellinger will score and this game is tied at one as Domingo shuts it down at second RB. I single. Anthony Volpe ties the game at 11 here in the fourth runners go here. Throw down to third. Not in time. Scoots away. Dominguez headed home. He will score and the Yankees take a 21 lead. Great, great job. Push the envelope and it pays off and looks like that’s going to do it for Jack Lighter. Here comes Bo so 1st and 3rd now one out and austin Wells due up a little tapper back to the mound. Milner has it and he has Volpe in a run down. Now, Gaoa taking him back to third and will tag him out. So Volpe is tagged out but the rundown took so long that the Yankees still wind up with runners at 1st and 3rd 2 outs now and Trent Christian coming to the plate one strike pitch bouncer back to the mound again. Boy Milner, there’s a over out there two runs home on only one hit, three walks in the inning and two men left one pitch. Langford is retired here and Josh Young is coming up next pitch swing and a miss down goes josh Young that the third strikeout 123 against the 567 hitters in this Texas lineup. Yankees have a 21 lead. Texas has won eight straight at home and 12 out of 13. So one out and here is Durant, 12 pitch and a little tapper third base side, Rodon’s throw to first not in time. Durant beats out his second hit of the game and Rodon probably should have let that ball roll and see if it would go foul big time at bat by Haggerty again. So Corey Seeger will bat with runners at 1st and 2nd and 1 out and the Rangers trailing 2 to 1 and he hits this in the air back of second base short, center field, tough play drops in and everybody’s safe. That’s about the b loopiest of singles you’ll ever see Seeger get and the bases are loaded for Marcus Simeon with the Rangers trailing 2 to 1 and one out here in the fifth and he swings and hits this ball well, deep out to center that will at least tie the game. It does catch made by Grisham Durant able to tag and score and we’re tied at two Marcus Simeon with his 56 RB. I the sacrifice fly knocks up the ball game. All right. Top half of the seventh inning, we’ve got a tie ball game and the lefty Robert garcia coming on here for the Rangers. Now, garcia his last two times out in Seattle did not get the job done. Here’s Paul Goldschmidt goalie 279 the 02 driven in the air to left field and deep Goldschmidt has given the Yankees the lead off the bench and out the yard. Get it up. Baby gone first row home run. Paul Goldsmith 32 Yankees. Oh man. Talk about timely and that’s some great two strike hitting goalie home run. Number 10 bases loaded, two out , 3 to 2 Yankees lead bottom of the seventh. Here’s Garcia Durant at third with a single haggerty catcher interference at second and simon at first after the walk fly ball center field, Grisham right in his tracks makes the catch to end. The inning three are left. We go to the 832 New York. Today, Aaron Boone will ask for five outs from David Bednar. He’s going to face John Peterson who’s been a thorn in the Yankee side in this series. And that’s high ball four. The tying run is on in the eighth, that the formula in the eighth inning you’re looking for in a one run game strike three, got him looking at a curve breaking ball, frozen strike three called two down swing and a Miss Bednar fan, smith Bednar pitches out of trouble. We go to the ninth, his last five out save July of 2023. He got him Bednar swing and a miss top of the zone. He got him one down the 02. He got the vicious splitter and the fourth straight strikeout from Bednar two away and that is outside ball four. The tying run is on in the ninth. Ben Rice thought it was strike three but Seeger is on to keep the game alive. The 3 to 1 pitch and that one is to the right side. That’s a base hit. Seger to second base. The winning run is on and is that going to do it for Bednar? Boone wants confirmation. How are you nose to nose joe Torre style? Are you ok? I need to know most pitches he’s thrown since August 11th of last season. When he threw 37 game on the line here, Yankees trying to end a five game losing streak. Here’s Adolis Garcia, he got him a much needed Yankee victory after a gutsy five out save from David Bednar. And the Yankees maintain their lead in the wild card race over the Rangers and now have claimed the season series.
