Ive been living in Korea for over a year, recently attended my first baseball game here, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.
Throughout the game, while the home team was on offense, fans never sat down. They constantly cheered and dang a variety of their chants and were ALWAYS loud. From kids, adults to grandpas, they were on their feet (this was just a regular season game too).
Even the opposing team had their fans in attendance, all in their own section also cheering.
I’ve personally attended countless MLB games, mainly in Arlington for my Texas Rangers. While watching this game I felt a bit embarrassed that we rarely cheer like this in the U.S. most people are in their phones or not even paying attention. Could this kind of atmosphere ever happen at a MLB game?

No.
They have the best cheerleaders
I went to a Busan Giants game last August and the energy was EXACTLY this. highlight of my trip.
This looks like a ton of fun. Much better than the constant stimming of sound effects and music snippets played between every pitch at MLB ballparks.
Wrigley is like that sometimes
MLB fans will show this kind of energy when we can go to the hospital without having crippling debt.
This can only happen at a Savanna Banana’s game. MLB it will never happen to this extent. I’m going to say most Americans view this as exhausting. We want to go watch a game, relax, eat, drink, and talk. Besides, there are 162 of these games to play, I can’t see any fanbase doing this every game.
Yes but unfortunately it only happens in the postseason.
No because everyone’s afraid of being “cringe”
We’re too fat. We can’t stand for that long

We need cheerleaders.
Nah im good. Im trying to chill and watch baseball when I go to a game not turn it into some gimmicky amusement park attraction
Playoff time it happens in Philadelphia
This country is beyond dead so definitely not.
That’s why I love soccer too sooo much, army for life.

It looks like fun. But there are certain environments and viewing experiences built into every sport. I very much enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of baseball. Being able to have some food, a beer, and watch the game while talking to my wife is relaxing to me.
I also enjoy going to a football game where you don’t sit down, can’t hear anything, and spend the whole time chanting and cheering.
We don’t need to constantly compare and contrast or force viewing experiences into environments they don’t fit.
Too much work. I’d rather enjoy the game.
100 percent no. They wouldn’t be able to shut up while the opposing team bats. Japanese baseball is a great experience and a million percent better than the major league experience. If we could get the Japanese experience with the American quality of players, that would be amazing.
i just went to a fukuoka game…holy crap!! the atmosphere was crazy. chant lyrics were on the jumbotron so everyone (who could read japanese) knew the words. same energy as korea, it sounds like. fans on their feet for all offense halves. chants constantly. even people in the concession lines when i was walking around were doing the chants (and the hand motions, lol).
great atmosphere in asia.
I have zero interest in the goofy chants. The answer is no
People don’t want to hear it, but Oakland could be like that quite often. Obligatory SELL.
Bring back Dollar Dog Night and we’ll talk.
Only if it involves mocking indigenous people.
Inb4 “bUt a CoUplE oF tHeM tHaT thE tEam GaVe moNeY tO sAid iT wUz oKaY!” Yeah buddy, they’re not a monolith.
Korea games by far da best
Go to a playoff game
The US in general does not really have a sports support culture, no matter the sport. Korea is more comparable to European sports events with all the chants although it is more choreographed.
Anyone, who ever went to an US sports event, knows that the show is the main part, but that the fans are not into supporting a team by singing (In american football it is quite similar to MLB for example). Just a different culture towards sports events.
Outside of postseason games, I have ever seen Americans have that kind of energy for college football games
I’ve never been sober enough at a game to keep the cadence
SEC baseball is where you’ll find it in the US
Honestly the closest I’ve been to this kind of energy is NCAA football. The student section at Alabama has this level of excitement, its just that everyone is drunk.
Fenway park in September has real energy not this song and dance stuff
My dumbass fan base can’t even wear the right sport jersey to the sport they are attending.
I’ve seen sox games where I swear less than 100 people were in attendance. So no absolutely not
That is one of the things I love about the WBC. Lots of passionate energy. Those Puerto Ricans, and Dominicans can play the shit out of those drums and horns!
I don’t think so anymore. Sadly Baseball has become the casual sport. I watch it nowadays to hold me over till football season. You want to see Crowds like this go to NFL games that’s where the real passion is on display.
I dunno. My last game in Toronto (vs the Yanks) was loud and I kept my ANC Airpods in all game. Mind you, Toronto is different than most US cities. You put in a winning team and the atmosphere is insane.
I love watching NPB games for that reason. The chanting, the trumpets, the coordinated sections. The away team fans sit together and do their chants, the home team cheer sections, and then the boring people behind the plate 😂
Can’t even get that many people to show up to a single game haha
We have to much money on the games. We can only enjoy them if our team(s) cover the spread.
Banana Ball
Can the MLB create this type of energy? This reminds me of seeing the Savannah Bananas.
You should visit Fenway when it’s really rocking
The stadium is very small, tight and the stands are built vertically. You can feel the place vibrate at the right moments.
Sweet Caroline is basically the equivalent, it’s a tradition
Happens every night at Petco Park
Go to a padres game. It’s not as organized but it’s every bit as electric if not more
