Padres vs. D-backs Game Highlights (8/6/25) | MLB Highlights

Here tonight game three and it is a rubber game as the Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks get together one final time this season at Chase field in Phoenix as the Padres continue to climb in the wild card standings. Both the Mets and the Reds lost earlier this afternoon as did the Dodgers, by the way, the veteran right hander fans into his 10th season, the erstwhile red giant. Now he’s been a late edition signing later in the season. Luis Rise will lead things off of the Padres swung on and a routine ground ball to second. Has it throws in plenty of time. Nice easy start for gets the ground out. Here is the red hot Ramon Lao. The new Padres acquired at the deadline skies the 22 to very short left PDO drifting out there from shortstop two up and two down and that is going to bring up Jackson Merrill 22, strike three called on the corner and a great start for he strikes out one in a flawless first Esther Cortez on the mound tonight making his debut in the Brown and Gold. He made two starts for Milwaukee before injury struck at a flexor strain in his left elbow. So he is on the mound in a big league game tonight for the first time since April 3rd and the other way for Marte and o’hearn, I mean, talk about defensive positioning. He barely moved an inch and one away in the bottom of the first inning out there in right field tonight. Here’s Corbin Carroll left on left for Corbin last night was zero for five from the leadoff spot. He struck out three times. Corbin skies it to right center. That one is on his way and gone. It’s on the home run porch for his 23rd of the year. 443 ft and the Jackrabbits are great, but every once in a while , slug helps too. Doesn’t hurt anything. Two pitch and Corbin took it out of here, way out there near the home run in right center. There’s a swing and a liner past the Lacy in left center off the bat of P. Here come the D backs in the bottom of the first inning. A ground ball to the right side a little bit, stumble, gets it to Iglesias and they turn to beautifully done as Cortez gets himself out of trouble. Here’s Tyler Locklear five games with the Diamondbacks since his trade from Seattle in the Geno Suarez deal. Locklear rolls it to short backhanded by Iglesias. Terrific play, but Locklear runs pretty well for a big guy and he’s safe at first, Iglesias could do that. It’s a base hit for Tyler locklear two consecutive hit by pitches one to Alexander, one to mccann. And the situation gets even more treacherous for Nestor. Alec Thomas will be the batter at third. Alexander’s at second mccann at first. Now it carves it deep to left Liano. Back it up. Locklear’s at third. Come on down. You’re the next contestant on the price is right. It’s an RB I sack fly the D double the lead and down two. Nothing over his 10 year career has been through a litany of injuries. He missed all of 2017 with a UCL sprain. He was out all of last year after flexor tendon surgery on his right elbow cost him the second half of 2023 and he throws the beauty of a change up right there and gets his third strikeout really feeling those off speed pitches. He’s thrown some nice sweepers. That changeup has a lot of dive bomb to it. Here’s jose Iglesias and sends this out to center for Jorge Barosa and he has set down all eighties face to start the game. Number nine hitter Freddie Fermin hard hit on the line in the left center field. Padres have their first base runner of the night and up underneath that 4, 13 marker a double four for me to break up the no hitter, Freddie first pitch fastball. He was kind of watching what Desco has been trying to do all night, which is get ahead with fastball. Freddie says, no, I’m not going to give you the chance. I’m hopping on this fastball and driving it into the gap. The leadoff hitter for one rise in the series so far, he’s one for tricky play, Marte Charges and he makes the play could tell Marte some sensational defense right there and gets the second hit for the Padres this evening. A leadoff single here in the fourth one. Hopper missile off the glove of locklear. They came off to his right and he had no idea where the ball went and just sat there on the infield at first four, Machado one out here in the fourth inning, Padres down 2 to 0. Wang and a miss. So he threw some nice change ups in that at bat. He has Machado frustrated four strikeouts for Dele. Well, that was a beautiful pitch to Machado in the air to center for bars outstanding tonight. Four scoreless and he leads it two. He anticipated somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 pitches for Desni who worked most of this year in relief and we’ll see how long they let him go here in the fifth inning. Jalen be has started to warm up. The left hander can be super efficient here. He can perhaps get through five and put himself in line for the win. He has certainly earned it. He has been terrific so far short, right center with the speed to track it down. That thing hung up just long enough for Jorge to get there. And that’s the first out in the fifth that looked like it might get to the pool position in the right spot. Able to get to that one is the hitter and dumps the 32 into right field, one out single, just the third hit for the Padres and let’s see if to, is going to make the move. And here he comes, he did a heck of a job here tonight. Sure did, had his stuff working well runs for him early and he just Cruz and Jalen be is on the way in Anthony terrific. He will leave with a 20 lead. Here’s a leadoff walk. That’s the way it started last night, two on and one on now for the number nine man, he doubled deep to left center his first time up in the two pitch, fly ball play his time to right. Corbin Carroll drifting over to his left. He’s underneath. He makes the catch tagging up as Jake Cronenworth, he’s going to advance to third base and two outs. Now down here in the inning that will bring up the leadoff man. Rise. Here goes Iglesias mccann throws through, here comes Carden. The Diamondbacks cut down the run at the plate to end the fifth, well executed by the infield. Fires a strike mccann is there with a tag and it’s still 2 to 0. Diamondbacks and Alexander Bogart. Now nobody out. We’re in the seventh. Bogart hammers into the air deep down the line trying to keep it fair. Yes, sir. A home run Xander goes deep for a second consecutive night and the Padres are on the board here in the seventh inning. 421 for Bogart and Merrill will stand in zero for three on the night in a big, big spot tying run at second base with one out here in the eighth squirts it down the line and over the back quite get there in time. What a nice play by Alexander. They’re going to check this one out play by Alexander. Two outs in the batter will be Manny Machado got him. Kyle back. Is he strikes out Machado with two on and two out and it stays 2 to 1.O leads it off here in the ninth inning. Padres need one to tie out to right field. Corbin Carroll going back. He’s at the wall this one. Bryant Ods. First home run is a Padre ties it in the ninth. His first signature moment in the brown and go 22 game here in the ninth inning. Brings up Xander Bogaerts. Xander smacks that one to left center field long run gurriel not going to get there and he goes up against the wall. Xander into second base with a double and the Padres want more here in the ninth and all of a sudden the Padres have opened up the ninth with their sluggers. Go ahead run. Bogart moves up to third. He’s 90 ft away from scoring Bogart at third and the infield drawn in against Jose Iglesias and he lines it into right field. Xander will trot in from third and for the first time tonight, the Padres lead it 3 to 2. Jose Iglesias gets it done again and a two run ninth inning for the Padres and now with the Padres up by one in the ninth inning tonight, Mason Miller being given an opportunity to collect his first save as a Padre, the first guy, he’s going to face Lourdes Gurriel Jr got him this time. It goes to Miller a pitch and get a pinch hitter. Looks like a Del Castillo looking for some left hand pop to try to keep this alive. Del Castillo will bat for mccann. Alexander is the tying run at first and a swing and a miss 13 to put it away. Mason Miller with his first save as a Padre 3 to 2. The final here in Arizona, the Padres move two games out of first place in the National league West.
