That’s why I deleted MLB The Show. Every goddamn AB in franchise mode as a pitcher.
This happens to me in the Show 24 and I’m frustrated; can’t imagine it for real. “Dude just miss the damn ball already”
Can pitches be non-consecutive?
The record for the most pitches seen in a single at-bat in Major League Baseball history is 21 pitches. This record was set by Brandon Belt of the San Francisco Giants on April 22, 2018, against Jaime Barria of the Los Angeles Angels
Why is the word consecutive in the title?
So… this is a skill that is completely outside of modern stats right? I feel like average pitches to strike out or pitches per at bat can actually be really useful. Like, he just used 1/5 of a starting pitcher’s throw count in one at bat. That’s gotta count for more than a K to the batter right?
What a strangely worded title
Player has 17-pitch at-bat*
I was temporarily thinking the umpire threw away 17 straight pitched balls.
Change of subject. Isn’t it strange that a batter can hit a single or a ground out and the same ball is used for the next pitch, but if the pitcher slightly bounces a pitch, the ball gets thrown out. I know they go through a hella lot of balls during a game, but I also wonder how many the umpire recycles without anyone noticing.
All that effort to wind up with a backward K.
Did it say how long the AB was time-wise?
Hey! An actual MLB player being a hitter for once. Love to see this any day versus all the “swing up twice & go down looking” and the boo hoo’ing about the call that ensues. Can’t wait till the pendulum swings back to actual baseball.
