Boomer Esiason obliterates Juan Soto after Mets loss
for this team. And it’s embarrassing. Now, I don’t care what anybody says, getting one hit. And quite frankly, you know, there was a chance yesterday that when Juan Stole hit that ball that he might have been thrown out at uh at first base if it doesn’t go out of the out of the building, you know, because he’s loafing out of the out of out of the box. Now, I don’t expect him to sprint to first base in a situation like this, but he watched the whole thing and gets out by literally a foot. I by a foot and it’s back in. And you know what? This to me is like a rear. And he’s got a nice smile on his face, you know, like he’s laughing. You know, I’m sick of it. I I I I want to see attitude. I want to see, you know, you know, when the Mets had Gary Carter, they had uh Ray Knight, they had, you know, they they had guys that would fight. You know, they would go on losing streaks, too, like every baseball team does, but I don’t ever I and and maybe I’m forgetting things, but there were times where these guys would be fighting each other. They they were fighting in the face on third base. Right. Exactly. Cincinnati. And you know, this team looks this team looks overpaid and underwhelmed. They look bored and and that’s a bad place to be. And I’m glad you brought up So, I was going to get to him, but since you mentioned the home run and watching the replay on a closer view, maybe it was more than a foot. was a three or four feet up. But your point is well taken, Stephen or Andrew, whoever is back at CBS Sports Network, can you, if possible, can you get me the RBI triple by Aras uh in the sixth inning? Because just to set this up, so David Peterson, who was okay, gave up a couple of, you know, the home runs, made it three nothing. Then he goes out there in the sixth inning and the two out, you can’t walk a guy with two outs. He We all know that guy, he walks Carlos Santana, but I don’t know. Watch this. Watch Sodto in right field. number one laaging to the ball here. Fumbles it. Watch this throw. What is that? He He gives the guy the extra base, making it a triple instead of a like he he’s I was say Aras Aras was the MVP of the uh the series. But to your point about Sodto, like he’s not even the lob throw in. There’s no I don’t want to say there’s no effort. There’s not much effort on that play. I I I want to say this and I’m going to say it again. There’s not a player worth 765 million. No, there’s not there’s no I mean, you know, maybe show Otani because he does so many different things and he and he basically steals bases, you know, and I know Juan has stole some bases this year, but you know, is he a is he a leading like like your highest paid player, whether it be Aaron Judge or Show Otani or in this case Juan Sto has to lead the team. Yep. I agree. They have to set the example. And when the example that is being set is one that just doesn’t look at least to the naked eye and as a former athlete looks to me like if that’s the guy that’s getting paid $760 million and he’s supposed to be our leader. I’m not following that guy. Not to mention he’s been the word that I’ve heard a lot and it’s so right. His numbers ultimately will look fine but it’s a whole lot of nothing. Well, his la his last, you know, uh I don’t know, I want to say three weeks have been abysmal. Since the All-Star break, he’s been abysmal. But do you realize he’s got 26 home runs? If I asked you right now, how many of them are more than a solo shot? How many do you think? Um cuz I don’t know if that six. He’s got 20 solo home runs. Now, you want to tell me a solo home run, it’s 2-2 in the ninth inning. Great. That impacts the game. That’s a huge That’s a clutch hit. But such a home run in the ninth inning to break up a no hitter when you lose in four nothing is useless.
Juan Soto was the sole reason the Mets didn’t get no-hit in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to the Guardians, but Boomer Esiason has no sympathy for the superstar outfielder amid this ugly slide.
“He’s got a nice smile on his face and he’s laughing. I’m sick of it,” Esiason said on WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” show Thursday morning.
“I want to see the attitude … If that’s the guy making $765 million and he’s supposed to be a leader, I’m not following that guy.”
Soto caught the ire of some Mets fans — and Esiason — after smiling as he rounded the bases after breaking up Gavin Williams’ no-hit bid with a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Agree
His name is Boomer
He’s the laziest player I’ve ever seen. Half asses every single game, but who cares, he’s getting PAID
why are people getting on him when he was the only one that didn't give up and tried to do something. Like the mets could of came back after his HR and tied the game but they didn't so don't blame the only player that got a hit.
Juan Soto is a bum and has not one ounce of leadership in him
I lost all respect for Soto when he made a comment about losing out on a 100k bonus by not being selected as an all star. I mean c'mon man
It’s sad, how they only blame one guy. It’s a team effort.
Boomer is an idiot and so are any of you clowns that agree with him.
Soto has not performed up to SOTO standards but he’s outperforming Lindor and Alonso the last TWO MONTHS!!!
Since June 1 Soto is hitting .268 while Lindor is hitting under .220 and making dumbass errors and terrible plays and Alonso is hitting like .226.
Boomer gets an erection for Alonso and Lindor so he won’t blame them at all when THEY have been truly bad.
Soto has been bad by HIS own standards. Lindor and Alonso were literally the two worst hitters in the national league in July and two of the worst hitters since June 1.
FIRE the hitting coaches NOW! This team is abysmal on the road, terrible with RISP, and has no heart.
It’s amazing that a guy that can barely speak has been on the radio all these years
Deport Juan Soto!
Who the F cares about what a washed up old rusty QB of the NFL thinks: he stinks.
FYI: this QB never won a SB.
He gets a "hardon" whenever the wind blows so:
Boom time to go ride off on your broom; before it starts stormin: Norman 😂
You all fail to think about who really is to blame and that's a shame.
Just because Soto got over 700k to play he is automatically to blame: who died and left him as the Mgr. of this team?
I can't believe how shallow these so called fans are that believe all the BS these "Media Clowns" put out when their lamestream circus comes to town.
420 and it was a foot jajajajajaja this reporters that do not know shit about how to hit a ball and make a leaving of these guys playing a game they wish they could play.
I agree with Boomer %1000
Don't feel bad, Cleveland has been beating everyone lately and has very solid pitching!
Soto used to be competitor from what I remember. The money really does seem to have corrupted his work ethic. What the heck!?!
Boomer you’re right on! It looks like the team has followed suit. Where is the manager? Gil Hodges would have walked out to right field and escorted him off! I also believe Bobby Valentine would do the same. Shame on the manager!
He has a completely different attitude this year- HE GOT THE MONEY 💰 Case closed
"Mets had gary carter, ray knight, keith hernandez" yeah you mean the guys who sniffed coke and got into fights with each other?
Boomer was being too nice in
this video talking about Soto.
YOU ASKED FOR IT YOU GOT IT SOTOOOOOOOO. IM NOT A SALTY YANKEE FAN IM A HAPPY ONE BECAUSE I WATCHED HIM ALL LAST YEAR AND KNEW HE WAS CAPABLE OF THIS. BUT BECISE OF GUYS LIKE JUDGE AMD STANTON THEY WOULDNT ALLOW IT
.250/26/ 65 that’s what $765 gets you these days. Like I said he was not going to have another season like last because of the big man who was behind him hitting. We as Yankee fans did not dodge a bullet we dodged a missle.
Esiason is a loud mouth Dbag, but I do agree with him on this.
The Mets got giped
Sotto gets paid all that money to walk twice a game and hit a Juan Solo homerun once in a while. Juan Solo.. 15 of 25 of his homeruns are Solo's.😂😂
I’m not a big fan of Soto, he’s a clown, but if you look at his entire career, he’s probably going to end up with an average year, by his standards. Last year was his best year, by a lot. The Mets overpaid for him, which I don’t care, it’s Cohen’s money. He has not been an impact player, you can count on two fingers how many games he’s single-handedly won for the Mets this year.
I know Willie Mays is arguably the best player, but Soto is no Charlie Hustle – who is the only caliper type player worth that money. He died just before Soto get his contract – can you imagine Pete's take on Soto & and antics. I'm sure Hernandez knows, but he's a company man and he isn't talking.
Why hustle..he can't run fast carrying that huge ego.
Over 700 million dollars , he’s not nowhere near hungry anymore . Why is everyone surprised . I been saw this coming . He’s the perfect example of living high on the hog now . The Mets owner did a stupid dumb thing giving him this money . Absolutely no athlete is worth that much . Now the Mets are stuck with him and now are seeing the mentality of the real Juan Soto .
I'm a NYY fan. Soto is a good player, but not a top dog. Second man thru the door. Mets cross to bear. As far as $$$, if Cohen paid it, than Soto is worth it
Why wouldn’t he be smiling and laughing? He fleeced the Mets to the tune of 765 million dollars 😂
Ohtani is a PR Dream….Soto a PR Nightmare.
Yep. Soto is a Mets problem. 😂😂
I think anybody would have a smirk on their face if they broke up in no hitter in the ninth with a home run…
The Media hyped Soto up so much, calling him a generational talent a once in a lifetime talent. I'm sorry I kept looking at his stats and all I saw was a really good player. No where near Trout, Judge or Shohei numbers. At the end the Mets fell for the Hype
Funny how these wizards of business are so easily fleeced when they own a team. The only thing Soto cares about is money and his OBP. He'd rather walk with men on then try to get an RBI. Not to mention his lack of hustle and lousy fielding. But wait he's "a generational talent" LMAO! Boomer is a Met fan and has a right to give an opinion.
The last I checked, a few days ago, Soto was hitting .190 with RISP. Think about that. Soto hits a lot of hone runs, and he walks a lot. Otherwise he is not exceptional. He is a rally killer with a very bad attitude. Just what is he doing to earn all that money??!! I am loving how Cody Bellinger, who essentially took Soto's place with the Yankees, has better numbers this year–for about 1/3 the money.
I'm Juan Solo, I'm hitin' solo homeruns
I'm hitin' solo, I'm hitin' solo homeruns, solo homeruns
I'm feelin' like a star, you can't stop my shine
Once again…..if Juan simply took generational life changing money from the Yankees (which it was), he’d have half the pressures and a better team/franchise to be a part of and Aaron Judge. I don’t see it sorry. More money, private suites and all that other stuff is garbage and excuses. You’re making $750 million chieffffffffffff. Have some optics. Go buy your family one. How is this not common sense? Where’s his argent to tell him and give him advice on this shit? Athletes, the majority of the stars, are greedy and make bad decisions based on money. Don’t put undue pressure on yourself that doesn’t need to be there. Look at those players who take the early money when they’re younger. They have way less pressure and turn out to be fantastic stars.
