There is Tommo Sagano. He’s taking the ball every time here. 22nd start for the Orioles, tying Dean Kramer for the team lead. 35-year-old rookie Sagano to the 28-year-old Cortez and the game’s first pitch. A fast ball popped up. There’s Kobe Mayo right on Q and Mayo finds his way to the baseball in the Baltimore sky. There’s the slugger on the right side. Brent Rooker dhing tonight. First pitch jolted high in the air down the left field line. Angling back goes Henderson from short. Coming in Carlson calling off the infielder into foul territory and Brent Rooker is retired. Can’t get much more efficient for Tomyuki Sagano than what we’ve already seen. So Sagano facing the best rookie hitter in baseball. He was the fourth pick one year ago, Nick Curts out of Wake Forest and he has been incredible at the plate. 23 homers and Curts takes a perfect strike three. Sagano runs the two seamer inside across the corner at a seven pitch first inning since the A’s down in order. And on the bunk for the green and gold tonight is JT Gin. Eighth start for the right-hander this season. He has earned the opportunity to become part of this starting rotation. 2-2 and that’s strike three. Holiday will walk back to the dugout. Nice start here for JT Gin. 272 overall. 13 homers driven in 28 runs. And another strike out here for JT Gin. I mean, that was pinpoint. Anderson reaches across the plate, drags the big end of the bat from one corner to the near side. And a two seamer is called a little high. Henderson will discard the equipment on his 42nd walk. Tied for the most of any Orio. as Adley Rutman strides to the plate against a franchise he has owned over the course of his career. Rutman a,44 OPS that’s on base p slugging against the A’s and Adley torpedoes it high and deep to right field and Ally Rutman continues to dominate this franchise. He had seven doubles since returning from the Allstar break but he didn’t have one of those until right now. His ninth home run of the season puts the O’s on top first. Well, we told you how great the sinker is, but that wasn’t a sinker. Well, that was a missile, but it was a slider that hangs and it has, as we mentioned, too much of the plate and the Orioles lead at two to nothing. And now a little cushion for Ryan Mount Castle in his return to action. And Mount Castle slices one to deep center field. Welcome back, Mounty. his first at bat in over two months. Completes backto back home runs. Well, that’s the Ryan Mount Castle we know. Red All American League rookies with 33 home runs his first year. Straightaway power, right center field power and another home run. There’s the 2-2 and JT Gin does finish the inning with a strikeout of Ryan Nota. So, three strikeouts unfortunately, two home runs to make up three runs for the Orioles to start. Top of the third inning here at the ballpark. It’s three nothing Orioles. It’ll be Ursella Luis Aras, Ramon’s brother, and Carlos Cortez. Gioella is going to seek one through on the left side into left field. And Giozan with the first hit for the Athletics here tonight. Here’s the right-handed hitter, Luis Uras, with the right side open. And this one’s hit hard up the middle. A grounder will get into center field in first and second. Well, it felt like the first two innings bit of a factf finding mission against Sugano. And now a couple good abs. And he hits a ground ball to second base. That is a tailor made double play. Thank you very much for six and three. Here’s the very dangerous Brent Rooker now with Hella at third. Here’s the 2-2. They get him. It did. Brent Rooker will head down to first after the hit by pitch. Abram Nick Curts get a second runner back on base and Curts up to bat. He struck him out with a sweeper. Sagano has punched out Curts looking twice. Part of pitching throw the unexpected. No runs, two hits for the A’s. Butler flyed out to the right fielder Ryan Nota in the second inning. He’s 0 for one. And Lawrence in to left. It’s going to drop down. And Lawrence Butler is going to head to second. Lawrence sliding in head first. No need. It’s a leadoff double. Third hit for the A’s in the game. Gio Rashella has one of those three. And Gio to the shorts stop. Henderson to first, but that’ll move Lawrence Butler up to third with Rudius coming up. Here’s the pitch in the air to center. Greg Allen will move for it. It’ll be long enough for Lawrence to go and heading on home for the A’s first run. A sacrifice fly for Morius. And Cortez slugs the ball to center. He’s not going to make a one pitch out. He’ll make a two pitch out as Greg Allen lunges into it. And the Orioles new starting outfielders have gotten down and dirty on the verdant green grass. Tommo Sigano 66 pitches through five innings facing two, three, and four. Has allowed just one earn run through five. He’s allowed three base hits. O2 cutter a couldn’t hold up Rooker. And Sagano picks up his fourth strikeout. First the third inning as Nick Curts who struck out twice looking. Kurt’s ground ball toward Henderson who somehow throws it. Yeah, give him a gold star just for trying. He had no chance in the world, but he made it look nice anyway. Base hit for Curts and he’s reached base 23 straight. Popped up by Sheay right side. Mayo is thereish into the net. Kobe’s got it. Kobe Mayo leans into the netting and robs Langaliers of what would have been just a harmless strike. He takes away an out and her strokes a ground ball to Henderson. He’ll go to second and get the out there. Nicely done play. Orioles still up three to one. We’re in the top of the eighth inning. It’s a 3-1 Orioles lead and Brent Rooker’s at the plate. It’ll be Rooker, Kurts, and Langaliers. Sugano out of the game and into the bullpen now. Canó against Brent Rooker. Rooker gets under a slider. Shallow left center field. Dylan Carlson down to it. He made the catch. One and0 here for Nick Curts. Ended up with a single and this is going to be a single here into right field. Curts two for four today. Michael tonight has been retired twice by Gunnar Henderson in a nifty play made by Kobe Mayo. A little tapper second base too softly to turn two but the Orioles will gladly take the one and that will bring up the left fielder Tyler Soderstrom and so he he’s going to be a threat that swung on hard hit ball pass the diving short stop Henderson into left field for a base hit rounding third and scoring is Kurts taking the long turn at first Sodrom he’ll hold there with a single and the A’s now trail three to2 so Soderstrom picks up his 68th RBI as he brings home Kurts it’s a 3-2 ball game. Bouncing ball gets over the bag to Holiday and he ends the inning. Canó with a ground out. The Athletics pull within one, but the Orioles lead into the bottom of the eighth. Keegan Aken, who had a save in Chicago, his first career three out save. Looking for his second such save with a one-run lead. Colobby Thomas pinch hitting for Lawrence Butler here to lead off the ninth. struck him out. Change up. He did not have to come in. Quick work of the pinch hitter in Thomas by Keegan Aken. And there’s one down. With a base hit in the third inning. He’s the A’s number eight hitter. Back to Keegan. Look what I found. Take a look right here. Balls off. There you go. Two down. Top of the ninth. Aras tonight singled. Drove home one of the two runs with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. the 200 swinging a highf fly ball out to left field. Carlson back in front of the wall. He’ll have room to make the catch and finish the ball game. And the Orioles can exhale with a 3-2 win. [Music]
