New York Yankees vs Houston Astros | Game Highlights (8/9/25)

They’ll be facing Louis Hill making his second start. Three and a third innings in his debut. Four walks, three strikeouts. 2-1. That’s driven deep to left field. There it goes. See youa. Just like that. One- nothing Astros. Pena has had quite a year away from the injury. He is something. And uh didn’t take long yesterday. Two to nothing in the first. Today so far one to nothing after one batter. Line drive. It’s a base hit for Altbe. There goes Alub. The three got It was a late start by Al. I don’t know if that was a stolen base or he’s trying to advance when the ball got away. Yeah, that was almost like a delayed steal and sometimes they’ll try that. See if he takes the hop step. Two, three. No, no, he just got a bad read thinking the ball got away from Rice. A good job. The ball was a little high, but it got there in plenty of time to get out at second base. Two and two on Koreah. First chance for Stanton and he puts it away cleanly for the final out. Base hit up the middle. Trel will cut it off. Fire in. So Goldmith continues his dominance against lefties. A lead off center. They green light him. That’s ball four. First and second, nobody out. The 1-1. Ground ball. A base hit to right field. Goldid will stop at third. Sanchez comes up throwing. It’s cut off by Walker. Base is loaded and nobody out. So here’s Stanton. So imperative that he’s able to play the outfield because he’s so important. His bat is so big and Judge is going to be DH for a bit before his arms right to play right field. So one chance so far and Stanton made it. And here he is coming out with the bases loaded and he walked him. That’ll force in a run. Goldman coming down the third baseline when he touches home plate. It’s a one-1 game. Boy, Jordan Baker ripped his mask off. It looked like Valdez really wanted that pitch and he was kind of eyeballing him in there. See Goldmid giving Ben Rice just kind of a quick scatter report on movement, velocity. That was a ball. Two-1. Fly ball center field tagging his judge. McCormack with the catch. He fires to second. So a run score sack fly for Rice. Yankees take a 2-1 lead. Bellinger moves to third. Stanton stays put at first. Grounded to third. Let’s see if they turn two. There’s one on to first. Double play. 543 double play, but the Yankees take the lead with two runs. Just look at Christian Walker and he was a high prize free agent. I mean I I didn’t realize it. Michael he’s 34 years old had 11 seasons in the major leagues had three gold gloves in Arizona and during that time averaged 32 home runs and 94 RBI. So you know he has had a down year offensively for the $60 million contract that he signed with Houston for three years. And he swings and misses through a high fast ball. One away. The one-two swing and a miss. Two down. Ground ball. Base hit inside third. And that’s going to go down the left field line. Cabayro hustling to second. Trel will play it out there. Cabayro thinks about three, but he’ll stop right there with a double. Line drive caught by two nice plays to help out Valdez. It’s just sometimes as a hitter and as a player in your mind you’re comfortable in certain spots. Well, Heel looks much more comfortable. Three strikeouts last four outs. Sprinting. McCormack strikes out and Heel looks like he’s found his groove a little bit. Yeah. Again, this is a good four seamer, but look, it’s a little bit down in the zone, much more than he was in the first inning. And you just hope that he gets on a roll where he finds that confidence. Swing and a miss. He does strike out the side. Brias McCormick Pñena Sanchez with a fly ball to deep right and that ball’s going to be off the wall as Stanton will scramble after it and it’s going to be a double for Sanchez. You know, I I didn’t think they said to right field. Sanchez grounds third. He’s coming home. Here’s the throw. Here’s the play. Safe. And the runner moves to second on the throw. Also a tie game, but a good throw too. And the one two swing and a miss. Big strike out on the slider getting Sanchez and getting out of the jam. Oh, pitch clock violation. And there’s a walk. Judge held at first by Walker. Each team with five hits. It’s a two- two game. That one’s lined into center field. It’s a base hit in front of McCormack. Judge advances to second. I tell you, Valinger just continues against lefties and just have great at bats. I mean, he stands up so tall with that shoulder just kind of tucked in there and he just does not leave. And at this point in his career, he’s quick enough to to get to the ball in up in the strike zone. Just a tremendous approach. Two hits for Bellinger against Valdez. First and second. Nobody out here. Stanton hit shortly. a base hit to left center field. Judge had a hold up, but he’s going to score easily. Bellinger is going to third. He’ll make it. It’s an RBI single for Stanton. And the Yankees have taken the lead 3-2. Well, this is what you want, Michael. By putting Stanton in right field, you’ve got both of the big bats in the lineup. Cody Bellinger had to read Aaron Judge whether he was going to be sent or not. So, he almost hung up too long. The sinker again up in the strike zone. Fortunate to find a hole up the middle of the room. on the board, but Judge kind of had to freeze there. I think Cody Bellinger kind of got stuck. Is he going or is he not going? Ground ball second base. There’s one and there’s two. Bellinger scores. The Yankees now lead four to two. Alt pops one up and Buli is there. There’s a base hit to left field by Koreah. Nice applause right there. Louis Heel being taken. Two-1 on Walker. Ground ball. Vulpi. There’s one on to first. It’s a double play. Strike three. Ras down on strikes. Really, when guys get up here, they’re already that’s how they’ve been trained. Um, and so not a lot you can do. Oh, safe at second and safe at first. The throw by Dval was off target and Bulpi had to come off the bag to make the catch and he was not on the bag for the force. Well, you could just tell he kind of double clutched there and that’s just your mind where can I can I make this throw and you know with that sidearm delivery it just uh just tailed towards right field a little bit. Got Vulpi off the bag. An easy double play if it’s taken. He rolled his ankle too. It looked like it looks like he’s good though. That’s been it’s been fun for me. That one is looped into left field. That is going to be a base hit. Runners trying to score from third. Here’s the throw. Here’s the play. He’s in there. Throw gets by Dval and the runners will move up. Throw to third. Not in time. So Aluve with an RBI single drives in one. It’s 4-3 Yankees. But the Astros have second and third, just one out. 3-1. Ball four. Now you saw Bedar is warming. Base is loaded now with one out. Well, it’s it’s time to go. I mean, Aaron Boon’s coming out there, and this is the problem that we just talked about. When you use two, three, four relievers, chances are somebody’s not going to have their stuff that day. Once again, they’re asking him for five outs in this game. You can’t give in, but you can’t walk them in. Yeah. No, now that first shot trying to go for the punch out, then you got to kind of be aggressive and go at him. And there’s ball four. That’ll force a run. The game is tied at four. [Music] swing and a miss and gets the strike out on a 98 mph fast ball. Big strikeout for Bedar. Crowd of 45,738 looking for a strikeout. They’ll take it out of any kind. 44 game bases loaded. [Applause] Swing and a miss. Got him. I don’t care. And the Astros lead the bases loaded. And Annie, thanks for coming by. We appreciate it. Well, Gisham didn’t seem ready in the box. He’s looking at the home plate umpire now. So, where’s the eye engagement? Take the ball deep to right field. Derek it go. See youa deep into the second net. A huge home run for Gisham and the Yankees lead 54. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Well, you cannot say enough about Trent Gisham and what he has done offensively for the Yankees. This is a huge home run to put them back on top. You are going to need some of these big signature hits and signature wins to get this thing going. Maybe this is a good one. Behind the ball just absolutely right down the middle. You see the bench over there immediately. There’s no doubt about this one. Fourth game tying or go-ahead home run in the eighth inning or later tied with the athletics Nick Curts for the most in the majors. the 1-1 popped up right side and Bellinger with the catch and you could put that under the heading of a much needed victory for the Yankees. Gisham’s home run and the Yankees win 54 to even up the series in the game. [Music] There’s nothing you can’t do. Count your [Music]
