Insider Drops WILD Leafs Trade Update…
There’s some big news to go over today as NHL insider Elliot Freeman has dropped a huge report surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs that not only changes the outlook of the next couple weeks, but provides some very critical information surrounding the future of a couple of Leafs. So, to break that down, as well as discuss another report from Chris Johnson that also reveals some critical information. But before we get into it all, if you’re part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, folks, make sure to hit the subscribe button. About 70% of you who are watching right now aren’t subscribed. It would mean the world to Darius myself if you could hit that subscribe button. Darius, a lot to go over today. Obviously, the Leafs are in a uh again an interesting spot. I say that often because they are still like another move is going to happen. We’re not having reports from Elliot Freeman from Chris Johnson. Of course, a lot of stuff has started to emerge surrounding this Toronto Maple Leafs team, particularly regarding two key players, really three, but two especially. And let’s dive into this new report here. And obviously, we’re going to dive into, you know, what some trades could look like a little bit later. But, you know, they acquired Dakota Joshua, they got Machelli, they got some guys here. And now, a recent report from Elliot Freeman has dropped saying, “I definitely think the Leafs have work to do here. I don’t know what their timeline is, but nobody expects them not to do things before puck drops. That’s for sure. So, this is obviously reinforcing the fact that again, we’re talking about, you know, a top six move. It’s actually good to see Elliot Freeman not come out and say that they’re probably done for the offseason because if that was the case, he’d probably know. He would be the guy to know. And they have work to do. And everybody around the league, executives of other teams, and of course, the Leafs believe they are not going to be done yet. And they’re going to make another move ahead of October’s puck drop on opening night. Yeah, absolutely. I would have been more concerned if this tweet and if he went out Elliot Friedman, this is on his podcast 32 thoughts and said the Leafs are done. I would have been concerned then. This is uh a little obvious, but when you think about it, I think things are about to get very interesting because we don’t know exactly what’s going to happen with Nick Robertson. And I think that, you know, when you’re looking at it on paper, I think Cali Yarnro and David Camp are obviously, we’ve been talking about it for weeks at this point, the two easiest candidates to trade in terms of freeing up salary cap space, right? You’d free up almost $5 million, $4.5 million. uh and that and then you can go out with your remaining salary and if you made another move then you can go out and get a really you know big fish out there to play in your top six even if you don’t you can still get a top six player I believe so uh via trade at least so I think that obviously on paper it makes sense to trade those two now the thing is leaguewide it’s been very quiet and I think that some dominoes are you know still some teams are waiting for some dominoes to fall we have no idea what’s happening with Jack Rosvic he’s been linked to the Leafs as well but I think you know uh if you look at Nick Robertson And I wonder if there’s a situation where now they have to maybe use him as a trade chip to free up some salary. It’s not as much as Cali Yarnroke, let’s say, but almost a difference of $400,000. So, uh, it could or maybe a little bit less than that, but I think that, you know, they might be looking at that now because across the league, is there interest in David Camp and Kelly Yarnro? I think there could be a lot of interest in Cali Yarnro because of his capit and what he brings to a team, but David Camp, I’m not so sure. And I think that’s really scary uh for Brad living in the Toronto Maple Leafs because David Camp out of the two really and out of the three I should say really does not have a spot on this team whatsoever. I mean Scott Laden is going to be the fourthline center. I think that’s what they’re envisioning. The center depth is unbelievable heading into next year and I think they’ve done a lot of really good things on the wing and with the bottom six of course but uh I think that Kylie Yarnro leaguewide is probably the most attractive because of the experience he brings and all of these things and the fact that he still can play in a top six on some other team. Maybe not the Toronto Maple Leafs, of course, but uh I think that and I’m starting to wonder if there even is interest in David Camper around the league and that could become an interesting situation for the lease if they then have to trade Nick Robertson. Yeah, Chris Johnson gave some insight on that. He said Leafs could still ship out one or more of David Camp, Kelly, and Nick Robertson before the season begins. They’ve been reluctant to part with Robertson because of his age related upside. So, at this point, it seems that at least for now, Nick Robertson is going to remain a Toronto Maple Leaf. I didn’t think that was going to be the case, but I think there’s a good chance, especially if they ship off somebody else and they make a move, whether it be in the top six or wherever. Seems that Nick Robertson is probably going to remain a leaf. Now, another report from Anthony DeMarco, a lot of reports came out. He said the Caloner and David Camp are the top candidates on paper to be cleared out and there doesn’t seem to have been any talks recently to move either player. So, things are moving slowly, but what we can take for sure is that from all these three insiders, they are going to move off of one of them. Now you mentioned obviously the fact that you look at it now you have Scott Lton down there playing fourth line center. David Camp no matter which way you really move things around doesn’t factor into this team like you’re probably if you’re going to play him on the wing a lot of his value not that he had a ton of value anyway but he’s a decent depth center that can you know be responsible defensively. I feel like the lease would probably rather have you know on the obviously on the fourth line if it’s your center Scott Lton probably definitely would rather Scott Lton but there’s also guys like Cali Arnrook they probably rather play him Nick Robertson although they do different things you’d probably rather have a spot open for him so unless they make a move for you moving off Bobby McMahon or Max Doi and everyone else has to move up depending on who you get back because you assume you get somebody back makes things very difficult for you know David Camp to even find a role on this team because again we’ve used this graph a lot and no matter what way you shuffle it I just don’t see a world where, you know, David Camp gets in. But the problem with that is you then have over $4 million on your uh, you know, not playing on a daily basis, assuming it’s Nick Robertson and David Camp on the outside looking in, and you only have $1.9 million in projected cap space. And again, he’s hit making 2.4. You have guys like Max Doi of playing every day making 3.7, but it’s an expensive cap hit for someone who I mean, he’ll probably play some games, but uh, not a ton. We saw last year in the playoffs was pretty unplayable. only played one game against the Panthers and did really bad. Yeah, he didn’t play at all, right? Like you bring up the point of David Camp, does he have a spot going into next season? He didn’t even have a spot and I know he was injured, but didn’t even have a spot last season. He played one playoff game and it was a horrific game, right? So, it was game five against the Panthers. So, uh I he just doesn’t have a spot on this team. But I think it’s interesting you bring up Maxi as well. You know, when you look around the team in the roster right now, they have to free up salary cap space. And obviously, you know, if we were to make a list, it’s probably David Camp, Cali, Armcro, then Nick Robertson, and then maybe if you’re looking at the salaries and who you’d actually move off of, maybe it’s Max Doy. He makes almost $4 million. That being said, I don’t think that they should, and I don’t think that they will move off Max Doi. You know, if you watch the playoffs last year, yes, he took a lot of dumb penalties, but you know what you’re getting with Max Doi, and he he plays that role, right? And obviously, he scored a couple big goals for the Leafs as well. So, I I think that’s why you have him. Was it the best regular season? No. And I’ve been very critical of that on the channel. He has to be better next year. But and I think that he can be, but the thing for me is you have him for those moments. And he did show up big, I think, in in certain moments, but of course, you know, given give and take with him. But, uh, I I think it’s going to get very interesting. Again, I don’t know if they should trade Nick Robertson, but if it comes down to it to free up salary cap space to then go out and get maybe a Brian Rust or something like that, cuz that’s something that I’ve been thinking about where free up enough salary cap space like five or $6 million, you’re in an area where you can acquire Ricard Raquel or Brian Russ, and those two could help your team in the top six. So, if it’s a situation where it’s like, you know, you got to trade Nick Robertson because nobody really wants David Camp for anything like that and we got to free up some salary cap space to make this work to get our top six player, then yes, you do that. But uh in terms of ranking, I I would try and stay away from trading Nick Robertson as much as possible. But we’ll see what they end up doing. Obviously, I think things are going to pick up this month, which is pretty ironic because usually it’s the opposite and July isn’t as quiet as it, you know, usually isn’t as quiet as it was this year. But it’s going to get interesting. I think Bratcher Living wants to make a move before the season starts and probably before preseason starts because you want to get everyone kind of acclimated and you don’t want to ship out guys that just went through all the preseason and training camp. uh you know, right before the regular season starts, you want somebody in there if you’re going to get a top six forward to kind of get acclimated to the system, everything through that uh through training camp and obviously preseason as well. Yeah. And Elliot Freeman kind of describes the slow market a little bit, but basically saying that regarding the offseason extensions, which also you can kind of translate some of the same logic to trades. I just think we’re going to go be going through this whole contract reset. I think they’re still figuring out. I think that’s why we’ve seen some of the biggest deals not yet signed. And also, of course, you know, once the market starts flowing, it’s going to flow fast. But something else to note here, it’s very interesting about Will Reander. Offensive zone face off percentage in the playoffs. You look at McDavid, you or McKinnon rather, you look at McDavid, you look at Matthews. Matthews is undoubtedly elite defensively, but a goal for next season should be to stop using him in the DZ situations as much. That’s why David Camp makes 2.4 million for this exa exact purpose. So again, there is like the flip side where you can find space for him to be used, especially if you want to limit Matthews in some other areas. But I don’t know if like I just don’t see it happening as much. I don’t think Craig Bubé loves the player, you know, right now or at least clearly the team, some sort of team doesn’t like the player. And I also think that as much as we’ve been talking about trades and things like that. We’ll probably have another video on this. And Austin Matthews bounce back, I think, is something that will help solve a lot of the problems as it pertains to the lack of goal scoring. really again it doesn’t really affect the David Camp situation but it kind of helps put a lot of the smaller questions you know and answer the smaller questions and take a lot of the smaller questions out of the equation because if Matthews goes back to putting up even 40 or 50 goals which he should do a lot of their questions are finished but you could still use one more either goal scorer or playmaker in the top six and ideally something someone who can obviously do both you mentioned Brian Rush Troy Terry there’s been a lot of names out there but at the end of the day they had to move off of one of you know these two to three or even four players, obviously not all four, but one of the four to uh to make a deal happen. And I think it’s going to happen probably in the next uh couple weeks based on what we’re hearing. But it’s been a slowmoving market. It has been, but I think that it is about to pick up this month around the league and certainly with the Toronto Maple Leafs. And if you look at the lineup, goending solidified. Yes, there is obviously that cloud hanging over everyone’s head with Anthony Stolars. Do you resign him? When do you resign him? But goending solidified at least for next year. The defense is solidified and I think that they have some good pieces with the Marlies as well if there is injuries. And then the forward group, if they do trade Cali Arrow, David Camp, they go out and get a top six forward. I think this is a better team than last year, I think it’s a better constructed team. I think you have more goal scoring throughout the the whole lineup and guys who are, you know, don’t shy away from the physical side of the game either and actually encourage it and embrace it. And I think that’s, you know, a recipe for success, especially with the way the game is going right now. Like look at the last couple Stanley Cup champions. You have to be, you know, killers to go out there and win the Stanley Cup. So I think they built a team like that. They need one more piece and I think if Matthews bounces back like most people are expecting to and Knander continues to do what he’s doing the last couple years, I think this team’s going to be fine. I was a journalist in my past life, you use a big catching line if something has happened.
But nothing has and actually you reported nothing new.
So this is a bit disappointing.
Take it easy with the big headlines.
Nothing going to happen no trade please guys stop it
The player to target in a trade is Arteri Panarin.. You heard it here first!
I like Kampf way more than Laughton. I don’t really understand why he’s leaving.
Could you put Kamph on waivers hope some team claimes him
Trade, Kampf, Robertson, Reilly, Woll 4th/5th rnd 2027 to Edmonton for Bouchard, Pickard, Jones
I do think Mathews is still hurt that wrist is still not 100% its just my opinion but I think that wrist bothered him all last year and he kept quiet about it we need Austin to hit that 70 goal mark or better that would prove to me he is ok
Can Kampf and Jankrok be put on waivers or bought out if no takers?
From trade rumor Caps to aquire C David Kampf from leafs for 4th in 2026 if true or not we will see?
From trade rumor that leafs to aquire C/RW Michael McCarron from Predators for F Calle Järnkrok and F Prospect Ryan Tverberg if true or not we will see?
From 3 way trade rumor between leafs, sharks, pens
leafs to aquire F Tyler Toffoli at 25% retained by Pens and LD/RD Mario Ferraro at 50% retained by sharks for F Nicholas Robertson and F Prospect Jacob Quillan and conditional 3rd in 2028 and leafs send RD Philippe Myers and G prospect Dennis hildeby for 2nd in 2026 and pens retain 25% on Tyler Toffoli if true or not we will see?
From trade rumor pens to aquire f prospect Roni Hirvonen NHL rights from Leafs for 3rd in 2027 if true or not we will see?
"Reluctant to move Nick Robertson …" – they've been trying to dump him last 2 years with no takers. And no G/M wants Kampf or Jarnkrok unless Leafs throw in a 1st.
you wonder why 70% of the watchers dont subscribe. you guys say the same stuff every day, if you dont have new info, dont make a video
Trade Kampf and jarnkrok and hirvonen rights and rights to topi niemela for a first round pick from Dubas. He can have his old junk and midgets back !
Trade rights to Jeremy Bracco back to Dubas for a first round pick .
Trade rights to Dennis Malgin to Dubas for a power forward similar to Mason Marchment
Trade rights to Nick Foligno to Dubas for our first round pick back
Trade rights to Marleau to Dubas for a player like Seth Jarvis
I can think of lots more stupid trades that Dubas made . Why would leafs want to deal with this guy and take his old junk ( Rust and Rakell) , while Dubas is left laughing at the leafs . I say No Deal !!
