The League is TERRIFIED… The Padres Are DANGEROUS

The league is terrified as the Padres’s are way too powerful. All things coming together for a solid series win. Padres’s fans are excited. Major implications. Had to had to add that in there. Hi, welcome back to another episode of Padres’s Digest with your host Andrew. Today we have some good baseball to talk about and I’m super happy because today was a great day. Before we get into it, please subscribe as always. Okay, so I don’t have an AJ Castville recap, but I do have an Annie Hellburn recap, which is just as good. # Padres’s take 20 of three from the Red Sox. Dylan Cece with another encouraging outing, six innings pitched, one earned run. Luis Rise two for four with two RBI. San Padres’s face the Giants in San Francisco starting tomorrow. That’s going to be huge. I know they’re playing really bad right now, even with Raphael Devers, but again, rivalry games are always different. Let’s put it that way. So today, this was the least stressful win we’ve had in a week, a week and a half. I’ll absolutely take it. So Dylan CE, we’ll start with you. Today, Dylan Cece with Freddy Fedin as his catcher, which is the past two starts, 11 innings pitched, two earned runs, five hits, three walks, 16 strikeouts, found his new favorite catcher. I just want to say this, right? Not to toot my own horn, but when we all made those Dylan CE videos and everyone was like, “Oh, trade Dylan CE. He sucks.” And I posed the question, “Well, maybe just Maldonado isn’t a good catcher for him.” And people are like, “No, the catcher doesn’t matter. You’re stupid, Andrew. Look at me now. Look at me now. Never doubt me. I am literally always right. There’s not one time you can prove me wrong except for that one time, like a couple videos ago.” Besides that, I’m always right. Never doubt me. Okay, continuing. I’m a lunatic. I’m so sorry. Okay, Dylan C. really good, right? Uh, the biggest thing with CE was becoming less predictable. We know he can blow you away with 100 mile per hour gas and a powerful slider, but you got to switch it up. And we’ve seen a lot more sinkers and knuckle curves the last two starts. Not a coincidence. Fetamine has been his battery mate. Talk about that. I’ll show you that in a sec. But yeah, and the one earned run today, I don’t even want to say it was entirely his fault. I mean, Bogarts had that error that could have like destroyed our entire team. Uh, but then we remembered that we have the god tier bullpen and things kind of worked out. And we’ll get into bullpen in a sec, but like is has BDE. If you don’t know what BD stands for, look it up. But Morahone has some of the biggest BDE in the entire league. If there’s there’s like a there’s VAR, right? vibes above replacement. A new one. Morahone has league leading BDE. I’m claiming it now. Uh but yeah, Dylan Cece, good game, right? I just saw a stat about highest eras in the league and Dylan Cece used to be on that, but now he’s at a 445, which again is like crazy good obviously, but it’s going down, right? And I can show you this last couple of starts. It goes up this list, not down, but uh yeah, I mean the Mets one, not great, right? But besides that, the uh Washington, Miami, pretty good, right? And then last time against the Cardinals, no earned runs. The walk, nine strikeouts. Listen, the RA is going down, right? I mean, it was 488 on uh 79 July 9th. Now we’re at a four. What was it? Four out. Uh 445. Listen, things are looking positive for Dylan CE. And what did we say? What did I say in that one video about Dylan CE and why he could be good in the second half? I said if he starts mixing in more pitches, he can be more effective and go deeper into games. And what happened? He started mixing in more pitches and he’s going deeper into games. Put that on the scoreboard for Andrew is literally always right. Never been wrong in my entire life. No, you can’t prove it. Please don’t prove it. Please don’t. Okay, moving on. Uh, bullpen. Yeah, so I saw this called shutdown leaderboard. I don’t actually know what statistic shutdown is. I thought it was just another way of saying hold, but it’s a little different. So, I asked my best friend chat GBT and this is what they said. A shutdown in baseball is when a relief pitcher helps their team chances of winning in a big way. If their performance in that game increases the wins, the win team’s win probability by at least 6%. So, plus point or 0.06, 06. It’s counted as a shutdown. Think of it like they came in, pitched well, and made their team more likely to win. Wow. One Padre, two Padre, three Padre, four Padre. And I assume Mason Miller would be on there. I don’t know. But listen, you can make all the trades you want. Mets, Yankees, other teams. You will never have the same kind of dog this bullpen has because they are absolutely insane. Right. Base is loaded. comes in. What’s that strike out? I mean, even Adam who like gave up a hit, right? But then he struck out the next two batters and then the next batter struck out. Three straight strikeouts to end the inning. What other bullpen in the MLB could do that? Even the Yankees, uh, I haven’t caught up on the Yankees in a while, but when they had their first game with their new bullpen with Camille Dval and uh, David Bednar, they sucked. I don’t know how they are now, but they sucked. And that makes me laugh. The Yankees right now suck. That makes me so happy. I hate New York. Also, the Mets suck right now and that makes me happy because I hate New York teams and we’re the reason for it. I love that. Uh, but yeah, bullpen amazing. Also, I want to give a huge shout out. I think it’s the next picture actually. Uh, yeah, bet the Red Sox thought they saw all the demons the Padres’s had to offer, then they introduced David Morgan Lamau. I love David Morgan. I’m sad they sent down I’m sad they sent down Shawn Reynolds, but I get why obviously to make room for Michael King, but I still think Shawn Reynolds is a dog. But David Morgan is genuinely insane. Absolutely insane. I I think they saw on the they said on the broadcast he hasn’t given him a hit in like the past I guess now would be like 16 played appearances. Hello. Is he like the right-handed Mora home right now? And like I love it so much that like we gave him the opportunity. It was only a four-run read a lead, right? That’s still in slam range. But we gave David Morgan that opportunity because we trust him so much because he really is that filthy. David Morgan, certified dog. Literally, everyone in this bullpen, I’m so sorry, Yuki Pookie. Everyone in this bullpen is an absolute dog. Yes, I’m including Wu Peralto, even though his last outing wasn’t as great, but he’s been a dog for like the past three months or something like that. So, yeah, I love this bullpen so much. I love this team so much. This is a second half team that we wished or we were like praying for throughout the entire first half. I’m not saying like this team’s here, everything is good going to happen. Like we’re going to have the first real true test. I know Red Sox are really good, but rivalry games are different. Like we’re going to have our first true test uh with rivalry teams post deadline these next like what two, three weeks. Giants uh Dodgers. Dodgers. No, Giants, Dodgers. Giants, Dodgers. I think something like that. You can yell at me if I’m wrong, but it’s going to be insane. Next couple of baseball. I have a picture for that. I think it’s uh this one. Nope. I’ll find it. N. There we go. PSA. I advise every single one of you to Padres’s fans to enjoy today’s game against the Red Sox because after today we play the Giants and the Dodgers until August 26th. That is gonna get old quick and it’s going to be exhausting. Yeah, Dodgers games already bring out like the absolute stress in us. We’re going to do it twice. You know what I mean? And the worst of the fan bases come together. Like I get so many we get so many Dodger fan comments when the Dodgers start playing us that it’s like cringe, insane, and a little annoying. It even brings the worst out of me. Like I made that one post picture of David Roberts crying and pissed off like a the five Dodger fans who came to our It was funny but it brings the worst out of all of it, right? I I will also claim that. But yeah, moving on to offense though. The last two runs the Padres’s have scored in large part due to pure hustle. Gronorf hustles all the way in a bloop double. He scores on Tati single. Machado single, steals second, scores on Bogart’s bloop single. Really good baseball. But I don’t know if Connor Wong is just a horrible catcher, but like we were stealing every single base. Also, I feel bad for Tatis cuz like I swear to God he had like five stolen base attempts and every single time he did, Arise would hit a foul ball. And like listen, Tatis would have been safe like probably four out of those five times. So it was a little annoying, but again, Arise’s job is like or his thing is that he swings at literally everything. So what can you do, right? But I don’t want to hear anyone. I know Machado I don’t also I don’t Oh, okay. Let me think of my thoughts. When he doesn’t run the first, I agree. I don’t love that, but again, I’m not Machado. I don’t know his body, so maybe that’s what he needs to do to stay healthy. But you can’t say Machado doesn’t hustle, man. I swear to God, man is like top 15 in the NL probably and stolen bases. He knows how to hustle, right? If he doesn’t run out a grounder to he hit the third base and he doesn’t run it out, fine, whatever. I don’t love it, but fine, whatever. But that man hustles. Everyone on his team hustles. You can’t say they don’t. I don’t want to see Machado or Tatis being lazy. I don’t want to see it. I don’t want to see it. Is that And the patience hustle is a big thing today. And the patience is such a big thing. The one at bat I’m thinking of is when Raman Lauriano was down 02 and then somehow managed to draw a walk. That’s some big that’s some big things, right? And Tatis had some good uh patience. I know he struck out, but still. Was it twice or once out? I already forgot. Uh one strike out. Yeah, but Tatis had really good bats today. And I mean, you got two hits, right? So, it’s a good game for good game for Tatis and the walk, of course. Uh, but yeah, I mean, overall, I don’t think there’s any I don’t think there was a bad game. I mean, Merryill got on base. So did Lauriano. Two strikeouts from Loriano, though, wasn’t great. But still, that one walk was big because it could have been three strikeouts. You know what I’m saying? Uh, but yeah, big big big days from everybody. Uh, and then moving on, just to talk about this real quick because I saw it and it made me laugh. Prefers to eat hot dogs without condiments on. I just want to say I wholeheartedly agree with Ryan O’Harn. I raw dog my wieners, okay? I don’t put anything on it. I eat it straight up. Go to Costco, get a hot dog, don’t put anything on it. I raw dog it, okay? And that’s the best way to enjoy a hot dog. Maybe put some bacon on it if you want. Uh or like a wrap it in the bacon. That’s good. But like they don’t have that at Costco, so I’m I’m just get a full plain hot dog. It tastes amazing. Come at me. Do you guys like that too? Let me know. I’m curious who’s on team Raw Dog Hot Dogs. Raw Dog Hot Dogs. Starting that. Okay. Oh, sorry. Next one. Uh, did that one already. This one. Okay. I saw this on the first game recap for the Red Sox and that’s when they won. And then I saw this comment and of course I’m a troll so I had to say this. Red Sox will sweep the series. Bet on it. Yesterday’s win. How’s that going for you? Today’s win? No. Like really? How’s that going for you? Did you lose a whole bunch of money? I bet he did. Let’s don’t troll the guy. Don’t troll the guy. It’s okay. I don’t mind the trash talk. I just thought it was hilarious how confident he was that the Red Sox were going to sleep. But yeah, and then I showed you this one already, but yeah, that’s pretty much it. I think I showed you everything I had. Yeah, we talked about the good offense, talked about the bullpen, talked about the good pitching. So, I’m pretty sure that’s it. Tomorrow, we’re going to play Logan Webb, which will be a big matchup, especially for Udarvish because Giants offense isn’t great, right? But they still have good players on the offense. I mean, Rafie Des is still a good player, so that’ll be a big game for Udarvish. And Logan Webb, obviously one of the best pitchers in the league, so that’ll be a good true test for the offense. Bella was good, right? Bella was good. He’s a good pitcher, and we did good against him today. So, I’m hoping we can carry that over to Logan Webb tomorrow. But yeah. Oh, also, uh it’s not updated, but we’re two games behind the Dodgers cuz they just lost to the Blue Jays like before I recorded this. So, big things happening. Let’s be excited about it.
