Bote!! Remember watching this live… I can’t stand Matty V stupid santa Maria catch phrase
I was at this game … first time going to Wrigley since I was a kid 🥹. Absolutely unreal experience being at the ballpark, it was shaking
We were lucky enough to be there! This was such an electric moment at Wrigley, and so happy for Bote. I believe I remember him saying later that his wife could hear fans chanting his name from their apartment nearby.
And it was actually the Cubs’ second walk off grand slam of the season. Heyward had one in the first half too, also on a 2-2 count with 2 outs.
My best friend passed away two days before this and my other friend who’s a die hard Sox fan knew how hard I was taking it. He basically forced me to come out to this game. He literally just hugged me after this home run while I was finally able to cry it out.
Every kids dream! Any stats nerds know how many times a walk-off GS, down by three in the bottom of the 9th has occurred?
On my way home that night, I drove past Wrigley late in the game and saw from the marquee that they were losing. I figured it wouldn’t be worth tuning in, but when I got home and saw it was the 9th, I decided “why not?” Turned it on just in time to see this.
This gave birth to my lock screen background for about 5 years.
Great moment but overhyped and definitely overhyped Bote. I’ve seen people have this moment over Montero’s grand slam in the NLCS.
Great post.
The actual audio is the best but this is mildly amusing – synced with the Titanic music:

Turned it off after the 8th and went to bed. I was real sad in the morning lol

Bottom ninth, 2 outs, bases loaded, down by 3
There’s not a single one of us who hasn’t fantasized about hitting a grand slam like this one.
This popped up on my social media feed today[rizzo teasing Freddy Freeman in pickle chasedown](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJo9Ehmtt7T/?igsh=eTFjY3NuNWZvbnc1)
