Are the Tennessee Titans GIVING UP on Xavier Restrepo?

Are the Tennessee Titans about ready to really move on from Xavier Restrepo? What? Well, the latest news isn’t good. We’re going to talk about it next on Titan Upload. [Music] So, if you follow social media and follow X and Instagram and all these other places, YouTube, you’ll probably think Xavier Restrepo has a really good chance to make the football team. But does he really? There were some people that really vouched from him early and said he was a lock, but those people are becoming crickets of late and they’re not really giving Xavier much of a chance now at all. And after the Tampa Bay game, the first preseason game, yeah, that was not a good sign if you thought Restreo had a chance to make the team. If you also follow the Tennessee Titans account, you might also think he’s going to make the team. They made a nice special post just about him and Cam Ward. They were the first two to report to Raymond James Stadium for the first preseason game. Xavier Restrepo and Cam Ward both got individual pictures and pictures together. What’s interesting about it? I get it. Cam Ward number one pick. Xavier Restrepo undrafted free agent getting a lot of love from the Titan social media department. Not complaining. I’m just saying you’re watching that you probably think he has a good chance to make the team. Yeah, and let’s not act like it’s not deserving. Xavier Restrepo comes in with very high regard. I mean, the dude tore up Miami stats as a wide receiver. Michael Irvin, Andre Johnson, just to name a few. I was impressed with him at the Senior Bowl that 40 time and whether he was injured or he wasn’t injured and was a hamstring or wasn’t the hamstring, every single NFL team passed on him a lot of times, including the Tennessee Titans. So, before we get too much into this video, here’s your chance to comment below and let me know what you really think about Xavier Restrepo. Why does he deserve to be on the 53man roster of the Tennessee Titans? So, what challenges does he face to make the 53man roster? Well, let’s start with the uh elephant in the room that there’s just a lot of receivers on the team ahead of him. You got Calvin Ridley. He’s going to be a stud, so we’ll put him to the side. But then you got other veterans like Lockett and you got Van Jefferson. Will they move on from Van Jefferson? I didn’t think he had a great first preseason game myself, but what do I know? And he hasn’t really produced a lot over the last couple years. So, if there’s anybody they can move on from, it’d be him. But you’re going to replace him with Xavier Restrepo. I don’t know if that makes much sense. Then you got your two rookies that you draft in the fourth round, EK and Manner. You’re not going to get rid of those guys. Bryce Oliver seems to be a lock. And then the other one that’s tore up camp to this point, it’s Proche. And the best part about Proche is he’s punt returner. Put those into context. Xavier Restrepo, third string at punt returner. And then you add guys like Mason Kinsey and Jaquan Jackson to the mix. The second depth chart that’s come out. Juan Jackson is still your leading kick returner. I don’t think that guy’s going to make the team and I don’t think he has much of a chance at all. I don’t know what really the Titans are trying to prove here, but for whatever it is, maybe it’s because he was drafted in the sixth round last year, they’re going to give him one more chance. I don’t see him making the team. And if you look at the depth chart at wide receiver, it makes sense as well. Here’s the other challenge he’s got going on right now. For the second time in a row, he’s under Mason Kinsey on the depth chart. So, I know some people ignored it. Some people came to their own conclusions and some national media outlets tried to put him off to like he’s the eighth guy stepping into that seven six spot, but they forgot Mason Kinsey. And here’s the thing, if you don’t get snaps in the preeason and your name’s not Calvin Ridley and you’re either hurt or you’re a veteran, that’s not good. I think the first time he got out there was like five minutes to go in the third quarter. So yeah, limited first snaps in a preseason game. Kind of a big deal when you’re trying to make the 53. And then finally, he’s just a undrafted free agent. We know how that looks. We know how that works. They’re going to give everybody on the team who is drafted a chance to make it. Look, let’s take Cleveland for example. You don’t think they’re going to give uh Gabriel and Shador Sanders a realistic chance at quarterback at some point this year? I mean, they drafted him in the third and the fifth round. If they weren’t going to give him a chance whatsoever, then what’s the point of even taking two quarterbacks in a draft when you’re going to start Joe Flacco the whole year? So, it doesn’t make much sense to take guys in the draft and not even give them an opportunity and just all of a sudden take a UDFA and be like, “All right, this guy’s going to be the front runner and he’s going to make the roster.” Or how many stats he put up in college, he still was an undrafted free agent. He’s not making that huge of a jump or impact just yet. There’s still two preseason games. There’s still a joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons. And by all accounts, going into the Tampa Bay preseason game, I was hearing that he was getting some second string reps. And for Xavier Restru, that’s a big deal. Now, I’m not going to sugarcoat it and act like it’s not a big deal, but yeah, I saw it firsthand. Tim Bole was awful. And for those that defended Bole and made it seem like it wasn’t a big deal, oh yeah, it was a huge deal. Why? because the Tennessee Titans decided to move on from him after that preseason game and brought in veteran Trevor Semian. But my question to the Titans is what took so long to figure this out? And all the media right now blasting how bad the backup quarterbacks were, did they just get bad or they’ve been bad the whole time? And then if they’ve been bad the whole time, why didn’t you say anything in the offseason leading up to this preseason game? I guess through my rambling, if you’re a wide receiver trying to make the football team, he didn’t really have much of a chance to impress anybody. So, yeah, Xavier Restrepo, he wasn’t even if he did play a lot on Saturday night, he probably wasn’t going to impress anybody either. This is a super huge important joint practice because if you remember last year, this is what separated Jaquan Jackson from the mix. So, I still think there is hope for Xavier Restrepo. I guess the point of the video is we’re getting to the point where he’s running out of time. He’s got a preseason game, a joint practice, and another preseason game. And then you also got guys like Landers who are impressing Tampa Bay Bucks media guys. So, we’ll have to see if he continues to get reps. I didn’t mention much of TJ Sheffield, but he’s still on the team. And I can’t forget our guy Mason Kinsey because he’s got one of the fewest amount of opportunities. They don’t let him return punts anymore, even though that’s his ticket to make the team. And he was your starting punt returner in the last five or six games in the season when Jaquan Jackson couldn’t figure it out. You got to at least acknowledge the fact that Restreo is a good football player. Restrepo, I don’t know why he never got drafted. I don’t know what it’s going to look like if the Titans release him. If anybody tries to claim him, because they didn’t even want to waste a seventh round pick on him. I can’t imagine they’re going to be pounding on the table to assign him to their 53 man roster. uh claiming him off the Titans when they release him. But here’s the thing, he does have a nice chemistry with Cam Ward. That’s got to be a plus. Number two, he put up those massive stats at Miami. He is reliable. He can get open. He is shifty. He does find the open space. And I think from the start and from the jump, who did the Titans want to be their punt returner? Who do the Titans want to be their kick returner? It’s not Proche. It’s not Mason Kinsey. Obviously, they’re not even giving him a chance. It’s not Jaquan Jackson and it’s certainly not Xavier Restrepo. It’s DK. Ultimately, I think it’s DK’s job to lose even though he’s right now in second place. I think that’s the name you should be paying more attention to because he was drafted, you would think, to be that spot. And heck, took Jaquan Jackson in the sixth round to be their punt returner last year. Taking DK in the fourth round, that would seem like common sense what their plan is. Fans want him to make the roster. We had a poll question about four stories of Tennessee Titans other than Cam Ward. Xavier Restrepo won by a mile. He’s definitely a fan favorite, but again, we’ll keep an eye on it. If he’s going to make any growth, it’s got to be this week. So again, comment below. Let me know. 1. I wanted him to be great, the few times he ran rts in TB game, it didn't seem like he could separate. But maybe he gets better this week 🤞🏼. Unfortunately, I haven't been impressed with Cali , he's was a down grade from Vrabs but I did think we needed a change.

  2. I think it would be a shame to have him on this roster and not put them out on the field with Cam at least for a series. Show what he can do to help our number one pick shine. Also, being undrafted, if they wanted to get Young and affordable … Why not an undrafted free agent?
