How Will The Miami Dolphins Respond To Getting Punched In The Mouth?!

We got some things to talk about. And as you can see by that title, you might be asking yourself, who punches who in the mouth and what’s going on. [Music] What is up, Finn fans? got some more information and some more news about that joint practice on Friday with the Chicago Bears that we are going to talk about because how the Miami Dolphins respond to said practice kind of dictates how the rest of the season’s going to go and if there is a culture change. But before we jump into that, there are things that I do want to talk about. Two little instances or information. First and foremost, I want to give everyone who bought some DDW merch, whether it’s the show me, whether it’s whatever. Um, this is what the email I got from Teespring. They said, “Thank you for reaching out.” And I here, let me show you. Let me show you. Hey everybody, this is uh Doug editing this and I realized that my audio was not working. So, this is what the email says. Thank you for reaching out. I truly appreciate your patience. Due to ongoing supply distribution following our recent platform transition, some orders, including yours, which is the two orders that I made, have been deploy deployed delayed longer than we would typically expect. I completely understand how frustrating this has been and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. While we don’t have an ETA at the moment, we are actively working with our new print uh patterns uh to get fully caught up and move outstanding orders through production as quickly as possible. We appreciate your continued patience uh as we work through this final stage of the transition. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Best Gilbert. Um, yeah. So, now back to what I had to say when I go back because whenever I switch through scenes, if I don’t update the, uh, input, the mic doesn’t work. Okay, Doug. So, uh, for the people who’ve gotten it, I am very happy you’ve gotten it. For the people who are waiting, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Um, Teespring. I’m probably not going to be using them anymore because this is a problem and I don’t want my name associated to people getting merchandise and it taking this long for you to get it. Again, you saw the orders that I even put in. I haven’t even gotten my orders. So, I’m probably not going to be using Teespring anymore. Um, if you guys know of any good, reliable uh merchandise sites, please send them my way. Um, and I’m going to check them all out and I’m going to transfer from Teespring because this is not cool at all. So, there’s that update. The other update, Chris Kaufman, uh, pointed something out which I thought was interesting. This is per Jeremy Fowler. He said, “I have talked to a few teams who are at least modering of his future a little bit. Talking about Tyreek Hill. Could he potentially be a trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, “No, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill, but they uh but they just wonder, is he going to be available?” It could be wishful thinking. Maybe they think uh him maybe they want him to be available, but he’s a player when I bring up to teams, hey, who is sort of uh the trade target you’re watching? They bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua. That would be a major move if they did move away from him. Now that Chris Kaufman said uh he is due so Tyreek Hill is due $15.85 million roster bonus at on the end of this month on the 31st. Only natural for teams to keep an eye on the situation in case Miami would rather unload him at a fire sale price so as not to pay it or agree to pay it themselves in exchange for more valuable draft picks. Um, the only way I could see Tyreek Hill being traded is before the trade deadline. If the wheels fell off the season and the Miami Dolphins are like, “Well, this is a bad uh we didn’t build this roster properly or something bad happens or whatever. I’m going to knock on wood.” That’s the only way I can see Tyreek Hill being traded at all. Uh, I don’t see him being traded beforehand. If you watched the Dolphin Collective last night, uh Omar Kelly even said they wouldn’t have dealt with him up to this point to then trade him what, about a month, less than a month before the start of the season. So, no, I don’t see that happening. Some bad news on the Miami Dolphins front. Unfortunately, running back Alexander Madison underwent season ending neck surgery Sunday in Chicago. per source, uh, Madison hurt his neck during Sunday’s game versus the Bears, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and had surgery. So, we were told after the game by Mike McDaniel, which I reported on, that uh, it’s nothing serious. Well, it is something serious and it is something extremely serious in the fact that um he had surgery and this could be a careerending move for him which really really sucks because not only does it suck because his career could be over and obviously this is incredibly uh dangerous situation but it sucks in the aspect of he was the way he was producing. He was the number two running back in on the team right now and he was doing really well once those pads came on. And obviously you saw when they had Jaylen Wright uh down in the goal line and they ran the ball four times. We couldn’t get in. Madison would have got us in. So it really really hurts to lose him. But the Miami Dolphins did end up going and signing two new running backs after the move. Uh signing veteran Aaron Shamp Champlain uh and Mike Boone to make room for the roster. They have uh released undrafted receiver Monterey Baldwin and placed Madison on intra reserve. Boone 29 has the mo more experience of the two backs. He averaged five yards on 117 carries uh career carries over 72 games. He played for Minnesota, Denver, and Houston and Carolina over his eight-year career. Uh last season, Boone had 12 carries for 59 yards and six games for Carolina. uh Shamplin, I think that’s how you say his name, 25 has only played 28 NFL snaps on an offense in three games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. He had six NFL carries for 17 yards. The Miami Dolphins also uh tried out, let’s say here, um Williams. Let me make sure I give you the actual name, but obviously nothing came of that. uh which I thought was interesting that they tried him out and again I will tell you it is. You probably already commented it below. Um Jamal Williams, they tried him out and they went with two different running backs which I thought is interesting because Jamal Williams is more of a back that could fit into that power back role. But it seems like Ali Gordon Jr., not Junior, the second is going to be that man who’s probably going to get the ball. Uh but right now now the Miami Dolphins have five running backs on the roster when they only had four. So the running back room is getting very thin and it’s worrying me now. It’s becoming one of the areas of the team that is worrying me. So there is your little updates before we get into the title of the video before we get into the meat and bedas of the video. So obviously you see the title of the video. I am asking how will the Miami Dolphins respond to getting punched in the mouth. And you might be saying, when did they get punched in the mouth? That joint practice with the Chicago Bears, they got punched in the mouth on offense. They got physically manhandled on offense. Was it right that they got physically manhandled on offense? No. And you might say, well, what do you mean no? This is before the practice from Ben Johnson. He’s the reporter asked him, “Are you guys going thud only or will there perhaps be some live periods?” And thud only is essentially like you kind of if you’re if you’re running game and obviously if you’ve been to camp or if you’ve seen the clips, you know, if you’re a running back and you hit the hole and like either the linebacker or the defensive lineman kind of like boom like either wraps you up or kind of like bumps you, that’s it. The play’s done. We’re not going to tackle. We’re not going to drag you to the ground. Ben Johnson then says, “No, we’re thud only. we’re not we’re not tackling today. It’s kind of a risky venture in joints. Joints are already competitive enough. So, you’re trying to keep guys productive and stay away from stuff after the whistle. If there is tackling that wasn’t allowed, somebody will be pissed about it. Well, knock. Who’s there? There was a ton of tackling that was not allowed and it w there was no thuds. Um, but it was only their defense versus the Miami Dolphins offense. I’m going to get into the full breakdown because again on the Dolphin Collective I was able to talk with Omar Kelly and Alan Pupart who were at the joint practice and saw it. Alan Pupart was watching the defense and Omar Kelly was watching the offense. And again, if you are No, switch it. No, that was the right way. One or the other. Um, and if you ever been to joint practices, I’ve talked about this at Nauseium, the team split. So you have the Dolphins defense versus their offense on one field and then on another field you have our defense versus their offense. Right? So this is what I found out. Uh it was the the Bears defense was not playing thuds only. Uh we’ve seen video of Devon Aan getting thrown onto the ground. We have seen video of Jaylen Wadd getting thrown to the ground and tackled. Uh, we’ve also heard from Omar Kelly that Tuatong Aloa was hit a few times and even his throwing arm got hit. And again, there’s that fear of getting injured. Um, what else did we hear? That’s most, you know, that’s they were they were they were not abiding to what Ben Johnson said. Now, did Ben Johnson stop it? No, not at all. And then you have this tweet from uh a beat writer for the Chicago Bears saying hopefully the Dolphins beat is okay with the Bears tackling today, meaning for the um preseason game. Kind of a snood little remark being that Ben Johnson literally came out and came to an agreement that thuds only were not going to go aggressive. And again, if you go back and watch the collective, you’ll hear Omar Kelly and Alan Pupart both essentially say, “Yeah, no, they they their defense was, you know, coming after the Dolphins offense, like going for broke and and going for throats and stuff essent, you know, not saying literally. Um, the Dolphins defense on the opposite side had no idea about that and that’s why they didn’t retaliate because you know for a fact if the Dolphins defense knew what their offense was going through, they would have started to do that to their offense and then I bet you Ben Johnson would have been like, “Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Cuz obviously Ben Johnson was watching his offense, not his defense. And um I think somebody in the collective asked like would Mike McDaniel have gone over I think two I think TD asked like would he and you don’t want to be that guy. You don’t want to be that you know guy who’s like hey listen here Mr. Man you shouldn’t be hitting our guys that hard. And that’s why a scuffle did happen. But the funny thing is it happened between two players. And essentially the this is from an article. The argument uh centered around Datson’s play and how Brooks had a higher standard for the six uh for the for the sixth year than he was producing in the joint practice which featured Miami’s defense outshining Chicago’s offense. Datson later produced a sack in 11on11 period of that joint practice. Brooks uh said scuffle was about uh knowing his ability to do everything out there on the football field. I don’t think he’s limited any part of his game. Brook said, “Iron sharpens iron where you’re trying to get the best out of each other.” And like I said, when I found out on Friday that there was a scuffle between two Dolphin players, I was fine with it because Jordan Brooks is doing what he needs to do to toughen up this team, to toughen up this defense. And he has set a higher standard for how they should be playing on that field. and you saw it in the preseason game when uh Dodson made the tackle and Brooks hyped him up for doing his job. Now, that being said, here’s the thing. And am I mad that the um Chicago Bears were a little shady and did things that weren’t agreed upon and the Miami Dolphins got taken advantage of because obviously they weren’t matching the same type of aggressiveness. No, I’m not mad about it. It’s shady. It’s crappy. And the fact that the Bears beat Writer came out and had a snard comment like that, you know, it rubs me the wrong way a little bit. I even retweeted it and I was like, “God forbid, what did I say?” My exact quote was, um, “God forbid you stick to an agreement.” So, that’s, you know, it is what it is. Uh, but here’s my thing and here’s where I wanted to make this video and here’s why um I I’m I’m wondering the response. They need to learn from this. We have constantly talked about how we go up against the Bills, we go up against the Ravens, we go in the cold, we, you know, we go in the playoffs and the Dolphins get punched in the mouth and they kind of take a few steps back and they kind of lose their momentum and everything falls apart. In this joint practice with Chicago, they were playing press coverage and the Miami Dolphins offense was having a hard time making any type of advancement because of these receivers getting pressed after pressed after pressed after pressed and dealing with this physicality. The Dolphins needed this regardless if it was agreed upon or not. Regardless if Ben Johnson said one thing and his defense did the other and then, you know, things happened. Regardless, the Dolphins needed this and we need to see how they respond to this. Now, like I said in the preview for the preseason game, respond to it. And they did. You know, the Dolphins offense marched up and down the field. Uh, you know, the first drive we had to convert a fourth and a third, but we still got all the way down to the goal line. Russell Wilson came Russell Wilson Zack Wilson came in, he did the same thing. So, we showed like, hey, you know, we’re going to do what we’re going to do. That being said, they did not press us in the preseason game, but now you’re going to face a Detroit Lions team on the 13th and 14th uh today. Uh from what I know, it’s just the walkthrough, so it’s probably going to be nothing crazy today. Uh but if you if we get news, I obviously will make a training camp video later today. Um but you’re about to face a Detroit Lions team in joint practice on Wednesday and Thursday that is as if not more physical than that Chicago Bears team. So now, how do you respond to getting punched in the mouth by the Chicago Bear defense? It’s like going into a a a slap boxing whatever. Like if you again, I’m born in the 80s and the ‘9s, you know, slap boxing was a thing and that’s how, you know, we played with each other. Instead of actually beating the crap out of each other, we would slap. That’s like saying, “Hey, we’re going to go into a slap boxing match.” And you get punched in the face. Okay. How are you going to respond to it? You’re heading to Detroit. Actually, they’re in Detroit right now. You’re going to be in Detroit. How are you going to respond now if the Detroit Lions do the same thing? Which again, Omar said this on the collective, and I agree a thousand%. If I’m Mike McDaniel, I’m going up uh to the Lions head coach, and I’m saying for these next two days, I need your corners to press my receivers. I need your corners to be physical with my receivers because they need to learn how to deal with this. They need to learn how to produce in this type of press style defense. I want to see how they produce and how they react to again dealing with a physical defense, possibly having Aiden Hutchkins constantly destroying your tackles, having these guys constantly being in your face, throwing you around, all that stuff. Now, the biggest thing and the biggest my only biggest gripe about last Friday’s practice is god forbid someone got hurt because you said one thing, we were expecting one thing and you started something else. Again, there was from what I heard from our beat writers, there was times that they were hitting Tua. And regardless of how you feel about Tu or anything, there’s a a a forbidden rule that you don’t touch the quarterbacks. Caleb Williams didn’t get touched. We shouldn’t have gotten touched. Plain and simple. And I think it’s funny that, you know, they were doing all the stuff to us, but obviously our team wasn’t playing like that physicality tackle to the ground. First play of Caleb Williams, Jordan Brooks picks him off. Or it was a Terrell Dawson. One of the linebackers picks him off. I think it was Jordan Brooks. It’s like, okay, you’re playing that physical game. Well, we still beat you. We still beat you with our defense, playing smart, not crossing the line, and we picked you off. But anyway, um, how are they going to respond? How are they going to respond in Detroit? Because you, it’s another team. And again, if I’m McDaniel, I’m saying to Dan Campbell, press us. Be physical. I need to see how these guys are going to respond to this physicality again. Are they going to push back? Are they going to fight harder? Because this is the this is one of the stigmas that the Miami Dolphins have to get over. You’re a weak team. You don’t play well in the cold. you can’t play well against, you know, winning teams, all of this stuff. Now is the time to work on it. Now is the time to have these teams, okay? You know, Ben Johnson, you agreed to something and you and you your defense backed off on it. All right, now we’re prepared. Let’s see what Detroit does. And I’m hoping in the next two days I find out, wow, the Dolphins offense is playing a little bit more physical after Chicago and they’re re realizing um this needs to be done. I’m hoping that Steeler and Jordan Brooks and and and all of the the captains on the offense, whether it’s Brewer who or it’s Tua, like I hope it’s Tua saying we got punched in the mouth on Friday. We need to come back and start punching people first before we get hit. like that. This is something that these captains on this team need to bring the team together in the locker room and say we can’t be those chumps because it’s not like it was a a thing that stayed in between Chicago and Miami and it was stayed in this this little market. It was a nationally televised thing. Not televised, but everyone knows everyone talked about Miami just got punked on offense in Chicago. Now, our defense didn’t get punked. our defense actually punked their offense. But again, that narrative of the Dolphins are weak was just put out nationally. Got to respond because again, if you go, I’ll say for the 400th time you go into Detroit, Detroit punches you in the mouth and you don’t hit back, not a good look. It’s not a good look at all. So, you know, that’s why, you know, I I was heard everything that Omar and Allen was saying. And I was taking my notes and I was listening and I’m thinking to myself, they got to respond. And then even Omar said and TD said like they they were all all of us were in agreement like the Dolphins needed this. How are they going to respond? And that is the biggest question because how they respond is kind of how the trajectory of the season’s going to go cuz week three you face the Buffalo Bills who constantly punch us in the mouth. Week two you are facing the New England Patriots. Now, what New England Patriot is it? Because obviously every time we face Mike Vrabel, we get punched in the mouth. So, this is this is going to dictate it. And then we got the Jets. So, a lot of things are in play. A lot of things are are getting very interesting. So, it’s going to be interesting to see how these next couple days go, how this preseason game on Saturday goes. So, comment below. Let me know what you guys think. Again, to everyone who ordered merch. Please let me know as soon as you get it, so I know you got it. I will let you know as soon as I get mine. I am still fighting for everyone to get their stuff. I again apologize from the bottom of my heart that we’re all dealing with this. I am not using Teespring anymore. I think I’m going to remove them from below. So, you know, no one else buys merch by them by accident. Uh and again, if you know any good merch uh websites or anything that are reliable and good, comment them below. I will see you tomorrow or later today. If we get news about the walkthrough today, I will make a video. But if not, I will talk to you guys tomorrow with the first joint practice with the Detroit Lions. But usual, stay classy. Fans out.

  1. From Alain on Twitter: Whoa! Check out these comments from Lions LB Grant Stuard about facing the Dolphins in joint practices, courtesy of Detroit Lions On SI and my man, Doc: “I don’t know if they’re ready, I’m gonna keep it a stack. I’ve played at other places and played against that team last year, and joint practiced against that team twice when I was in Tampa. I don’t know if they practice how we practice. I’m excited to see our guys for sure, and I’m excited to get out there and do something against somebody else, who doesn’t know every in and out of what we’re doing.”

This is exactly what I'm talking about! How ya gonna respond?!

  2. Its TOO LATE to respond. You respond to the team that dis'd you, not their brother in the same division. McDaniel and Tua got it wrong. Tua shoulda called a time out, pulled his big guys to the side and TOLD them not ask, 'OK guys, bust some heads' after the 1st incident.

  3. I know they need the practice against press but could you imagine the FIT Tyreek would throw if they did press in practice and one of our (sorry they really are) sub par corners lock him up and he can't do shit for a practice? "Is Tyreek on the trading black!?" would be RIGHT BACK on the front page.

  4. We came back and punched them in the mouth. To bad we have a 3rd string QB that lost us the game! Sewers ain't the answer!! At any level.

  5. The bears backup QBs will be starting on either their team or another before the season is done. Caleb ain't that dude! Just like ewers ain't him!!

  6. Where is the Dolphins OC in all of this??? I think the OC should have gotten his Guys together & Tell the O-Line, TEs to start Pancaking the Bears Defense when Blocking. In other word, if they're Not holding back We are Not Holding Back.

  7. I do a lot of boxing. I have had sparring sessions where the other guy asked we go light and we both agreed on it only for them to start throwing as hard as they could while i tried proding lightly. Full contact sports are called that for a reason, you're going to get hit no matter what the othwr person promises. Sounds dirty but that's what it is.

  8. Why didn't the dolphin offense respond to them being creamed ???? Why the he'll do we make up this nonsense that if the defense that was on the other side of the field knew what was going on ,they would hVe done the same??? You mean our offense just laid back and took the abuse??? What a joke. .No wonder this team is labeled soft

  9. Doug, there's a difference between punching back and taking cheap shots. Tackling was not the rule. Cheap shots were not the rule. Establish the rules. If Detroit breaks the rules then Miami should respond by taking cheap shots against Detroit's Defense including "chop blocks" and "Crack Back Blocks". Hey, someone gets put on season ending IR, that's just the way it is.

  10. That really sucks for Madison I pray he makes a full recovery. I feel so bad for him. I know his family is in tears right now. That has gotta be a very hard hit for that family.
Let's all hope and pray that he makes a recovery and he can continue his career. He may not be a Ladenian Tomlinson, but he is still a human being, with a passion for football.
