REKAP: ⚾️ Chicago Cubs 5-1 loss to Toronto Blue Jays. ‘It’s enough to make you want to puke!’

Welcome into the recap of the Cubs 5 to1 loss. A nauseating loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Tuesday evening. I’m David Kaplan. It’s brought to you by our great partners at Winrust. They are the exclusive home of Cubs Checking. Click the QR code on your screen or winterest.com/cubs to get your very own Cubs checking account. That was an absolutely disgusting offensive performance. No other way around it. You had two innings with the bases loaded. One of them you had the top of the order coming up. You’ve already scored a run. You’ve got their reliever on the ropes. And you do absolutely nothing. nothing with the heart of your order. Enough to make you want to puke watching this game tonight. Uh first inning, Alejandro Kirk got a base hit. One- nothing Blue Jays. And at that point, I went, “Okay, we are absolutely in trouble.” Tell me you didn’t feel the same way the way this offense looks. In the fourth, Javier Assad still in Ernie Clement three-run jack. It is a four nothing game. And at that juncture, I went, “Okay, now it’s over.” But the Cubs would threaten. They had the bases loaded once, couldn’t come through. They had men on. Nico her grounds out. But in the seventh inning, they had their shot. They had an opportunity to get right back in the ball game. Tommy Nance is in uh in relief. He walks Danby Swanson. Willie Castro pinch hits for Matt Shaw. He gets a base hit to right. Swanson all the way over to third. Michael Bush a base hit to center. Castro to second. Dansby scores. It’s a 4-1 game and you got first at second. Nobody out. Sea Suzuki with one of the most pathetic at bats I’ve watched from him in a long, long time. I thought Jav Bayz in his worst days was back. You couldn’t have hit that with a flipping bodor. He’s out. Kyle Tucker, little infield dribbler. You cannot tell me this dude’s healthy. You cannot. There’s no way that he is healthy because he just looks completely inept. Then he whipped his helmet into the dugout. I appreciate the passion. I’d much prefer a big hit in a big spot. And if you’re not healthy, that don’t play. And I have another question. We couldn’t trade Owen Casey at the deadline because the Cubs were unwilling to put him in a deal. He’s an untradable player. Then why isn’t he up here? Ian Hap looks lost at the plate. Tucker looks lost at the plate. PCA right now looks lost at the plate. Why could we not bring him up? Tell me. Explain that one to me. And Moises Bisteros, you let him take a big at bat in Milwaukee with the bases loaded. He got a bases clearing double. Why is he still in Iowa? Because everyone on the team is so redot that we can’t find a spot for this dude. Absolutely ludicrous. So, let’s continue with the seventh. Sea with an awful strikeout. T Kyle Tucker with the dribbler to the third baseman. Uh, he gets the out. Carson Kelly walks. Base is loaded. Here’s PCA. And for those of you out there, they shouldn’t have pinch hit him the other night. They shouldn’t have pinch hit for him. Yeah. Okay. So, they left him in this time. You know what he did? Struck out on a breaking ball that ended up in the other batters box. Yeah, that’s exactly right. He is scuffling big time. I believe he’s 3 for 37 this month. Three for 37. That’s why you get pinch hit for. Oh, and by the way, the other night he also got picked off second base. These mistakes have got to stop. Picked off a second. I saw Tucker two nights ago miss a cut off. Man, it’s it’s all this stuff that’s got to get cleaned up. And while I put the blame on the players, Craig Council’s got to clean that up, too. Guys getting picked off, guys getting thrown out at the plate. Kyle Tucker missing a cut off man. All that stuff has got to get cleaned up and that falls at the feet of the manager. But again, the underperformance offensively that is on the players. They have got to be better. Uh Dalton Bartow got a home run in the eighth. There’s the final margin of victory. Uh our recap’s also brought to you by our great partners at Tasty Trade Stocks, futures, options, crypto. Tasty Trade is the platform for you. You see them all around Wrigley Field. Let me give you the pitching tonight cuz it wasn’t good at the start, but Ben Brown was outstanding tonight. Here’s our Hooters wing at starting pitching matchup. Assad, four innings, eight hits, four runs all earned, two Ks, a walk, and a home run. Ben Brown, four innings, four hits, one run. Uh, no Ks, but one walk and the one home run to Dalton Vario. For the Blue Jays, Jose Bereio five and a third of two hit, no run, 3K, four-w walk baseball. Then they use their bullpen collection relievers to shut down the Chicago Cubs. Player of the game, I got to give it to Ernie Clement. He hit the three-run home run that effectively ended the Cubs night early this evening. Three-run bomb made it 4 nothing. Finally, our look ahead brought to you by the wonderful people at Studio 41 Home Remodeling Showroom. They’ve got 13 locations, folks. This beautiful kitchen right here. They did it. Go to studio41.com. Tomorrow night, 607 first pitch. Get a good night’s sleep in Canada. Wake up, grab a cup of coffee, and find a way to win a freaking baseball game. You look inept offensively. You face Kevin Gosman tomorrow night, but you got Kate Horton going, who’s been nothing short of outstanding over the last couple months plus. So, find a way to score some freaking runs. That’s the look ahead. Cubs lose tonight. They get their head kicked in 5-1. You know why it’s a head kicking in? Because they couldn’t hit their way out of a wet paper bag. Take that.

The Chicago Cubs enter a critical stretch with 8 of their next 11 games against the Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers, two of MLB’s hottest teams. And, to say they’re scuffling is an understatement. The Cubs showed their lackluster offense yet again, leaving multiple bases loaded opportunities throughout the game. Kyle Tucker looks injured, PCA has lost himself and Seiya Suzuki has had absolutely horrific at-bats of late. Not just that, some of the fundamentals have been off of late, too and Kap calls out manager Craig Counsell for that and says there’s no doubt that falls at the feet of the manager. The Milwaukee Brewers blew out the Pirates and are now up 7.5 games in the NL Central, which looks all but wrapped up a this point. The Cubs will likely end up a Wild Card team, but there’s no one outside of the clubhouse that feels they’ll be anything more than that.

Take That!

  1. The Cubs are running out of gas. Around this time is when the real ball players turn it up. The pretenders swing n miss.

The whole clubhouse reeks of defeat already. And it stems from all the way to the top. They let this one slip through their fingers again.

40+ games left. ?? If they haven't turned it around by now. What makes you think all of a sudden 🤔 everything just going to click??

Management already stated they are worried about the 2036 Cubs. Not this year.. sorry.

But the Cubs just "Kap ed" off the season already with no push till the End!. A wasted season……

Btw I love you Whit Sox Backsplash.. its nice.

  2. Hoyer is a joke! He couldn’t trade any of the good prospects at Iowa but with the team struggling to hit he won’t bring them up. Put Tuck on the IL DFA McGuire and call up Ballesteros & Caissie? It makes no sense. This team needs a damn spark. Why is Hoyer so reluctant to bring the 2 kids up? Kap, get hold of Hoyer, find out pl.

  3. We have been watching this same group play inept offensive baseball for 3 years now. And they look as bad as the last group at the end. You know what that tells me? Whomever you got scouting, designing, training, and scheming the offense HAS TO GO. Same stuff with the WS core; same stuff the last few years here. Whatever they're doing as an institution, it ain't working offensively. And doing it on repeat just gets you the same results… but then again, a contending team that might eek its way into a WC still keeps the seats full for Tom.

  4. Ever since the Jed Hoyer extension what has happened? I mean we were breaking down before then but we were tied in the division at least, we blink and we're down 7.5 before the 5 game series that was allegedly gonna decide the division. It's enough of a train wreck on the field all the fans have collective whiplash

  5. What did I say?? Hahahahhha.

Them cubbies are faltering boy them cubbies are losing. 😂😂😂

Pretty soon old kap is going to make some crazy videos and I love it.

Telling you right now then Cubs are going to lose this season they are going to collapse and it's already begun.

It's going to be bittersweet when the Cardinals take your place. I know we lost to the Rockies tonight but every ball hit by the Cardinals tonight was hit really hard and unfortunately at somebody.

The balls hit out of the infield with the most exit velocity were hit by the birds.

Get ready. It's going to be brutal.
The Cubs are going to falter and just completely collapsed.

    Love you guys. 😂😂😂😂

  6. "it's enough to make you want to puke there huh kap? 😂😂😂

What did I tell you would happened?

You didn't lose two out of three to the Cardinals for no reason. The Cubs are faltering .

Like they do damn near every year and I look forward to these videos where this guy is just unhinged LOL.

I'm telling you the Cubs are going to lose the season and they are going to end the season below 500.

My prediction is already coming true. It's already begun.

    I don't care I love it LOL. 😂😂😂😂

  7. THE SEASON IS OVER!!!!!!!!! The bats have gone cold!!!!!!! Which I told everyone that was gonna happen. I don't want them in the playoffs they are gonna get swept in any series that they are in.

  8. Kap, I couldn't have said it better myself. Cassie and Ballesteros need to be called up ASAP to help light a fire under these bums. In fact, if Suzuki, PCA, Happ, Busch and Tucker
had any pride, they would donate their paychecks to charity until they start hitting again.

  9. It's over. They know they're going to fall out of the wildcard race and that the offseason will bring a ton of changes– probably a full one-third of the roster will be turned over, including a number of starters. So the players figure why bust your hump?

  10. Great point, Kap, about Ballesteros being good enough to pinch hit against Milwaukee, with the bases loaded, (and delivering) but he's not good enough to be brought up from Iowa, to replace an entire outfield and your DH who are struggling mightily!?
    Bring up Cassie and Ballesteros!!

  11. Would it had not been better to use Assad out of the bullpen for at least a game or two, instead of starting right away, after missing so many games?

  12. Sorry, as a loyal fan of 72 + seasons I am here to announce that the Cubs have tied a ML record of going from 6.5 games in front to 7 behind in the shortest amount of time since 1900. Let's shift our support to the Bears. Bears start in first place.

  13. This team can't do it. We're going to suffer horribly and wait for the September call-ups. It will be too little too late ( if any help at all)! Ya know, I could only go about 2weeks with this offense before I made some major moves. Council is lame. Anyone can manage when the team hits like they did in the first half. Shake things up! What are you waiting for? Well, we've lost the chance to win the division. How long before we can't make the playoffs?

  14. I can’t stand hoyer and rickets cheap bastards mlb jobbed the cubs denounce Cuban to be owner of cubs instead they this trash ass rickets he needs to sell this team

  15. Expecting anything out of Javier is a fool's errand

Batting Carson Kelly cleanup in your slow pitch softball league would be a mistake

But keep paying managers and not good players
