Ranking Judge over Ohtani is why no one takes ESPN seriously anymore, too much NY/east coast bias. Would love to see what Judge looks like on the mound, and anyone think if Judge was a pitcher that he could put up similar power numbers?

  1. They’re a lot closer than you’re making it out to be, not that ridiculous to have Judge ahead of Ohtani right now

  2. I mean… I get what you’re saying but at the same time, he’s pitched a whopping 19 innings this season.

This link is to the 2025 season rankings. So you can’t really be like “oh Ohtani pitches as well” when for the majority of the season he hasn’t.

When we are talking hitting, I think this season Judge has the edge but it is close.

I don’t see how putting one over the other is any sort of bias. A case can be made either way.

  3. I enjoy criticizing espn as much as the next person, but Ohtani is not better than Judge as a hitter, although they’re damn close.

When Ohtani is pitching 130-150 innings as an ace and hitting like he is now, he’s a freak of nature. When he’s not pitching, Judge is unquestionably his equal and the numbers suggest slightly better.

  4. I feel like people here don’t really comprehend how good of a hitter Judge has been over the last few years. We aren’t simply talking best hitter in baseball, we are talking “no Cardinal has ever hit this well in any season”. Judge is hitting .311/.436/.678/1.114 over the last 4 seasons. That’s Ruthian. It’s Pujols’ best season over a 4 year stretch. Ohtani is an awesome hitter, but he’s not really in Judge’s conversation.
