I recently saw this jersey for sale and was wondering if it’s authentic. I’ve seen houston grey, script black, tequila sunrise, etc. but i’ve never seen black with astros on the front.

  1. It looks like the astros blue and gold from the late dome era in the 90s. I dont know if this specifc design was used on field but thats the era it is.

They weren’t black, though, more of a deep navy. Near black but not.

  2. Astros wore BP jerseys similar to this in the mid-90s. Later versions had just the star.

This appears to be a retail version since it is full button. To my knowledge, all on field versions were just 2 buttons.

  3. 1994, had this jersey design, it looks darker than the real jersey. And it doesn’t have the 125th anniversary patch on the right sleeve.

  4. I have one just like it with an Astrodome 30th anniversary patch my parents bought when it was new. The patch is exactly the same as yours but has ‘65 and ‘95 on either side of “30th Anniversary” below it. If it isn’t black, it’s incredibly dark blue (I’m pretty terrible at colors)

  5. I’ve saw a black alternate one at the MLB Store at the Avenue of Americas in NY, but it only had the star, without Astros cross the front. I didn’t realize how many varieties of alternates there are until I went down into the basement level of the store.

  6. It’s definitely a 1994 alternate. Doesn’t have the MLB 125th anniversary patch so it could be a retail authentic (There’s one on Ebay atm that only has the Astrodome patch). If it and the autograph are all legitimate then it’s a helluva find.

  7. I have that same jersey, but mine didn’t have the Astrodome patch when I bought it. However, I did buy the patch at the team store and had it sewed on.
