For me, my Major League Baseball play of the day is on absolute fire. The Brewers cashed on Wednesday, making it 10 wins in a row with that pickoff play. Start making you some money with this matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. For the Nationals, it’s Brad Lord listed as the starter here. While the Phillies will counter with Jesus Lazardo and Lazardo’s been rock solid in his last few starts. I mean, he did have that rough outing coming out of the All-Star break. give up six runs, five walks, and gave up two hits in a home run over five innings against the Red Sox. But since then, a combined 19 innings of work, four runs allowed, 14 hits, but you know, 15 strikeouts, just two walks, pitching very well. And you go up against a Nationals lineup that in the last two weeks basically in the uh in the month of August against left-handed pitching, they’ve really not been anything to write home about. I mean, the team OPS numbers, you know, bottom 10 in baseball, the batting average is at 227, not very good. Strikeout rate at 24%. So, I think that, you know, the uh the Nationals could struggle here against Lazardo. Now, you look on the other side, Brad Lord has actually been, you know, fairly decent in some of his recent outings. I mean, since returning to the fold for the uh for the Nationals in this starting rotation, you know, he’s had four starts in that stretch. And in that run, a 2.70 erra. A lot of his, you know, appearances have been in relief roles this season. He’s only made 10 starts, but like I said, since the All-Star break, four starts and a 2.70 RA, a 230 opponent’s batting average, but this is still a Phillies lineup that is really doing some damage against right-handed pitching. It’s in the month of August. The Phillies fourth best in baseball in team OPS against righties. The batting average is solid. The isolated power numbers is third best in baseball. And the difference for me is that while the Phillies bullpen at times this season has been problematic, they actually have the second best bullpen erra in the month of August so far with a 1.48 RA. But the Nationals, their bullpen issues continue to plague this team on the opposite end of the spectrum, a 7.89 ERA out of the bullpen for the Washington Nationals in the month of August. So for me, you know, you can take the uh the Phillies in the first five. He didn’t have to want to worry about their bullpen, but I do think Philly’s bullpen can do enough to hold it down and basically have the uh the Phillies win this one on the run line. So give me the Phillies laying the one and a half runs and that’s going to be my free pick.
