Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | August 14, 2025 MLB Season
It was a sizzler in DC today. Then the weather came in. Big time rain for a while. It cooled things off. And there are changes in the breeze here in DC tonight as the Nats open up a home series against those Phillies who are here in town for the next four days. Down low in the zone, elevate late to get those strikeouts, some swing and miss, and soft contact. Here you go. So going to be right on time on ladies night here at the yard. 645 first pitch and Trey Turner swings right through it. That’s a funny looking Q shot. Paul De Young is doing his thing at shortstop tonight. That was kind of a strange ground ball time. Correct. That’s kind of the way it’s gone. Oh, look at that. A little off speed. Straight down it went. Red Lord RBI number, pardon me, strikeout number 71. Pretty good jamage right there. Should be easy for D Young over to Tina. And that’s it for the Phils in the top of the first. That’s a big sweep and strikeout 152. This a towering one out to short left center. On the move, Brandon Marsh. He’s on the move now on a pitch up. Romo not able to get much of anything going with that big swing by D Young and that’s a nasty breaking ball for his second strikeout. Numbers 152 and three. Each team gets a single throws and 12 strikes and a good job of slowing down a guy’s bat on that can of corn out to center. Jacob Young kind of cruising to it. Sorber three for 27 and Al Castanos has won for his last 22. Easier way into the game. Try to have a feel for everything, but I think it’s made his stuff even better. It’s a great job of getting in the Sosa kitchen right there. You see a catcher? I don’t see a catcher. Develop them and see what they have here. Huge opportunity for Mike Darlo and company. And now for Luzardo, three consecutive strikeouts and the Phillies picked him up in a trade multiplayer deal last December 22nd. He is on fire. Oh, look at that. We’ve seen a couple of those lately against the Nets and for the Nets. And stop will spin one right down the left field line. Did a short first time. And this one’s trouble. Somebody’s got to come and get it to Young Will. And soon as that ball hit the turf for the second time, Trey Turner was safe no matter what anybody did as a rule. How about the strikeout though? That does happen a lot and that’s number 147 with out to short and they do well to get one. Paula Young had to go way to his right and a couple of them lefties and Jose lunging for that one. Easy for Stock. They put his name up there like he’s warming up. Yeah. Try to get Jesus Lazardo get mad. Maybe like what are you what are you doing? Throw him off his game. Like I’m hot right now. And this one high in the air with some carry out toward the gap for Costanos. That’ll do it for the Nats in the third after a two out base hit by James Wood. One- nothing Phills. They’ve done really well against the West from and an inter league play. This one’s going to turn around a Lyle. Had him reaching. Somebody hollered, “Get over.” But Josh Bell takes care of himself. Two San Francisco to pitch to here. Back-to-back games slightly different. Paul D. Young’s got it. Zack Wheeler. This one high in the air from Paul D. Young to left. Hanging up there a long time. See you later. Label on that one. Adams will pop it up right side. Harper on the way. Had to get around the base runner a bit in foul ground. And Lyall will put one in the air out to right center. Marsh just kind of stepping over to it and that’s it for the Nats creatures up here, don’t we? In the summer. Runner on the move. That’s a bullet. And it’s not that close. It’s second as Riley Adams throws out his 13th runner of the year. Phillies are taking a look here. And Scott, pretty good contact. It’s going to move Dalen Lyle toward the track. They got to see flashes of it. There’s a ball flashing out to the gap. It’s going to hit the wall and stay in. And now with Jacob Young dropping the ball that would enable Turner to score from first and he might have anyway. And the Phillies have retaken the lead. And this one to the right of second base on the move. Jana plays it well. Leadoff walk stealing but then Turner and Schwarber Yeah, try to get in in there. No big deal. Number six. All the positive thoughts. Oh, this by the mound. Races on and plays it well. Two down. Out to short and Ter counted on that blast. Little hop. Little in between and played it well. After five, two-1 Philills. Only three by the Nets. This one to right. It’s hanging up a bit. And here comes Dylan Cruz. Just enough to get there with a great jump in. I said you’re going to get back in so and so weeks. But the people in the know, they don’t say that. Oh, Josh Bell. Happy birthday. Look what I found. Great reaction by him. He’s already stolen one base tonight. Josh Bell. Little tapper. There is a play at second and that’s really good by Lousardo. That’s going to get the Phillies the 143 double play. Old slider there. Non-competitive. Good pitch there. Backing up to Young takes it on a hop. Knew he had time to throw. Took Sosa while the strike out on the foul tip or that nasty breaking ball. Some kind of performance by the lefty. Time to stretch. One- run game. Two left-handers on the bench right now with CJ and Riley Adams to the gap in left center. It’s going to plant itself at the bottom of the wall. D Young to third. Riley into second putting a charge into his seventh double. Bases loaded. Another calm veteran type at bat. That’s a base hit to left center. D Young scores. Here comes Adams. The Nets are on top for the first time tonight. Riley trying to get around Trey Turner. He’s assuming that he was going to be held up there at third base cuz he could not create an angle because of where Trey was. What a hit. 6%. That’s a big number. Well, I guess it’s strike three. Didn’t get a demonstrative call from Emil Himenez. One and two and a bouncer. Garcia to his right. Ball found him. One out. And another short stop. Bald Young right where he’s been all night long. They finally hit one hard enough at him. One-two pitch. Got him. What a pitch. Jose a Verer like his teammates owning the late innings. Strike three call on the front door. And Paul D. Young first pitch swinging this one out to short right. A long way for Castanos. He ends up a lot closer to second base than where he originally started. And then in the dirt, Mutoo able to handle it. It’ll require a throw and the Nats are gone. Top nine coming up too, but it’s hit by pitches at 10 into right. And Ellen Cruz read it for a moment. Tried to get in. Gets where he wants him. Ball’s on the ground. Staying fair. Henry boy bare hand play and just in time to get Sosa tying run to second on the first out play. Breaking ball Josh Bell using that big body to keep it out of the right field corner. Two down. Breaking ball. A beauty. on quiet this nasty diving in swing and a miss. The Nets will come from behind late and hold on to beat the Phillies 3-2. Lad it up, baby.
