[Perrotto] Why the Pirates Lose and the Brewers Win

Even though we swept them last month
That’s a dumb article.
Yes, the brewers are way more successful. However, this doesn’t begin to explain why. Oh the brewers owner is committed to getting better? Cool, but the talking points are really no different than what you hear from the pirates. Arnold (who has an analytics background) is somehow LESS analytically inclined than BC? And this is…good? The brewers like their manager? Ok, but isn’t Donnie Kelly almost like famously liked by everyone and a baseball lifer himself?
Ultimately, it’s pretty simple. The brewers, despite being in a small market, spend more than we do. As a result, they generally have better players.
Perotto is such a lazy writer. Absolutely nothing of substance in this article
The Brewers don’t have three guys in their lineup batting under 200. Also… Nutting. The other 99.9% is Nutting.
It’s (a) signing amateur players; and, (b) turning them into good major leaguers. Aside from two pulses in the late 80s and around 2010, the farm system has been deficient for 45 years. That’s the key, and the only key.
I could be wrong, but I think that if they got together a decent homegrown core, you would see them supplement with signings like Martin and Barmes, Liriano and Nova. It’s just been a decade since they got a decent core together.

There. Saved you a click.
I love how “reporters” and those with “inside knowledge” keep making videos and writing articles about this. Here, I’ll save them time.
BECAUSE THE PIRATES DON’T EVEN TRY TO WIN!!!!
It’s not some crazy deep thing. They have an owner who doesn’t invest a cent into this team, and he fills the roster with clearance rack players and broken prospects.
That was a crappy piece of writing. Not a single bit of insight
The brewers won because they scored more runs than the pirates. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
