Phillies vs. Nationals Game Highlights (8/14/25) | MLB Highlights
Here’s brad Lord’s numbers. It’s his 11 start. He’s three and six with a 3.28 R A at least have a tough test. They’ve been struggling a little bit, especially early in games against starters lately. That’s a funny looking cue shot. Paul De Young is doing his thing at shortstop tonight. That was kind of a strange ground ball. Second in the league in Homers and RBIs to Otani and Alonso. Look at that a little off speed straight down and went red Lord RB I number. Pardon me? Strikeout number 70 one. Bry is unveiling the player weekend bat a little early boy. That is red hot. Yeah, it is. He had like three or four of them today. So many of them are so cool. Line drive base hit it to left center field and there is the 1st 1st inning hit for the Phillies since last Friday night in Texas. It’s a two out single for Harper and that’ll put a man on for JT Rutto swinging a slow ground ball to short to Young. Has it the shovel to Tana at second and the inning is over the Nationals coming at bat. Against left hander Jesus Loo. Now, 27 years of age, born in Lima Peru makes his home in Parkland Florida drafted in the third round 2016 by the nationals swing and a miss one away. Here in the first, there’s a strike out for Luzardo. He had 11 of them the last time he pitched here, it brings Dylan Cruz up. He’s off the injured list for the first time. He was on the 60 day. I, he had an injury swinging a ground ball hit sharply off the club of the diving turner to his left and out in the center field for Dylan Cruz and Dylan Cruz. Welcome back young man. That’ll be another step to getting that batting average off the interstate. Josh Bell is the hitter and with Lowe being D fa today, Bell will start playing a little bit more. First base. He’s been ding a lot at a high pop up out to left center field. Not that deep coming in is Marsh and he makes the catch. The veteran. Paul De Young is the batter. He’s on the move now on a pitch up, not able to get much of anything going with that big swing by Deo. So Dillon passing one test after another here early swing and a miss, he got him and a pair of strikeouts for Jesus Luzardo here in the first no runs, a hit. The man left Adams hit seven home runs, six doubles, 13 extra base hits out of his 32 hits swing of the Miss. He just powered that one at 97 miles an hour third strikeout. They like this kid, he’s hit in five straight games and 12 of 13 and a swing and a Miss balls in the dirt. JT will pick it up and toss down to first and complete the strikeout already. The fourth for Luzardo among the first six hitters tonight. I did tell Jesus, I said you’re going to throw a no hitter tonight and he just laughed and he’s giving up a hit right now, but he’s got good stuff working at this point. Swing and a Miss and Jesus Lizardo, speaking of fast, makes quick work of the nationals striking out the side. 123 go. The nets. Bryson ST is kicking it off a little earlier. Our buddy ryan Stevens from next level customs made these beauties in honor of Braxton ST. They’ve got Elmo on the front of it and that one is over the third base bag. A little luck of Elmo and will get to second base with a stand up double. Doesn’t matter how it happens, Tom just that it does. And Phillies work to get that runner home and get the early lead. The pitch swinging a dribbler left in the mound going to be a tough play. Nobody’s going to get it. And that’s going to be an infield hit for Trey Turner. And while the Phillies aren’t knocking the cover off the ball as yet. They’ve got a couple of hits, runners on the corners and nobody out. This is not the situation you want. Look, this guy up, pick two harder left handers to deal with in this situation. Swing and a miss change up. Got him. Schwarber has now really started to struggle for an extended stretch on this road trip. He is three for 25 more to get Bryce Harper comes to the plate. Harper singled. That’s a beautiful bat. Let’s hope it produces a beautiful run, swinging a ground ball to short back and young young, he’ll go to second with it. That’s all they’re going to get. And the score is Bryson Harper picks up the RB I It’s one to nothing. Phillies, Jt Fielder’s choice his first time to the plate. There’s a swing and a pop up right side. Foul territory under it is Bell and Josh Bell will squeeze it in front of his own dugout. The Phillies scratch out a run with all that weak contact. Couple of hits. I don’t know what happened during the President’s race. I’m not sure what the, what the theme was. I don’t know what the theme was. I think it’s Ladies night. That might have something to do with it. Ladies night. Well, it is ladies night. Yes, but I don’t know. I just don’t know why the man dressed up as a lady was banging on presidents. He’s knocking him out with a chair. Well, George has won 18 times now as he skipped across the finish line there. Lazard came into this ballgame eighth in the national league in strikeouts. He’s already picked up five tonight. Think about Lazard is that he’s exceeded his inning total from last year just because he was banged up last season. There’s one high in the air from Paul Dejo to left hanging up there a long time. See you later. That’s his third homer in his last five games and the NATS are back even here in the fourth Lazzaro has been firing that fastball and getting ahead early on a lot of guys and he decided , you know what, I’m going to jump all over this 11 out here bases clear and the 22 on the way to Adams, he swings and pops it up. First base foul ground coming down is Harper and Harper makes the catch. JT backed away at the last moment and give Harper a little bit of credit a lot going on there, including the batter runner nearly running into him in foul territory. The one pitch swung on, hit in the air. It’s pretty deep center, but it’ll be caught as Brandon Marsh out there to make the catch a little shy of the warning track , fly ball out for out. Number three here at the top of inning number five and the top of the owner and Trey Turner bounce to short leading off the game. And Then that dribbler to the third base side of the mound for a base hit that shattered and it’s off the netting into the Phillies dugout, but it’s a base hit for Trey Turner. Everybody that duck will take it. Trey breaks another bat but he’s got a hit to show for this one and the barrel of the bat hit the netting above the Phillies dugout, fell back down into the dugout. You really like to see the Phils give a starter a little bit of leeway, not the easiest thing to throw. Zeros up there doesn’t matter. You know, this is the major leagues, no matter what kind of offense you’re pitching against , fly ball out to right center field on the run is young out to the wall. It’s off the Geico side, rounding third heading for home turner. It’s bobbled by. It will be an RB I double for Schwarber. It’s a 21 game but Schwarber picks up his 98 run back at him of the season and the pitch swinging a ground ball the other way eats up Brady House is that ball took a quick hop on him. He was drawn in and it gets by him moving to his left and Marsh is aboard. Here’s Casto who’s over two. This one to right, it’s hanging up a bit and here comes Dylan Cruz just enough to get there with a great jump in Dylan Cruz. First chance in right is a diving catch to Rob Castano. So the base hit so two outs and it brings Max Kepler to the plate. Kepler hits a ground ball and Josh Bell down her knee scoops to his backhand rolls over and steps on the base for the out. Josh Bell with a fine play on a smash right to of Jesus Lizardo has been outstanding tonight. They carving him up 73 pitches with the count zero and two to the leadoff batter James Wood. He’s got 16 of 19 1st pitch strikes swing and a miss seven strikeouts six in a row. Cruz in his return to the lineup. One for two tonight, also picked up the stolen base who just missed. Yeah. First walk by Luzardo and a slow bouncer toward the mound. Luzardo to second for one over to first in time. One for three, had a slow runner and a strong throw. What a great play there by Jesus Luzardo to start a 143 double play. By the way, he’s walked to the last three hitters. It’s interesting too because you got two left handers on the bench right now. CJ A Adam in left center, it’s going to plant itself at the bottom of the wall to young to third rightly into second, putting a charge into his seventh, double, 2nd and 3rd. Nobody out. This is where Lazzaro’s got to calm it down a little bit just trying to slow it down. It’s tough with that pitch count Roland up high ball for that’s going to load them up and the first three hitters are aboard here to start the seventh inning and that is going to do it for Jesus Luzardo. He pitches into the seventh, unable to record an out here in the seventh inning. Right hander or ryan Kirk is on in relief. He’s going, going to inherit three base runners. Here is the bases are loaded and there’s nobody out popped up out to shallow left field going out of Sousa. Still backpedaling. He’s under, it makes the catch and there is a big first out for o’ryan Kirk as he tries to wriggle out of this jam. That’s a base hit to left center to young scores. Here comes, Adams are on top for the first time tonight and by playing the infield in the Phillies pay for the decision is Tana slaps it by Trey Turner. He drives home to and it’s 3 to 2. Washington going for his first career save at any professional level. Cole Henry, here’s a swing and a line drive in right field coming on, Cruz. He’ll have to play it on a bounce and the Phillies with some fans in attendance here in the ninth inning, Washington get their leadoff man on here’s Sousa and the Nats looking to turn two on the infield. He bunts it toward first. Oh, nobody’s there to field it. It’s picked up by Henry low throw, handled by Bell and the sacrifice is successful. All right. So now it’s ST with a runner at second base. The tying run ground ball over to first Bell smothers it and will take it to the bag over to third is Kepler. Well, Trey Turner has three hits tonight. Tying run is 90 ft away. It will take a hit by Turner as the Phillies try to get this game tied up. Miss Paul Henry gets the save. It’s the first of his career and the Nationals give the Phillies their third straight defeat a 32 final today in Washington.
