  1. I feel dead inside and the only thing that can restore my will to live is an 8 game winning streak that starts today!

  2. Players weekend and I’m kind of excited to see what MacGuire puts for his name on the jersey. I’d love for him to put something like “Car Jacker” just so Boog and JD have to awkwardly figure out how to explain it

  3. Counsell continually showing he has no idea how to manage the human side of a team. Yes I get the lineup order doesn’t matter as much as people believe but batting Happ in cleanup and not moving more people around dramatically to shake things up is idiotic. He continues to say we have a good offense but the decline month over month says otherwise.

  4. maybe this series is just what the bats need to wake up. Both Pirate pitchers saturday and sunday have below average FIP so praying its a homerun show and the boys get some swagger back.

If they cant this team is dead and there is no real hope.

  5. Get right series against the Pirates with their most dangerous hitter on the IL and no Paul Skenes.

  6. not that i’d be declaring ‘world series!’ if the Cubs do what they should be able to do and beat up on the Pirates, but…is it wrong to feel like, if they somehow manage to blow this series, that’s pretty much the season? if they can’t take 2 of 3 or even sweep the Pirates, that’s basically it

  7. I sure hated hearing Pat Hughes say wearily, “Swiiiing…and a miss, strike three” and sound disappointed at all those critical times yesterday. I think he learned from Harry that it’s okay to have those feelings as a Cubs play-by-play broadcaster, but he also learned from Santo that frustration can also get in the way of even doing color. There were times Ronny could barely talk, he was so agonized by poor play or rotten luck.

  8. Is it crazy I want to see Nico lead off and Shaw at 2? I mean, it can’t get any worse…. Right?

  9. Since August 1st:

Our top of the order (1-5 hitters) are a whopping 33/244 (.135 avg, 5 homeruns, 16 RBI, 7 doubles, 54 strikeouts).

Out of 244 at bats, there have only been 12 extra base hits.

    Our 3, 4, 5 hitters are 18/169 (.106 avg, 1 homerun, 8 walks, 5 doubles, 5 RBIs with 37 strikeouts)

    Busch- 43 plate appearances, 7 hits (3 singles, 1 double, 3 homerun) 2 walks, 11 strikeouts, 7 RBI

    Seiya- 43 plate appearances, 8 hits (6 singles, 1 double, 1 homerun) 9 walks, 6 strikeouts, 4 RBI

Tucker- 45 plate appearances – 6 hits (all singles), 3 walks, 12 strikeouts, 1 RBI

    Happ- 46 plate appearances, 9 hits (5 singles, 3 doubles, 1 homerun) 5 walks, 10 strikeouts, 4 RBI

    PCA – 46 plate appearances, 3 hits (1 double, 2 singles) 0 walks, 15 strikeouts, 0 RBI

  10. Aight this is officially my personal ledge for the season – if we can’t *at least* take this series, I ain’t watching another game this year unless it’s the postseason.

  11. This is going to sound crazy but, the Cubs need to sweep the Pirates or at the very minimum take 2/3.

  12. If the Cubs go 7-1 on this homestand, I’ll debate drinking the cool-aid again. But anything short of that, I just can’t invest much more time and emotion into this mid/bad product.

  13. Call me crazy. But what’s the law on traveling to Canada for baseball players? Do you think they need passports?

Outside of Caissie playing well. Could he have been added to the team because he had duel citizenship and it would have been easier/quicker to get him to CA???

    I’ll shut up now.
