Meet the FIRST MLB ‘Bob’ in 15 Years 👀

What if I told you there hasn’t been a player in Major League Baseball with the name Bob in 15 years. The MLB’s Bob Drought is officially over. The Rays just called up a player named Bob Seymour. And he’s actually the first player named Bob in the majors in 15 years. The last one, relief pitcher Bob Howry, who retired back in 2010. That’s 15 years without a single Bob on a major league field. Kind of surprising considering how popular the name used to be in baseball. In fact, five players on the 1971 Pirates World Series team went by Bob. Seymour has been solid in Triple A this year. He’s one of the Rays top power backs. He’s expected to join the team in San Francisco on Friday, just in time for the Rays weekend series against the Giants. And here’s the fun part. If he makes his debut this weekend, it could be Bob versus Bob since Giants general manager Bob Melvin will be in the opposing dugout.
