REKAP: ⚾️ Chicago Cubs 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh Pirates. ‘I can’t stand this team! I really can’t!’

Welcome into the recap of the Cubs insanely ridiculous 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, one of the worst teams in baseball on a gorgeous Friday at Wrigley Field. I’m David Kaplan. It’s brought to you by our great partners at Winrust. They are the exclusive home of Cubs Checking. Folks, keep telling me I’m a hater, that I’m too hard on certain players. That roster right now is a joke. It’s a train wreck. Those are professional hitters. And against Ashcraft and the Pirates, who are an awful baseball team, they mustered up two runs and they were lucky to do that. And then watch the mistakes that they make time and time again. Their approach at the plate overmatched against 88 mph fast balls. They keep telling me I’m too hard on the players. Let’s get into this. This is also brought to you by our great partners at Tasty Trade Stocks, crypto, futures, options. tastyrade.com to have an account. Folks, you score two runs at home on a gorgeous Friday with a packed house against an awful, awful Pittsburgh Pirates team. I don’t know what to tell you. At some point, maybe the light will go on and they’ll start to hit again. But I wouldn’t freaking bet my money on it. Not a chance. Let’s get into what happened today because they played from behind again. And let me give you a quick stat. Listen to this. Since July the 2nd, the Cubs have not come from behind in a game. That means falling behind one- nothing and coming back. Since July 2nd, it’s August the 15th. It’s a train wreck situation what we’re watching. The Pirates, oh my god, they’re a horrible baseball team. And you can tell me all you want, well, the Cubs record is this and the Cubs record is that. The Cubs are a joke right now. An absolute train wreck offense. Got good starting pitching again today. Did you support it? No. Daniel Palencia gave up a home run to Chicago native Jack Sinsky. He’s got all of three home runs on the season. He hit 101 mph fast ball out of the ballpark to left field in the ninth inning to win it. Good for him. big deal. If you can’t pick somebody up with that type of offensive output allowed by your pitchers and score more than three runs, what are we doing here? What are we doing here? Here’s how this one shook out. Andrew McCutchen double in the fourth. One- nothing Pirates. Pete Cor Armstrong base hit. He tries to uh stretch it into a double. Come on, PCA. You can’t make mistakes like that on the bases. We saw him picked off the other day. Now we see this one cannot happen. But he does tie the game 1-1. Isaiah Ker Isaiah Ker Fippa a double to deep center in the seventh. Cubs come back. Matt Shaw, this dude keeps delivering. Finds a way to get a sack fly and he ties the ball game. But the Cubs had traffic on all inning long. Could not get a go-ahad run in. And then Suinsk’s home run. And then in the ninth inning, let me just tell you, Pete Cor Armstrong, Pete Cormstrong gets a base hit. He hit the ball well today. I think he had three hits. And guess what? They send him to steel. He’s safe by from here to freaking Milwaukee. And guess what? He overslides the bag out. That can’t happen. You can’t get picked off. You can’t get caught trying to stretch a ball into a double. And you certainly can’t overslide the base down a run in the ninth inning. Those are mistakes that cannot happen. And if the manager can’t clean this up, then find someone who will because Craig Council shows me the pulse of a dead man. I don’t see any pulse there. I’d like to see a little fire. I don’t see it. I don’t see it. But again, when your your hitters don’t hit, everything looks bad. Everything looks bad. Quick look at our Hooters winging at starting pitching matchup. I’m so freaking mad. Ash Craft. Yeah, there’s a guy that inspires great confidence. Five innings, three hits, one run, four Ks. Did not walk a man for the Cubs. Colin Ray. Colin Ray was solid today. Five innings, three hits, one run, fiveks, two walks. Kitridge, Braier, Keller, and Palencia. and Palencia gives up the gamewinning home run and that cost the Cubs a ball game. Those mistakes are going to happen. I can live with those. The fact that your offense is so dead just drives me insane. Here’s how the heart of the Cubs order. What a joke. How they did today. Michael Bush 0 for two. Justin Turner hit for him 0 for two. Seiya had one hit and scored a run. Tucker 0 for three in a walk. half 0 for three. But just keep running them out there, Craig. Absolutely. You stick to that analytic lineup, buddy. You just keep running those dudes out there. Unbelievable. Owen Casey came up, hit the ball hard his first game. Why wasn’t he in the lineup today? You keep staying loyal to that Ian Hap. Boy, that’s really working out well for you. Kyle Tucker really, really locked in offensively. And then you had a hit for her, three for Pete Crow Armstrong. Good to see Matt Shaw did not have a hit, but he did drive in that run with the sack fly. No hits at catcher. No hits for Kelly as a pinch hitter. And there’s your ball game. Our Studio 41 look ahead. You get this juggernaut known as the Pirates again Saturday and Sunday. And you better find a way to win this series. I’m starting to really believe that this team’s going to gag their way out of going to the playoffs. Really starting to feel that way. Sad cuz I’m the most optimistic dude in the world. That is our Studio 41 look ahead. 13 locations. studio41.com. Home remodeling showroom. Joke. Ridiculous. Awful. Player of the game. Jack Sinsky. The local kid. He hit the home run. He gets the app. Player of the game. Have a great rest of your day. I’m going to go get a glass of bourbon. I can’t stand this team. I truly can’t stand them. Take that.

The Chicago Cubs anemic offense continued against one of the worst teams in MLB on Friday at Wrigley Field. With a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the 7th, the Cubs mustered just a sac fly from Matt Shaw to tie the game 2-2. They played from behind throughout the game, and then in the 9th, Chicago born Jack Suwinski hit a GW solo HR into the left field bleachers off of Daniel Palencia to send the reeling Cubs to another loss. Kap is as hot as he was 24 hours ago, criticizing everyone up and down the roster, to manager Craig Counsell. Pete Crow Armstrong had 3 hits, but had multiple fundamental errors, one that was crucial in the 9th, and Kap says that B.S. has to get cleaned up by someone. He adds that he’s actually starting to believe the Cubs might miss the playoffs. That’d be insane.

Take That!

  1. Brewers overcame an 8-1 deficit to win their 13th straight in the Nati. Nine-game lead over Chicago. Craig Counsell = Highest-paid manager in the majors. Pat Murphy = Manager-of-the-Year (again).

  2. This team absolutely sucks right now. They probably couldn't score more than 3 runs off a high school pitcher right now. There's no more excuses. Do not re-sign Tucker and Counsel better be fired after the season!

  3. Meanwhile, the Brew Crew showed why they’re the best team in baseball! Down 8-1 with the JV Team lineup missing Chourio, Collins, Perk, and Hoskins and they came back! The pen retired the final 23 batter in a row. 10-8! Fun season as a Brewer fan! The Brewers will have a 10 game lead when the series starts on Monday!

  4. Don Zimmer would have kicked all the dirt at home plate on the ump after that call to Suzuki…Counsell at least act like you care…I bet you all these boys don't forget how to cash them fuckin checks tho…looks like they are lookin forward to football season now.

  5. Hey Kap, I don't know if you'll read this but Jed Hoyer got his money and now it's like Ricketts telling the fans, wait until next year!! Is there anyway to BOYCOTT this pathetic management!! Maybe have some fans by the entrance with signs bringing this lousy management to account!! You know Ricketts screwed us over, right?!! 😢 The White Sox are more fun to watch than the Cubs anymore!! TAKE THAT!!😍

  6. They will not catch the Brewers even if they win 70% of their remaining games!! Heck if they sweep the 5 game series, they're still 4 back…. unless the Brewers totally collapse, which i doubt, Cubs need a great stretch of baseball to get wild card round. This just makes me wanna vomit!!

  7. Managers manage.
    Players play.
    Period.
Craig had players here in Milwaukee.
He doesn't have the same hungry players with you guys.
The first half of the season was a fluke.
    The Cubs over achieved.
And now they've come back to reality.
    Counsell my as#
    It's your players.
    They're on the field.
    Craig is not.
    GO CREW !!
    13 STRAIGHT !!
    😂😂😂😂😂

  8. counsell needs to chew these guys out and say these things won't be acceptable. he's another matt eberflus, aw shucks thats ok just do better next time man

  9. Sewers fans are clowns, team just won 13 in a row and have the best record in baseball and these clowns are on here caring what the garbage ass cubs do. No hillbilly Milwaukee channels to watch?

  10. LOL. Lack of leadership. Jed never should have been given an extension.

Tucker, way past time to put up or shut up. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

  11. Kap, I know you’re passionate about the Cubs. Take it easy though, one of these days you’re going to drop dead making one of these recaps.
