Pat, the Bulls released the uh the schedule yesterday and I think we need to start off with the schedule release video. This video was so The Bulls do this very well every season is the schedule release video. It’s always fun. Was it last year they did it in the style of like the 8bit or was that a couple of seasons ago? Uh, I think last year it was 8 bit, right? I don’t remember. I don’t remember. They do a good job with all of them, though. Yeah, that was like It started off It was like the Pokemon. It looked like an old Pokemon screen. Uh, but just the Let’s just start off with the Easter eggs in this video. A the Luca Dantic Maverick’s action figure on sale cuz it was action figure themed video next to the the the Los Angeles Lakers Luca figure. LeBron James taking a a break in the middle to chat with two women in the video was mimicking his international women’s day meme which is a deep cut there. I don’t even think people really caught on to that one. Go ahead. I thought they was making a Toronto joke. I was like, “Oh, y’all are wilding.” The Pope Leo inspired Lego set was an absolute darling there. um the Dwayne Wade uh statue uh the action figure, the make fun of the the scary uh Dwayne Wade uh statue that dropped. Then they even did something where they had uh poking fun of Stephen A. Smith when he got caught betting uh la or playing poker last season that was in there. Like this they this was perfect. It literally perfect. I love the way they do it. How’d you think about it, Pat? H listen, they always do a good job with the videos. I thought that it was hilarious. I I didn’t know if they were doing this because of like that PlayStation game that had come out that was basically like Toy Soldiers or like what inspired this, but I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Um I thought even at the end where it’s like uh like they it’s the limited edition toys. You can see that it’s the Derek Rose to like it. Yeah, they did a great job with it. They set it up. They always have one of the They the Bulls are kind of like the NBA’s version of uh the Chargers for the NFL who always do an elite job with like the schedule release videos. So, yeah, I loved it. I thought it was a heck of a lot of fun. Yeah. I don’t know who’s in charge of this. If it’s the marketing, I would imagine it’s probably the marketing team. Maybe it’s social media team like or a combination of the two. But they they do an excellent job of it every single time. It was well made, well animated. And I tell you, for people that don’t know, good animation costs money. They spent some money on the schedule release video. Yeah. I mean, it’d be nice if they’d spent some of it on Josh Giddy, but uh you know, you get what you get. Josh, we’re going to need you to take less on the contract. We got the schedule release video we got to come out. We need you to take a little bit less on that. Um can we drop the action figures by the way? Like I would absolutely like I would absolutely make it part of the part of the desk. Like I have the Jordan and and Dennis Robin bobblehead. I’m making it part of the desk if they were to do that. So there’s a Jordan action figure. Hm. There’s a Jordan action figure already. Is there? Yeah. Yeah, it came. Oh, yeah. They You think they they didn’t sell merch on Jordan back in the day? See, now I got to go on eBay and find this mug and I already know it’s probably You can get it off Amazon probably still. Oh, I I’ll see if I can find it. But, um, with that said, let’s get into some of the schedule. Pat, is there anything? Uh, I I think we need to start off first with the national TV games. Let’s Let’s start off with that. The Bulls only have three nationally televised games uh next season. That’s uh December 1st against Orlando. That’s on Peacock, not NBC. I think that they’ve made a clear distinction. The NBC games that are actually on the the traditional NBC broadcast channel are different from Peacock. Yes, they’re still they’re still um uh produced by NBC, but it’s streaming on the app specifically. We got one game on ESPN against Brooklyn and then we got another game on on on Amazon Prime against Toronto on February 5th. Pat, the question I want to throw to you, we’ll talk about the slate here in a minute, but is the NBA starting to get a little bit loose with nationally televised? Like, are we are are streaming games consider those truly nationally televised games? Yeah, because everybody’s got to go to one place to watch them. So, I I I get why they’re saying nationally televised games, but I’ll be honest with you, bro. Like I’ll be so happy when they come up with just a single app that like ties all these games together or tethers them together and we can call it something catchy like you know cable. That’d be great. just like why why am I going to 17 websites for and and look I know I know you’re not supposed to say it but like I saw a tweet below that tweet that showed everything every single game where the NBA is going to be throughout the week and somebody below it just went streamy streamy streamy streamy streamy and I was like yeah bro because this is too much y’all doing way too much with this it’s all over the place. Yeah it’s definitely all over the place. Um, so you know they they have to figure it out. I like the streaming thing is and I and I get it. This is where sports are going. Uh, the reason why I question on the national broadcast thing because there was something that showed like the number of subscribers for each app. Of course, Amazon Prime technically has a lot of subscribers because it’s part of you have Amazon Prime subscription. So that’s kind of inflated. I think the number of people that actually watch video on Amazon Prime is like onethird of the of the subscribers which still is a huge amount. But like for Peacock, there’s only 2.4 4 million subscribers to Peacock. That’s not that that that much when you look at nationally broadcast like typically nationally broadcast like you’re talking about well over 50 million Americans. So like that’s why I asked that question on if you still consider it na national broadcast. Well, I think I think you got to uh you also got to take into account there’s a lot of people that reby Peacock during the NFL season. So, I would assume that number is going to go up by quite a bit uh once football season starts. And every Thursday night, Peacock is is the home of the uh the Thursday Night Football. So, we’ll see what ends up happening. But I I would give them the national distinction cuz all national is is everybody in the world is coming here to watch this game. Yeah. Okay. That’s fair. I mean, that’s that’s and that’s probably the fair, more modern way to view it. But the fact that the Bulls have only one ESPN game, no actually NBC game, no ABC game, like like nothing on anything Disney owned or anything really outside the one. Like it it it seems for a team that ended the season strong and that does have an exciting play style. When you look at some some of the other teams that have nationally broadcast games, like for example, uh Pat, I don’t know how you feel about the difference between the Bulls and the Miami Heat. Like I’m not saying that the Heat aren’t technically better on paper. We’ll see how the record we finished with a better record than them last season, but they even have almost 10 nally televised games. It just seems like like this is the NBA saying that they don’t really expect the Bulls to be good, which is fine. I mean, that that’s fair. The Bulls have to show and prove it. But one thing that’s changed with the with the way that the the NBA broadcast and has it deal with it broadcast partners, every game is able to be flexed now. So, if the Bulls do start the season off strong, they could easily be flexed into more games. Yeah, 100%. Listen, there there’s no good storyline on the Bulls. I want to see Cooper Flag on a national scale. I want to see what Luca looks like on the Lakers on a national scale. I want to see Kevin Durant on the Rockets on a national scale. I Nobody wants to miss Joic and how they’ve been balling and what that team’s going to look like now with some major changes made to it. Like, you want to see the big storylines on TV and have the best of the best out there talking about those those storylines on the broadcast or whatever it is. like your number one game to to open a season is Kevin Durant have to sit there and watch OKC get they ring. Yeah. He about to drop 100. You know, you know something that I also think in in watching how and I know this is broader NBA, but it really does seem like the NBA is the way that it’s picked its broadcast. I don’t know if the if the broadcast partners pick it, but like it’s it’s less it seems like not only are they’re highlighting the better teams, which is perfectly fine, but they’ve also placed it to where the actual basketball matchups make the most sense, and it seems like the NBA is trying to move into this place where let’s get back to our games being the focus. I know that you probably saw the quote from from Denzel, me, you talked about a little bit, where where like it it is this thing now where it’s like the sports the broadcasters, the the the pundits have become the story. It seems like the NBA is trying to get back control over that and no, let’s make our teams, let’s make the games the story and if you get big off of that, great. But it seems like that’s trying to be the highlight here by the NBA. Yeah, I think that’s trying to be the highlight by the NBA. I think that’s trying to be the highlight by how ESPN is acquiring a lot of these things. Like it it truly is becoming, hey, like this is where the personalities are going to be and this is where you’re going to go to get your basketball. It feels like it’s it’s two different worlds now. Um, which I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but I mean it is kind of what we grew up with and and you still get icons from it. You get the, you know, the the the guys who made NBC popular. You you get the Ahmad Rashads. You get all of these people that you look at and you’re like, that’s a guy that was iconic for his time. And I think that’s kind of what the NBA is trying to get back to. But it’s also paired with Michael Jordan winning six championships. is also paired with uh Magic Johnson being one of the best players on the earth and Larry Bird and the conversations that happened there. So I I we’ll see how it works. I don’t hate it. It’s just different than what we’ve had in a long time. That’s a fact. That’s a fact. And we’ll see how it continues to grow. I do think one there’s one benefit of not having a lot of nationally televised games. That is that we don’t have to deal with the nationally televised broadcast crews. At least we get Stacy King and Adam and Mean for most the games. I have one question that I want to follow up and ask Pat on this in regards to nationally televised games. We’re going to pick up after this. We’re also going to talk about the games to watch on the schedule. But first, we got to get some message from Monarch Money. Most people can’t name all their financial accounts or even what they’re worth, whether it’s a 401k, properties, or investments. It’s It’s about to be a white dude with bad sunglasses and an American flag in his profile picture that’s about to clip that up and see CDI. That’s fine. It’s all right. Uh with that said, Pat, I said I had one question followed up off the national TV games before we talk about the games to watch. Um because because every game can be flexed in or out of. What do you think the overunder is for nationally televised Chicago Bulls game? Is the over the what? How how many do you think it stays at three? Do you think we go below that? You think we go above it? What do you What do you What do you predict? Um I’m going to say it probably goes up just because I think by the time we get to the end of the season because of how beat up the East is, the Bulls may actually be fighting for that six seed. Don’t lose your minds. That don’t mean you you winning 60 games. like it’s probably like 43 games for the six seed this year, but uh I think that uh that could be a game that’s worth televising. So whether it’s four or not, I think that that uh that that number may go up by at least one. Yeah, I’m going to I’m going to put it at four and a half. I think there’s a chance that we can get five nationally televised games. I do think that uh because I do like you, I think the Bulls are going to be better today. I mean better this season. I think that Detroit Bulls game February 21st is probably going to be flexed into. I see both the teams being good and that is right after rivals week and I think that you know coming off those vibes that has a chance to get flexed into and then I think also Houston Bulls March 23rd is going to just just mark Mark the C not only do I think it’s going to be I think I have the games that are going to be flexed into. Okay. Okay. Okay. I’m mad at that. Yeah. I wouldn’t be surprised too if Josh Giddy at Oklahoma at OKC March 27th that may be flexed into there if Bulls are looking like a playoff team around that time. So do Did they miss rivals week again? Yeah, we have no rivals week at all. We’re not in rivals week. No, no. I’m just saying like the NBA like when I see Yeah, cuz once again when I see rivals week I’m like these are not rivals because Yeah. Once again they didn’t do the actual rivals. Like it’s it’s a couple in there that they actually did, right? Like I I I think the the Houston San Antonio that’s good. I I like that the te the Texas match up. They’re both teams. I like that one. Um, who else was? There was another one was Indiana Pacers Thunder. Like, listen, I get it. You want to you want to broadcast the the the finals match up from the year prior, but come on now. We know that the Indiana Pacers are not going to be working. You put that on national TV. Yeah, bro. Rivals and and the Pacers about to be cheeks this year. Unless you think Ben Matthew about to turn into a god, it’s about to get ugly down there in Indiana. Yeah. Uh, another one that’s weird to me, uh, that’s on rivals week is, uh, no, no, I take that back. I had to think about that for a second. I was like, Lakers Mavs aren’t rivals, but the Luca I completely didn’t think about the Luca thing. Luca Cooper flag, that’s going I get I get what you That’s not a rival. I guess I guess if you you can’t even say the front office are rivals like Yeah, that’s true. They help each other. They they worked there. They helped each other. U the only one that maybe Rockets and Spurs. Yeah, that’s what I said. The Rocket Spurs are definitely That’s the only one. I I like that one. I do think as well. Yeah, the Lakers Clippers technically because the whole Sixers is going to be cheeks. Yeah, I do like OKC. Yeah, it’s stupid. I do like I do like uh uh Golden State versus the T-Wolves. I like that too. I do like that. I like that as well. I like that one. But yeah, it’s they the rivals week is just it’s tough. And then they try like because now they can’t do the the the Ball brothers thing which they No, they did they did with the Cavs and and the uh the Hornets. They now are doing it with the with the Thompson twins, the Rockets and the and the Pistons. Yeah, it’s it’s like we know what the rivals are. But this is why you got to bring back divisions. Yeah, I fully I’m full I’m all in on bring back divisions. Make divisions matter. Still a thing, but make divisions matter. Rivals week is a chance to make divisions matter again. No, I I literally want like if you win your division, you rank in in the one, two, three, four where the three wild card the top three seeds and then Yeah. Yeah. That’s how they used to. I want I want divisions to matter again. Yeah. Cuz it’s stupid. Like Yeah. I get the conference thing. I get just making it the best team in there wins and somebody’s going to get screwed over. Do better. better. But to get this back to the Bulls though, are there any games you have circled on your on your calendar that you’re looking excited for the Bulls to play in? Uh, I think Bulls Pistons is is is one that’s a a true test always. Yeah. You know what I mean? That’s a true test. And that is uh, if I’m not mistaken, is that where we open? I think that’s where we open the season. That’s where we open the season. That’s open the season. Um, probably that November 12th one is the real one that I’m going to be watching for because um they the Bulls may sneak a win in early in the season and you know Detroit wants to get him back but Detroit put it was a BTA situation with Detroit at the end of last season. Like it was it got ugly. Like I was at that game we were down 52 at one point. Yeah. So you got to have a little bit of fight back in you. Um, outside of that, the back-to back versus Atlanta 21st and 23rd. Now, we we’ll see where the season is at. They should have put that game on fire by that point. Um, that was good. That was well done. That was well done. You know what? I give you a care laugh for that. That was good. That was solid. Um, I I think those back tobacks are going to be interesting because the Bulls in Atlanta always play really hard for our game. Yeah, they do always play very close. Yeah. And I mean outside I don’t know what this season’s going to be. So I can’t sit here and tell you if there’s anything right. If there’s a game that maybe I’m keeping an eye on, you know, like the Memphis when they come to Chicago, that may be a game I want to go to. Um get an opportunity to possibly see John Moran if he’s alive. Uh and then uh Minnesota when they come to Chicago for Anthony Edwards. Well, the one game that I was just going to talk to you about to see if we can we can figure out going to um that I that I would love to try to to try is that Atlanta game because that’s also the same week that we’re going to be in town for the Green Bay Packers, the live event we supposed to do. That is those games are in Atlanta. Yeah. Yeah. And then I was going to say I was like how we doing that? Jan January 10th uh versus Dallas is another one I think to circle because of the whole modest Cooper flag thing. Yeah. I’ll be I’ll be incredibly uh intrigued to to see kind of that matchup as well. Like what kind of step is Modis taking this season? He’s got a year of NBA experience that Cooper Flag doesn’t have. And Cooper Flag can be an absolute dog, but NBA experience matters and and Modis is not shying away. I can guarantee you Modis heard a lot of the comparisons of oh well you didn’t go you could have got Cooper flag if you had sucked for one more year. Instead you went out and got Modis. Hey, he hears that and you know he’s using that and he and he’s going to when you see Cooper flag like it’s going to be a battle and they’ve had battles. They’ve gone at it pre-draft process, high school floor stuff like that. Cooper’s kind of got the best of them in most of those situations. Yeah, I think there’s one game that shout out to my boy C Dub. He keeps hanging on. Oh, that means Modus is better than Cooper. I’m like Coop got to Mod got to show it. But I’m excited for that matchup going forward. So, we’ll see what happens there. But overall, like I’m excited about the Bull season. Of course, I’m glad that we have the schedule. So, the schedule release is kind of the the unofficial end of the nonsense period of the off seasonason, except the Bulls have still not not resigned Josh Giddy. Uh, but it does mean we’re about a month away from training camp’s opening. So, did you see the Giddy Post, though? We did see the Giddy post. I did cover that. That was an episode you weren’t on. We did cover it. So, no, not the modest one. The There’s a There’s an actual post from Josh Giddy. Oh, no. I did not see that. It’s just him on a Bulls floor with all his teammates. It’s soon. Soon. It’s happening soon. That was an impressive save. I ain’t going to lie to you. Yeah, that’s an impressive save. I appreciate that. Before we get up out of here though, let’s uh let’s get to this final topic. Uh talking about outside of just signing Josh Giddy, well, how surprising that could be, could the Bull surprise us with this uh schedule here? Give some uh predictions kind of. We’ll see. All that and more coming up next. Oh, wrong way. [Music] I definitely forgot I had to hit it. Sorry. That’s all right. No worries. Uh with that said, Pat, like now that we have the schedule, uh 11 back to backs for the uh 12 backtobacks on the season for the Chicago Bulls, but puts them actually towards the bottom of the league as far as backtobacks. It puts them in the in the bottom fourth of the league as far as backto-backs. Um how how do you feel about the schedule? Can the Bulls like a lot keep in mind a lot of people are still predicting the Bulls 32ish 33ish wins. Can the Bulls surprise people this season? I think continuity means a lot. Um, and that’s one thing the Bulls have ton of. Oh, you calm down. I I think but I think, you know, like when you have these pieces, if you bring back Josh Giddy, you get him in here for camp and depending on how healthy the team is. Um, I think that you can do a lot especially in a absolutely devastated, depleted Eastern Conference. Like I think the teams that you know that are going to be there, you know, Cavs, you know, Knicks. Um unless you know something crazy happens, Detroit, Orlando. Yeah, I agree with that. I I Cleveland Knicks, Detroit, Orlando are pretty I feel comfortable I’d feel comfortable saying that they’re in there. I don’t know how Milwaukee looks heading in. Milwaukee has been on a downward trend every year. Yeah. Yeah. And the Miles Turner acquisition from Giannis. Yeah. I mean, you got Giannis and Miles Turner is going to be solid. Know he had a weak finals, but you know, you can’t overlook what he typically does in the regular season. That’s going to be good for him. The Miles Turner, Bobby Porter’s minutes together. I’m really excited to see for what it’s worth, too. But like, did you see that they turned down a deal for Jonathan Kaminga because they didn’t want to give up Bobby Poris? Yeah. What’s going on up there? They really like Bobby, bro. Hey, bro. Listen, listen. Nobody could like Bobby. Nobody could like Bobby that much. They really like Bobby Porters, bro. Like, if we we need a guy to punch a European, we got to make sure we keep him around just in case Giannis ever get out of the line. But yeah, listen, Milwaukee is they’re going to be interesting team, but like like I could see Milwaukee winning close to 50 games. I could see them around 44 games. like it’s just it’s a and that’s a lot of teams under that. Atlanta, they made a lot of moves this offseason. I love love love the the acquisitions of Nikil Alexander Walker. Um they added Christophs Porzingis if he’s healthy, too. Like I like that team. I I I could see that team being a top six seed as well. But then again, you got injuries. They they’ve dealt with injuries. You We don’t know. This could be the season that Trey Young shoots efficiently. He’s like every other season, he has an efficient shooting season. Last year wasn’t the best. So, you know, we’ll see what happens there. But the East, I’m not I don’t say the East as wide open as some other people because I do think the top four or five seeds are going to be locked in. But much like last year, everything from six down to 10. Last year from 6 to 10, there were five games that separated those teams. I think it’s going to be close like that again this year, bro. I say I I’d say probably from four to about 10, you’re going to see a lot closer because here’s the thing. You’re going to lose Boston. You’re going to lose Indiana. See, that’s the thing. I still think Boston is still going to be a top six, seven seed in the Eastern Conference. I think Boston is coming into this year and that depends on Jaylen Brown and maybe, you know, if Jaylen Brown cooks, they they they do what they do and and I don’t know how healthy he is. He I you know, depending on what kind of surgeries he may have had in the offseason, stuff like that. But doesn’t it feel like the perfect year for Boston to say we’re going to take a L this year and we’re going to get a really high draft pick because our best player is out for the season. Who cares? Indiana kind of the same conversation. We going to take a L this year. It’s why you let go of a Miles Turner. See, I see that for I see that for Indiana. Boston. I still think Boston’s going to and I think they have they’re going to wait and use this Anthony Simons trade ship mid-season to add whatever they feel like they need. I still think that they’re going to be gunning for the playoffs. I And I could be wrong on that cuz they do have their own first round pick outright. I could completely be wrong. It’s just I just I look at that franchise and I just think this is a franchise that I could just see still being like, “No, we’re going to win every single we’re going to try to win every single game.” Yeah. But I think there’s there’s a bunch of those years where they were like like when Kyrie went down and they were like, “It’s over. let’s just let’s just go get these picks. The first time Kyrie went down and then you add Jason Tatum and then you add Jaylen Brown. Then you add all these pieces and it’s like all right, let’s go win. Like you find a way to get the high draft capital again or you know the year that it goes down where you’re killing it. You trying to go for it. Yeah, we feel like we got a chance up. He’s down. All right, let’s let’s let’s go get these high picks. So, I don’t know. With Jaylen Brown being healthy, it may be, you know, like you said, but either way, um I think the Bulls have a real chance to actually make the playoffs outright. I move Orlando into that conversation. I move uh um I’m keeping Detroit in that conversation. They were a top six team. I I feel like you can compete. Six last year was 44 wins. The Bulls can get 44 wins. And it may not take that much this year. We’ll see. We’ll see. I mean, like I agree that the East is weaker. I I think I just see it still a little bit more topheavy than you do, but you just never know how things are going to go. We shall see if the Bulls can take advantage of it. We know that uh AK’s going to try to. So, we’ll see. Here’s the real question. Does Philly move up? Cuz technically Embiid may actually be healthy. Although, he’s got 16 back to backs, which 16 back tobacks, bro. That like the NBA The NBA was like, “Hey, Embiid, you out eight.” Yeah. That’s a that’s an automatic knocks them down from 82 games to SE like to 73. So we’ll see. But yeah, I mean I I don’t know how to read on Philly, bro. Cuz I like Philly’s roster better now. Even if Embiid sits than what I did last year, even if Paul George is out, I think that they have that wing combination that they have of like between Maxi McCain, uh Quinton Grimes, they bring him back, uh Edgecom, who they drafted, like they they have a nice little rotation there. Um, so we’ll see how that ends up shaking out for them. Admana was really strong to end the season for them, too. So, you know, we’ll see. Um, Philly is going to be one of they could really disrupt the East. If Philly stays relatively healthy, and by that I mean 59 60 games from Joel Embiid and the rest of the team is solid even when he’s down. I could I could see them still being a 50 winish team, but that that that that margin is very small there. That that is big. Yeah. But we want to thank you guys for tuning in, man.
