D-backs vs Rockies Game Highlights (8/16/25) | MLB Highlights

Three of four here in the series in Colorado Saturday night. A little cloudy here in Denver, but we are set for baseball. No question about it. Anybody with a bat in their hands in this ballpark can be dangerous and we’ve seen that in this series. Chase Dolander is on the hill tonight getting the start here at Cororsfield. He was back on track Monday night in St. Louis. He went five 5ks. Good stuff. Came out with the team down one- nothing. A hard hit ball right to Ritter and he guides it over to Warming Burnabel. So first man is dispatched. A tough guy to get out in Purdomo. That’ll bring up Cel Marte. Another tough out. Swung on and that one lashed out to deep right field. This has a chance and that one is off the very top of the wall. Marte hustling towards second base and he’s in there standing with a one out double. 104 off the bat off the out of town scoreboard for a double. He’s played 12 games against Colorado this season. and this one included. He’s got 10 extra base hits. Runner at second with one out. Here’s Corbin Carroll. Good swing and a miss. Got him with a dandy curve ball. Strike out number one. Out number two. Looking for a fast ball up and he got the change up instead and swung out in front. Guriel Jr. a chance to put the Dbacks on top. Lordis splits the gap. That’ll get a run home. Contel jogs around third. Guriel the two out RBI. The first shot across the Rockies bow for the Diamondbacks. Jam shot 98 got in on his hands just a little bit that kept that ball from going all the way to the warning track. Here is Adrien Del Castillo and he lifts this to left field. Back will make the catch to the end. Ryan Nelson tonight is facing the Rockies for only the third time in his career. We know Ryan likes that high fast ball and we know this Rocky teams attacks high fast balls. So throw it just a little bit higher than they can handle and get some fast outs and save that bullpen. leading off Mickey Modiac. Line to right for a base hit. And the Rockies trying to bounce back after the Dbacks got a run in the top half and hit in the air to straight away center field. He makes the catch. One down for catcher Hunter Goodman. Swung on. Ground ball left side diving as Purdomo has it. Pops to his feet. His only throw is to first and in time. Oh, what a play. What a play by Purdomo. I thought there was no way they’re going to get him at first. Split-second decision he has to make. Can I get the out at second or do I need to go across the diamond? Fired across there just in time to get it. Moniac does get to second. Two outs. Jordan Beck with a chance. Pokes it out. Corbin fighting the sun right out there in right field. They’re able to strand that leadoff single. Chaseander will go to work against Tyler Lleair, the first baseman. Swung out a miss. So he went 98 upstairs and he dispatches a locker. That’ll bring up the third baseman Blaze Alex. Straight three call caught the outside corner with a fast ball at 99 mph. Two hitters, two strikeouts in the second inning for Dolander. We talk about command of a pitch. Great location there just above the knees on the outside edge. He’s going to bring up Thomas on the left side. Swing and a miss. He got him with the change up. Dolander comes back and strikes out the side in the top of the second inning. The Rockies are trailing. It’ll be warming. Bernabel leading off against right-hander Ryan Nelson. That one’s hit deep to left. Is it enough? Guriel going back. He’s at the track. He’s looking up. It’s gone. Just cleared the fence right over that 390 sign. Another home run for Burnabel. Rocky’s on the board. They tie it up with a solo shot. We’re tied at one. You get used to that short quick stroke of warming and think of him as a line drive hitter, but he does have that ability when he can elevate a ball. Two out single for Fernandez and Ryan Ritter will hit now for the Rockies. Swing and a miss. He’s struck out Ritter and that puts an end to a somewhat turbulent bottom of the second. The Rockies get two hits in a run. Cel Marte up to the plate with Purdomal at first. Marte smacks it down the right field line and Purdomo’s on the run. Shawn Larkin who will stop him at third and Cantel is in at second with a double. Jerry’s coming home as the throw gets away and Martay’s into third. It’s two to one Diamondbacks. When the ball gets all the way to the wall at any part of this ballpark, it’s two long throws back to the infield. And that time they just could not handle the relay. Larkin had stopped Purdomo at third base. The play was over, but then the ball rolled back toward the infield. Second walk in the inning. It’s an issue to Carol. Not surprised that Hunter Goodman has gone out to talk to Chase. He was frustrated. Marte at third. Carol at first. And here comes Guriel who already has an RBI base hit tonight. Swung on. Ground ball left side. Third base has it. Carol comes to the plate. It’s off target. Marte slides in safely. And that’s going to be a fieldielder’s choice RBI. Dex lead three to one. First and second, one out. Adrien Del Castillo swing and a miss. Got him with that curveball. That’s a big second out for Chase Dolander trying to limit the damage here in the third. It’s hit to right field playable there for Fernandez in the sunshine. Comes in a couple of steps and makes the catch. And that’s the inning, but the Dbacks scored twice to take a 3-1 lead. Middle of three. What a good start to this inning. Got an easy ground ball. Kaiser made a great play and comes back. It’s a nice strikeout. Second strike out for Nelson. And here comes Sun Goodman. That’s down the line and that’s a fair ball and it ricochets away from the school in and Hunter will still stop at second. Down by a couple runs with two outs. That’s the wise move. Such a good job of pulling the ball. Rockies need a two out hit here from Jordan Beck. Ground ball. Base hit to right field. It’s going to score the run. Goodman will round third to get to second. On his way to home on his way to second. Beck gets there and beats the throw. Ball died in right field. Carol charged, but Beck did not hesitate. An RBI double. The Rockies get one back. Three-2 Arizona. Another RBI chance for the Rockies with warming Bernabel. Bernabel goes after the first pitch. Sends a highf fly to right and Carol towards the line. He makes the grab and that’ll do it for the Rockies. They counter though and they score one of their own. There is one out for Alec Thomas. Thomas drives this to center with some carry. Doyle onto the track, leaps and makes the catch with the wall. Brenton Doyle’s second terrific grab at the wall in this series. Not taking your eye off the baseball when you’re going to make a ridiculous catch like this. He tracks that all the way into the glove. Braces for impact. Chase Dolander loves it. And this is what the guy does. That’s why he’s got two gold gloves here. Yeah, it’s a leadoff base hit for Purdomo. Good start here in the fifth. Now here is Catel. Two extra base hits. And now Purdomo got a huge jump. Marte takes the pitch outside and no throw. Perdomo is in standing with what is his team leading 20th stolen base of the year. Sent to shallow left center Brenton Doyle calling everybody off. Brenton makes the catch and anytime you get Marte, especially this year in this ballpark. That’s a big out. Udomo gets to third now two outs. and Lordis Guriel who has two more RBI’s tonight against the Rockies. Lurtis pokes it in the air left center and it drops in for another RBI for Goreel. That’s his third tonight and it’s 4 to2 defense. Breaking ball down out of the zone. He was fooled on the pitch but he just got enough of this ball that ends up falling into short center field. Now Adrien Del Castillo as this is pul down the left field line back racing after it. He slides. He can’t reach it. It’s past him. It rolls down the line. Guriel is going to round third. He will score and Adrien Del Castillo with an RBI double. Extends the lead. It’s now 5 to2. Not a good play at all by Monia, the left fielder. I mean, this ball looks clearly going to drop in. Tries to make a play. He had no chance of catching. Slides and the ball gets by him and that cost the Rockies another run. That’s unfortunate for Chase. Pitching change here in the fifth. 52 Arizona. Jaden Hill coming in face Tyler Lleair a right-handed batter and he went again that’s the end of the inning so Hill on three pitches strikes out Lier two more runs for Arizona Carol with a one out single banks they brought their golf clubs to Colorado that’s a lot of chip shops and lob wedges here tonight is two for three with a couple of singles Corbin going again and he’s offis throws the pineapple up the line and Corbin has a stolen What is going on down there? Well, he waved at that curveball and lost the uh pineapple bat, but Corbin gets the stolen base. Another RBI opportunity here. Del Castillo hits a fly ball and that one’s going to go. Adrien Del Castillo, his second this year and it’s 7 to2. Oh, have a night. Caught himself a curveball and hooked it big time up in the right field bleachers. Down just a little bit right where ADC likes it. Brian Ritter stands in the number nine hitter. Fernandez at first and one out. And that’s hit to center. That’s pretty well struck. Racing back is Thomas and it’s off the top of the right field wall. That’s going to score a run. On his way to third is Ritter. He’s going to get there with a triple. Third triple this season for Ryan Ritter. Drives in a run with that triple. The Rockies are back on the board. Make it 7-3 Arizona. Left-hander Kyle Bakus on for his 21st appearance and he’s going to face a pinch hitter. Yeah, really tough on lefties. So Mickey Moniac’s going to be called back and Tyler Freeman will hit. There’s a ground ball the right side. It is a sliding grab by Kaiser gets up and throws to first to get the out. The run will score. Ryan Ritter able to trot home as the Rockies get two back in the inning. Kind of chip away late in the ball game. A double by Beck. A walk to Bernabel. And now a 3-2 count on Keros. The pitch outside ball four. That loads the bases. Bases are loaded with one out. Tying run at first. Go ahead run at the plate here. Now the left-hander Andrew Salrank is starting to throw for the Dbacks. Brenton Doyle, the hitter. A single in three tries tonight. Driven to right. Going back to the wall is Carol. It’s off the top of the wall. It’ll score two. Doyle into second as Caros holds it third. Inches away practically, but it’s a double that scores two and makes it a one-run ball game. He’ll take his two-run double, but that was close to being a grand slam. We’re going to get a pitching change. It’s a one-run game. Dex go with lefthander Andrew Sulfrank. Now, their backs are against the wall here. The Rockies have runners at second and third. He’s going to have to try and work around a pinch hitter, Kyle Farmer. Now for the Rockies. Drive towards left. It’s going to drop in front of Guriel. He couldn’t make the catch. Doyle’s going to try and score. He’s in there. And the Rockies take the lead. Kyle Farmer with a two-run pinch hit single. And when Guriel couldn’t pick up the ball after his diving try, Ron Doyle didn’t hesitate. A fourrun rally and an 8-7 lead. And now the Dbacks will go down to the ninth inning trailing. And here’s Ryan Ritter. Drop to third. Stays fair for Blaze. Throws on the run and makes a nice throw over there as Farmer gets into second and they get the second out. That’s going to bring up Tyler Freeman. There can be some more scoring and they will get it. Tyler Freeman way out of here. Halfway up the bleachers and left. touch him all time for T3 Free and the Rockies lead it 10-7. Zack when he came on to pinch hit last inning, the first pitch he saw, he almost hit a home run. He pulled it, it hooked, foul, otherwise it’s a home run. Jumps on the first pitch here for a long two-run home run. Now Corbin Carroll with two down. Carol pops it up. Kyle Carols into foul ground at third. The Rockies were down 7-2 going into the bottom of the seventh. They scored two in the seven, six in the eight, and stunned the Diamondbacks 10-7.
