Padres vs. Dodgers Game Highlights (8/16/25) | MLB Highlights

We welcome you back to Los Angeles and Dodger Stadium where tonight we play game two, the middle game of a three-game series between the San Diego Padres’s and the Los Angeles Dodgers. On the mound, former Padre Snellzilla Blake Snell making his fifth start, returning from the injured list on August 2nd. He had the left shoulder inflammation last time out. Pitched really well against the Toronto Blue Jays. Fernando digging in to lead off against him. Tatis will be facing Snell for the first time in his career. 3-2 pitch on the ground and in to right field. A base hit for Fernando. So just fought that one off. That was 98. And he shoots it through the right side. Tatis aboard. Arise coming up. Threetime batting champ again. Runner takes off. Throw from Smith and he’s out. Will Smith touchs down Fernando Tatis for the first down of the ball game. In the air down the right field line towards the corner. That ball is back and it is going to one hop up and over for the ground rule double to second base goes arise and the Padres’s with a guy on second base. One out for Machado and Manny grounds it slowly towards third base. That is a fair ball handled by Freeland and it squirts out of his hand. Machado will be safe. The rise stays planted at second base with the ball over towards third. But an infield hit and now three straight hits to begin the first inning against Snell. Two on and one out. sends one on the line to left field. Confoto’s there. There’s out number two and the first guy that they retire at the plate. Padres’s started the game with three consecutive two strike hits against Snell. There go the runners again. Throw goes to second in time and Will Smith getting the job done himself. Machado runs the Padres’s out of the first inning. No runs, three hits, one man left. sees only three total walks in the last two starts combined and he walks backto back hitters to begin his outing tonight. Noan and Bets in the first inning. Two on, nobody out. Another 3-2 to Will Smith taken for ball four. The bases are loaded on three DMC swaps. Base is full of Dodgers and nobody out for Freddy Freeman. Freeman to left. Mariano coming in and making the catch. tag at third is Otani, but he does not go. He was just bluffing and the first out of the inning. That’s huge. One away. Tasks Hernandez two for 14 with the bases loaded. So, he’s due for a hit. Oh, two. Popped up into right. Let’s see if they test Tatis, who’s also got a gun. Here comes Otani. Here comes the throw. It’s offline and the Dodgers strike first. It’s one- nothing. Sacrifice fly for Tay Oscar. And the Dodgers get on the board first. And the fourth walk of this first inning allowed by Dylan CE. The Dodgers are thinking, look, four walks in an inning. We need more than one run out of this. They’re loaded up for Conforto. Dodgers try to really make it hurt. Here’s the payoff. Conforto grounds one through the right side and they’ve taken advantage. Smith is right on Bett’s heels. with a two-run single from Conforto and a three-run first for the Dodgers bouncing on Dylan Se gets two more on the board and the Dodgers lead it three nothing and the Bogards with a good start to this second inning with a ringing single to left center fields have work to do and that is already the fourth hit for the Padres’s off of Blake Snell there goes Bogard’s first pitch testing Smith again you’d think they’d learn the Terminator Will Smith three of the first four outs of this game have been courtesy of his arm. Well, he went into the off season saying, “I’m going to improve my throwing.” And boy, has he from spring training all the way through to now he is one of the best in the business. Three nothing Dodgers. Miguel Rojos, the number nine hitter, will lead off for Los Angeles against Dylan CE who’s going to try and figure it out here. This is driven to deep left field. Back goes Lauraniano and he makes the catch in front of the fence. Nice running grab back there. in run onto the dirt of the track, but he makes the catch in front of the wall. It is ball four. It is another walk. And now two men aboard with two out for Freddy Freeman. Six walks a season high for Case and we’re only in a second inning. Hits this ball in the air to right center field. Tatis and Merrell back. It is caught. No, juggled and dropped. Two runs are going to score. Freeman’s into second and it’s five to nothing. That ball hung in the air forever. Merryill got there but couldn’t hang on and Merrill went after it with the glove hand and he could not make the catch. It’s 5 nothing Dodgers. First out here of the third brings up Freddy Firmine. Dug out to left field. Conforto makes a sliding catch. And Florida got a decent jump on the ball and was able to corral that sinking line drive off the bat of Fine for out number two. A curve lands for his first strike out of the night. And a one, two, three inning for Blake Snell. And that’s ball four. Lud off walk for a rise. And the first walk allowed by Blake Snell tonight. Bring Manny Machado. Highfly center field. Pah going back on the track. He’s got room. away. Machado hit it a long way, but it didn’t go out. Two-2 from Snell. Swung on and a bouncer to Freddy Freeman. He spins, throws to second one. That’s the only out they’ll get. So Merrill will reach on the fieldielder’s choice and Arise is forced out. Three to six. Two down. 02 pitch into right center field. Pah is there. Puts it away for out number three. No runs, no hits, one left. Five in a row now. retired by CE. See if we can get some length out of him here. He has just reached 80 pitches with one down in the fourth inning. Third time that he’s faced Otani able to get to that pitch and dump it into center field for a base hit. And he’s reached all three times. Just a flip of the wrist and that’s going to be it for CE. And the Dodgers with a runner on, one out here in the bottom of the fourth. The score, the Dodgers five, Padres’s nothing. Sharply hit on the ground to short. Bogarts from his knees to second for one on to first for two. Out of work as Bats grounds into the 643 DP. It was a rough first inning. 24 pitches and since then he’s got the pitch count in order. Only averaged right around 14 pitches since then. Gets a swing and a miss. Gets Lauriano very quickly. And that’s the second strike out of the ball game for Blake Snell. That is not a run-of-the-mill change up. ties up Croninworth. Back-to-back Ks to open the fifth for Snell. One, two, three go the Padres’s in the top half of the fifth inning. Dodgers only one base run of the last three innings after they got three runs in the first and two runs in the second. Tasker Hernandez knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first. That was the first run of the day. In the air to center field, back goes Merrill at the wall. Goodbye. For the second game in a row, Task Oscar Hernandez leaves the yard to the right of center, his 20th of the year. 411 ft the distance on the home run. And the Dodgers lead it six to nothing. Home run number 20 on the season. Forte Oscar Hernandez. Two on and two out. Runners at the corners for Jackson Merrill. Tonight is his 11th career start in this ballpark. his record 3-0 with an RA of 180. Dodgers would love him to get through this inning. Let’s get one more out here 6 nothing. Dodgers lead it. Fly ball to center field and Andy Pahz and Blake Snell against his old club has fired six scoreless innings. Gardo Enriquez takes over here now for LA. First out of that pen here in the seventh inning. Here’s Ryan O’Harn pinch hitting 103 to the inside corner. Edgardo Enriquez take a bow. It’s the Dodgers six Padres’s nothing. Drier hoping to clean things up here tonight and finish off the Padres’s. It’ll be 456 for the Padres’s. Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogarts and Ramon Lauraniano. Freeland. Freeland two gone in the ninth. Doing his best Manny Machado invitation over there. Terrific play by Alex Freeland at third base right along the chalk line. Terrific. He’s really shown a lot of range and quick glove going to the backhand side. Poked to deep right back goes Pahz. He’s there and they’re back by themselves in first place in the West. Shutting out the Padres’s tonight six to nothing. Two in a row. Inspirational starters and solid bullpen puts them back in first.

  1. Not impressed by the offense, the Dodgers offense go as Ohatani go and very few contributors from supposedly stars like Bets and the first baseman Freeman and the bottom four hitters very little contribution all season long

  2. Badly coached this time. Not taking Cease out earlier and stubbornly trying to steal 2nd gave away the game very early. That was a Padres gift.
