STREAK SNAPPED: Brewers come back for the lead in the 9th, Reds walk-off as winners in the 10th! 😯

The closer Alio Pagan to face a pinch hitter. Andrew Monisterio yanked back in favor of a rematch between Pagan and Anthony Seagler. Seagler pinch it for Tease last night. He walked and struck out. The strikeout came against Bean to close the ninth. But a run came in that inning unearned on Pagan. That was when Ellie de la Cruz tried to create a double play but bounced a throw scored in E6 that got by Spencer Steer. Not getting the double play was part of it, but the ball getting by Steer opened the window for the run to cross two. 3 and 0. And Pagan, just like Sion, the two Red’s top relievers, each walked the first two Brewers they faced last night. Terry Francona has spoken over the last few weeks about how at times in some of the Red setbacks, critical walks often early in innings by the bullpen have at times been part of it. Four pitch walk in a one-run game. What do they do with Durban who was grounded out three times including a nice play by Da Cruz on a ground ball to short check swing called strike. square yanked back. That’s a ball. Something these Brewers do up and down the lineup. It’s almost like facing a college lineup at times. Pat Murphy, an outstanding college coach in his day. They can bunt just about anyone at any time. Hayes on the grass at third. Square and a foul. You’ve got to think it’s off now with two strikes. Yeah. And I don’t believe that that was a sacrifice bunt. I believe what he was trying to do, Durban, was trying to push that ball past Pagan, put Matt Mlan kind of in a difficult read type of situation. I would suspect he’s swinging away here. Hayes is even at third now. Pagan peaks at first. One, two, check. Swing appeal. He did not go. Pagan’s first walk last night came to Bryce Terang who finished third in the big leagues in steals last year. He did a masterful job of containing the run game. You pointed out how he varied his timing and was much quicker to the plate. Yep. We saw the same when he contended with O’Neal Cruz lead off walk the last road trip in Pittsburgh 2-2 popped up. Da Cruz, Hayes, Mlan, all converging and it’s Da Cruz behind the mound. One out. After the game, Reds live the postgame show from your local Toyota dealers. BG and Sammy, I thought, did a terrific job summarizing the heartache that was last night. Could that set be bumping if the Reds can play spoiler here today? William Contrarus is 0 for three. One ground down, two strikeouts. First pitch slug to left center and gone. His 13th of the year. The Reds stood two outs away. Now they’re down two to one in the ninth. Brewers all over again. Well, there is a belief. And when you believe things like this just happen, hanging breaking ball and you pitch to try to not make a mistake. That just is a hanging breaking ball and contraras no part of it. Now Yelich, can Pagan and the Reds keep the game here? Red still have three outs to work with. Now down a run. Yellow Joe for three. One and one. Check. Swing. He went. No appeal needed. A noticeably larger amount of Brewers fans have been here this series than have been here in a long time. Thankfully, the Reds fans that have stuck around trying to drown them out. Two-2 right side. Mlan. There has been no action in the Brewer bullpen. Remember, they used all but two of their relievers yesterday. McGill pitched both Friday and Saturday. It’s a one-run game, and for right now, it looks like Meyers will have the ball. Andrew Vaughn has singled. That came his last time. He has flyed to right and flyed to deep center. Low. The Reds are set to have Benson, Austin Hayes, and Marte do up. Grounded to third. Hayes darts in on the run. A contrarous homer has tipped the scales in the late stage. Strike one. Meyer’s a man with a lot of starting experience, but he’s not often been in spots like this. Brewers now do have action in their bullpen. That’s sent to short in between. Bobble drop. Benson’s on. The tying run reaches. That hardly happens for the Brewers, but hot potato for Bryce Terang. E6. Yeah. Kind of in between whether you go get this or not. And I feel like Terra was there. I don’t believe he looked that ball into his glove. Understand the hesitation. Line drive. But once you commit, you got to go all the way through that ball. He didn’t do that. Grant Anderson, who had warmed earlier, is up in the Brewer pin. Austin Hayes doubled and scored his last time. The only Reds run that began the seventh. Strike one. in the air left field. Yell one out. The Reds are the only team in the majors that has not been swept on the season. They’ve gone 40 consecutive sets without suffering a broom cleaning. The Brewers are in the midst of their longest single season win streak in franchise history. They’ve won 14 straight. They’re looking for a 15th and they’re looking to the bullpen. Grant Anderson will get the call with Noelv Marte about to stand in. Reds have a man on, one out, down a run. They’ll tangle with the man who had issue with homers last year, Grant Anderson. Yeah, Grant Anderson is a side winding four pitch pitcher. A lot of sweepers and forcing fast ball sinkers. Tries to keep the ball down. Faces Noel Varte who has a couple of walk-offs in his career. One this year against the Rockies. He is singled. That came his last time. A line drive to right. He takes strike one. Anderson’s first outing of this series. He came into the big leagues with the Texas Rangers. That’s hidden to right. Base hit. Benson up to second. Head challenged for third. Black from right. Throw in is cut. Benson first to third. Another knock for Noel V. Marte. And the tying run is 90 ft away. The winning run is on. Really nice job yet again by Noelby Marte. That’s a high sinker right there. Just stay inside that baseball and he’s shown the ability to pull the ball. Very exceptional at going the other way. Great bit of hitting right there. It was an error that opened the door. And for a team that’s known for playing so clean, for minimizing their mistakes, capitalizing on the opponents, it could be a fitting conclusion to their gaudy win streak. If a mistake opened the door to their demise, Anderson was older when he cracked the bigs at age 26 with Texas. They let him go after he pitched to an eight erra last year and gave up 11 home runs in 26 and two/3 innings. He has surrendered six so far as a Brewer. Jose Trovinho a sack fly his last time has driven in the Red’s only run. He is 0 for two. Anderson is one career big league save came last year with the Rangers. Strike one. Both corners were creeping there. Vaude was angled almost facing left field side stepping up the line toward the plate away. One-1 way outside just glove by Jansen. Two-1 is over. Second base hit. Benson comes home and scores. Martine second. He slides into third. Terminium ties it. Well, you’re seeing the theme right there. Novi Marte hitting the ball the other way, getting under that sinker. And the same the case for José Trovinho. making that ball get up in the zone. It’s a high sinker. Stay through it. Driving that ball through right center field. Now the infield’s in. Try to cut off this run at the dish. Infield in. Key Brian Hayes is one for three. Can he win it? Runner off from first. Swinging miss. Defensive indifference. Drovinho to second. That’s a big deal because one out. I know infield’s in, but that takes away some opportunities at force plays. Will Hayes even see a strike with first base open or do you throw pitchers pitches out of the zone? Matt Mlan, who has been struggling, who struck out four times last night, is on deck for his first plate appearance of the game. Another miss. Hayes not biting. Soft away. Two and one. Outfield. Shallow. Infield in strike. What? That’s probably the closest thing he’s going to see to a strike with first base open. Not close. No. Stay disciplined here. Don’t chase. Boy, full count. As this at bat began, you pointed to Matt McClean. Yes, I did. First base open. He’s going to see another sweeper just like that. Hayes fouls it off. Now that one he might have to swing at. That’s the pitch just off the plate away. Called a strike in Abbott’s favor just about all day. called strike three. Yeah, those last two pitches pretty good. 96. Both of them right on the corner. Matt Mlan with an opportunity. Get this done, Matt. Here is one career walk-off. That was against the Dodgers. That’s when he wore that bubblegum bucket as a helmet as his teammates mobbed him. One ball, no strikes. Saw the success of Noel Vi Marte. The success of José Trovinho. Both of them shooting that ball past the second baseman. That’s got to be the approach. And again, it’s first base open. Mlan strikeouts are up a bit and nothing inside to any of these right-handed hitters. So, you got to have your nose over the plate looking for the ball elevated up out over the plate. You’re shooting this ball to right center field. just commit to it because everything’s out there. Way outside 3 and 0. Entering the game, only two Reds lifetime had hits off Anderson. One of them is TJ Fredle. He’s on deck. Reds have Ashcraft ready to go in their pin. Walked to him. Bases loaded for Freedom. He’s lived away to right-handed hitters. What does he do to the left-handed Fredel who was 0 for four today? He had reached an 18 of 19 entering today. If he gets on here, the Reds win. called strike just hit the inside edge. Fredel can turn on pitches in with the best of them. That’s Anderson’s plan. Fredel can smoke it. Fouled back. Missed that one. That was center center right there. Center cut inside. Long frame there by Jansen. Marte the winning run off third base popped up Seagler the call the Reds fort a tie we have extras yet again extras once more and that’s part of the tanalyzing in between of Reds and Brewers the Brewers have overwhelmingly beaten the Reds for years but They generally don’t blow them out. It’s a lot of games like this. Exactly. But at the end of the day, it’s a play made here or a play not made. Bryce Terra at shortstop made a mistake, but Trevinho throw to third for a tag. Out. Double check the ball in the glove and Brian Onora punches out the free runner Andrew Vaughn. Really nice play by Jos Trevinho. He really takes his time and looks to see where that runner is. Von not a speedster and that ball is there in plenty of time. Graham Ashcraft on the mound. Danny Jansen standing in. A man who can run at first. First pitch strike. Jansen is singled. He’s one for three. Yesterday. Bryce Tang reached with a walk against Beagan. That began the ninth. And Beagan did a great ch great job of containing the running element. Check swing appeal. He went 0 and2. away. Ashcraft was the first out of the pen yesterday. Fired a scoreless zen inning. He worked around a walk of Tyler Black. Black is the on deck hitter. Popped up softly. Shallow right steer out. Mlan over. Makes the play. So now Black who pinched it in the eighth and walked. It came against Tony Santion. Black was the only man to reach against Ashcraft last night. in the zone. Last night, I thought a slider was an equalizer, but we’re seeing that cutter play a bit this inning. 1-1. There is nobody up in the Brewer bullpen. I just wonder if the rest of their arms are tapped. How long could they even go? Anderson’s first outing in five days. Is it all on him? way up. Lost by Treveno. Perkins takes second. Wild pitch. It’s now Perkins who can run in scoring position. up the middle caught by Da Cruz. Tied at two, bottom 10. TJ Federel, the free runner. A big birth off second. Gets a look from Grant Anderson. First disengagement. Well, that is not just to look to see if indeed TJ Fredo is going to be aggressive. That’s to look to see if Smeister Steer is going to indicate whether or not he’s going to try to drop a punt down. Now pitch cal issues. Steer today has walked and singled. He’s one for three, including getting robbed by Caleb Durban, but he was at third base in the sixth. Going back to the 30th of July, he’s nearly matched the rest of the Reds in terms of go-ahad ribbies. Yeah, he’s been that guy. No doubt about it. Bunt dropped down. Friedel to third. Anderson gives a look. Flick to first. Steer drops down the bunt. Fredel 90 ft away for Ellie Taylor Cruz. Yeah, a really nice job by Spencer Steer and Anderson been really close to play at third base but decides to go to first. They’re going to walk intentionally walk Ellie de la Cruz. So Ellie sent to first men at the corners with one out for Will Benson who put the ball in play reached out an E6. A hot potato drop by Bryce Tang later scored the tying run in the ninth and they’re going intentionally well. They want Benson on, I assume, because of the profile of how the right-handed Anderson throws, right? You’re you’re affording the extra force all over the place and you want him right on right against Austin Hayes. Yep. So, that’s already 10 intentional walks for Dale Cruz this year. Now Chris Hook out to talk strategy against Hayes. That is the first career intentional walk of Will Benson. He was getting pitched around a bit in TripleA. A little different here. Yeah. You know, this conversation on the mound is all about quality of your pitchers. Pitches. You saw the success of the Reds have had. Noel Vi Marte with the base hit to right field. Trevinho the base hit to right field. Elevated sinkers. You got to make sure that this ball is playing that planing down to get the ground ball. You look for the ground ball to the infield. Matter of fact, they’re bringing the outfielders in a little closer. Anything deep, ball game is over. First pitch is by third. Reds win. Hayes hammers it down the line. Fredel scores. The Reds remain the only team in the majors this year yet to suffer a sweep defeat and they break the Brewers longest ever in season winning streak. It dies at 14. And after the home run from the Brewers, I felt the Reds finally took advantage of a mistake that was made late in the ball game defensively by the Brewers. They capitalized on that and then in this inning just executed the sacrifice bunt and then the base hit with the bases loaded. Well done right there. Look for a pitch you can drive. Hanging breaking ball from Anderson. That ball blistered down the left field line. Broke the losing streak and the winning streak of these Brewers. Hardest hit ball by a red today. Their most important hit ball on the day. And that’s something that might reverb even beyond winning this game. Can that get Hayes going as well when he’s been at his best? This Red’s offense has been its most consistent best of the year. Well, it’s going to have to come from somewhere. Austin Hayes, Miguel Andrew Hard, Noelvie Marte, those guys hitting behind Ellie de la Cruz, they’re going to have to step up. This was a great start.

The Reds tie it in the 9th and walk it off in the 10th to snap the Brewers 14-game winning streak!

  1. Contreras sure made it fun at the end there, but everything can't go your way all the time. What an amazing run for this great team of baseball players! Go Crew!

  2. I admitted I thought the Reds were done in this series vs the Brewers. To the Brewers fans out there I give your team credit because your team don't go away at all and this was an entertaining series to watch although I'm a long time Reds fan of 49 years. So man when Emilio Pagan gave up the two run HR to William Contreras I just thought the momentum the Reds had kept from most of the season was fading away. Then Jose Trevino comes with a big RBI single to tie it and then Austin Hays RBI walk off single wins it in the tenth inning to keep the Reds close to the Mets in the NL wildcard race. So like I said I give the Brewers credit to how they kept that 14 game winning streak until today because their team got the fight, heart there. Reds needed the win there to hopefully keep going and somehow try to get the NL wildcard there. Go Reds

  3. Love and Respect to my Brewers…To my Reds fans great game…Milwaukee let's reset and start all over again… Small thing to the heart of a Brewer … 2-1 our way ..#1 Road record … #1 in MLB …LET'S MOVE ON ..AND to all the commentators that don't address us Properly…WE ARE THE BEST TEAM IN MLB ..NOT JUST THE Team with the BEST RECORD 👌… You right we haven't done anything until we get that trophy..WE COMING FOR THAT WORLD SERIES TROPHY..2025 THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS 💯

  4. Winning streaks doesn’t last forever but they were so close to tying their franchise winning streak record! (16 games) 😮

  5. I don't think Anderson would be the man on the mound with a 1 point lead, bottom of the 9th in the playoffs… Idc who pitched the game before…!!!

  6. Should have won the game, but some of the coaching decisions at the end of the game were mind boggling. BTW, anyone going to tell Christian Yelich to swing at the strikes and not the balls that aren't even close?

  7. How kind of MLB to share 30 min of highlights when the Brewers lose while never in many years of watching every win sharing more than 12 minutes. MLB doesn't deserve teams with heart like MKE…
