Braves vs. Guardians Game Highlights (8/17/25) | MLB Highlights

More sunshine today here at progressive field as we get ready for the series finale. Well, hopefully the Guardians find a way to take care of Michael Harris and the Atlanta Braves and avoid the sweep here this afternoon as we mentioned a beautiful day this afternoon as Logan Allen goes against the Atlanta Braves trying to give the Guardians an opportunity to win the series finale. A couple of fly ball outs on four pitches for all that bring up Junior. The pitch is swing and Miss struck him out and impress the first inning for Logan Allen. No score in the bottom of the first inning, Eric Fetty on the mound. 22 pitch swung on and missed not easy to strike out Steven Kwan and he just struck him out. How about that? For a start, Steven Kwan coming in had half his Guardians hits in the series. Four out of the eight team hits in the last two games have come off his bat. So a great start for Eric there. That’s terrific, nice feather in the cap there for Fetty one down for Daniel S Schneeman to left tailing away from profar and a diving catch for jurickson right there on the line, man. What a play by profar and he may have hurt his throwing hand. He slid on that rubberized turf. Heck of an effort though by jerks and profi left for jose Ramirez change up eric Betty looking really good right out of the gate. A 123 inning complete with strikeouts and ramirez Michael Harris is everything in sight for Atlanta. He has been a real problem longest in Braves history, consecutive multi hit games. He has a look at the name in the middle of that board. Hank aaron. If you’re on the board with him , you’re doing something very, very special, swung on, popped him up playable. This is near the pitchers mound. Everybody’s meeting there and nobody caught it diving attempt by Mansard and he came up short just to the right of the mound. I think guys were having trouble deciding who wanted it and maybe fighting that so a little bit. And the next thing, you know, Mansard dove toward the mound and was short of the ball that has to be caught by somebody Ozzie who is one for nine in the series topped it off the plate. Schneeman tried to go to the bare hand, nothing doing two on one out. And now the Braves have a chance for an opportunity to get on the board first again and the Braves have him at 1st and 2nd with one down and now he’s got to come on the plate. It’s three and one. You don’t want to load them up if possible. But he just did. He walked a guy that was one for his last 31. And now you’ve got to deal with Nacho Alvarez who wasn’t hitting at all. And Then last night had three consecutive hits to third. Goes to second. There’s one on the first, not in time and the Braves take the lead one to nothing. It was one slight pick up and the transfer from Schieman to Martinez give Alvarez his second RB I in the series. Atlanta leads one to be, he misses on four straight. So Manzo with the leadoff walk in the second. Here’s Brian Rochel softly to Matt Olsen spinning and firing. He makes that look easy. That is out number two, Roko at first on the fielder’s choice. He’s gone. It was a ball and it didn’t matter because was a dead duck. They call him unless he got the hand around. It looked like Allen was sitting there. Braves were walking off the field. What a slide by roo and the Braves are not going to challenge now because that’s a great slide and ends up drawing a walk to keep the inning alive. Another, he’s asking for trouble here. He’s already walked two and the runners will get a head start. There are the runners and the 32 pitches rifled the deep right field and he just hooked it foul. This one he hit but just was t kiss the pole as it went by. But now another opportunity, runners will move and it’s high ball four. He has walked and loaded. So three walks in the inning and on Martinez to the plate, the pitch swung on grounded to second. All these will throw out Martinez fed walks the bases loaded and somehow gets out of it. Bottom of the third, top of the order, stephen Kwan up, the one pitch swung on a little blue chop into shallow right base hit for Stephen Kwan. Now, Daniel s broke his back doesn’t stay fair. Yes, it does. Right on the chuck and a fan reached over and touched him. So that’ll keep him at 2nd and 3rd. That would have been a triple. I’m pretty sure for the speedy steam and the way that ball would have kind of stay right on that wall into the corner and it hits chalk and this is what it does. It just bounces a little too high and that’s where the fan touch. It probably would have went into the seats. So the frustration is real. But, and the one guy that frustrated that to play, let’s see if he can get a good at bat. He was not happy about what happened in his first at bat. You can tell Jose is just fit to be tied right now. It’s four strikeouts for fty one out. Here’s Mazard in the air to get it done. Pro coming in, tagging up his ball, drop, drop the ball and will be able to score standing. He made a mistake. He was trying to throw it before he caught it and it came out and my goodness, they get on the board that makes us even because they shouldn’t have had their first run. Absolutely. But more importantly, instead of two outs, they now have runners 1st and 2nd 1 down for Bo Naylor , make it hurt deep right field down the line. It goes, it’s fair into the corner. Go ahead run score. Schneeman is home. Manzo stops at third and the Guardians not only lead for the first time today, they lead for the first time in this series, but now a chance to really put a big number on the board with only one out. Brian Roo coming to the plate. Oh, Olson made the catch and he’ll double them off at third and the inning. That was a gift, a lightning bolt that turned into a double play and here comes Nolan Jones. He bunts third base side good bunt charging clubbing as Alvarez throws safe at first base is Jones with a bunt base hit. The batter swung on line drive right field that will get down for a base hit moving up 90 ft to second is Jones and Kwanzaa board with his third straight multi hit game in this series. Two on two gone for Daniel Schneeman. Stan drives one to right on the run of Cunha. He does, can’t get it. It’ll go to the wall. Joe scores here comes stephen. He scores two all the way to third with a two run. Triple is Daniel S and it’s 41. Cleveland. There’s that bit of good fortune that finally has smiled on Cleveland this weekend and he finally got his triple Logan Allen facing Nick Allen, no relation and he lines that base hit to left center Guan racing over to cut it off and he’ll hold him to a leadoff single here in the fifth. The 31 ripped to third diving stop to his feet throws to first at first. What a play by Daniel Siemen. We haven’t seen him there at third base that often, but that’s as good a play by a third baseman you’ll see in the big leagues. Aha walks the inning still alive for Atlanta with runners at 1st and 2nd. Pick up play at second and it skips into center field to his feet. Headed to third is Allen and he will make it and moving up to second is a and that’s huge. Now, it’s a couple of men in scoring position on the throwing error by Logan Allen that misses and now you’ve got red hot Michael Harris coming to the plate with the bases loaded. Here we go 32 ground ball to second, the low throw safe. A runner scores two errors in the inning for Cleveland and it’s 4 to 2. Well, that is unbelievable. And what a break. Another one here for the Atlanta Braves, thanks to the defense of the Cleveland Guardians and that is going to knock Logan Allen out of this game. He is furious because he had a lead thought he got through five and it didn’t happen. And the troubles defensively for the Guardians continuing right into the fire comes Nick and Wright enters with the bases loaded. Two outs. Ozzie Albes, the batter left field sinking base hit. Another run is in, it’s 4 to 3 fresh off his first career three hit game, not show Alvarez leading off for the Braves and the pitch ripped inside the bag at third down the left field line. Rick is off the side wall into the corner and Alvarez with a double, let’s see how Allen plays this man on second. Nobody out in right with the pitch. They know he’s got it. He’s got it. He certainly does for the bunt man had plenty of time to make the adjustment on the run to go to foul territory slide and make that play. Now we’re going back to the top of the lineup and profar coming on. Uh 00, it’s gone with a two run homer pro far looked like he was out on his front foot and almost looked like he one handed that into the seats in right for a two run homer and the Braves who had one point trail 4 to 1 now lead 5 to 4 in the sixth two down seventh inning, 5 to 4. Atlanta catcher Bone to the plate. Bo Naylor is two. That’s his third straight hit in the ball game. Broch. Reps one to left field. Bo hits the bag at second. He’ll hold there and so back to back two out singles in the seventh giving the Guardians a little life here and coming on deck to pinch it is David Fry, the 12 got him swinging Fry ends the inning with a pinch hit strikeout. And after seven, Braves stay on top 5 to 4 right and Pierce Johnson is on the pitch for the Braves who lead 5 to 4 in the bottom of the eighth. So far here he’s thrown one straight to two batters and that’s ball four. It wasn’t even close. Here’s stephen Kwan two for four today. Third game in this series, Kans had a multi hip performance. Guan bunts it up in the air and it’s an easy first out of the inning. So juan trying to bunt the runners over fouls out to the third baseman. Here’s Daniel Siemen swung on chopper to first Olson charges. Gloves makes the play at first. Now, Jones at third Martinez at second two down for Jose ramirez. He’s just been intentionally walked, you talk about respect. He’s earned it. And ryan Snitker says, I know he’s zero for 11. I don’t care. I’m not letting jose Ramirez beat me and kyle Manzo can make the Braves pay. The ultimate price swung on, socked high in the air to center back goes, Harris plenty of room. We go to the ninth Braves five Guardians four K smith going on the pitch the night Marcelo Zuna to lead it off the pitch right back to the mound by Ozuna. He gets 40 ft down the line, makes a U turn and throws him out. Here’s Michael Harris, Michael Harris one for four today. You figure, well, it’s a slam dunk. He’s going to get his ninth consecutive multi hit game, but it hasn’t happened to. This is careful. He’s so well. He got his, slowed it down. All right, arias has it and throws him out and that will bring up Ozzie Alvis Mazard will take it himself. Kate Smith sets him down 123. R Iglesias is aboard to try to close it out. He’s in a good groove right now. 10 straight scoreless appearances reached out, poked it right through base it fourth straight hit of the afternoon for Bo Naylor. So there you go. There’s a start to the night and a good one. Now, Brian Rochel singled his last time up. He got him. That was a good pitch down and in it had the plate and it locked him up good fastball. Now Gabriel Arias gets his first at bat of the afternoon profar and makes a spectacular catch. Be Naylor has to race back to first two down. He’s made a couple of diving catches today and I’ll tell you he had a brutal error in the third inning, but he’s made two fantastic catches outside of that last hope for the Guardians is Nolan Jones struck him out. That will do it. Braves sweep the series. They come to Cleveland and win all three. Today was the only game in the series in which Atlanta trailed and they still came back to get the W.
