Sunday Sweeping | Royals Bats Catch Fire Late vs. White Sox

Welcome to the oven. It is 94 degrees as an actual temperature but it feels like 99 on the field. The Royals have won 24 of their last 27 with the White Sox and that includes the last 13 here at Kauffman Stadium and now ryan Berger, a two point 87 A and the league is hitting a combined 179 against him. Mike Tuchman is 0 to 7 in the series with a walk and a swing and a miss got him with the slider. So a good start for the Royals right hander and now he’ll deal with Laine Soa whacks one into deep left center field and it is gone. Leine Sousa keeps it going another homer seven in 18 games for Sosa, not only 1/16 home run , but he’s driven in his 50th run and that was a no Doubter and he made this look small 1 to 0. White Sox and Colson Montgomery lefties are hitting 141 this year against Berger. He’s already struck out one lefty and now he has struck out two. Here’s Miguel Vargas slider. So three sliders are good for three strikeouts in Davis Mart-n going to the mound for his 18th start, 19th appearance overall. Just over 100 innings worked in the, er, a just over four. This won’t surprise you but Bobby Witt Junior goes into today with a 17 game hitting streak against the White Sox 32 is rolled to the shortstop. Montgomery will scoop and throw and he gets Bobby Witt Junior. Number two. Here’s Patino, He’s back in the lineup. He had to leave early after one at bat last night, he succumbed to the heat. It’s one high and deep to center field. Baldwin underneath the Royals go down 123 and at the end of one white Sox won Royals. Nothing run away for Sox catcher Edgar Cuero. That one right back up the middle by edgar Caro. Scared Berger a bit on the way through a single nerd. Two men out next up is Chase Maroth. That swing. That’s a good swing. And that’s going to be a, it’s going to skip by Yastrzemski and roll deep and Carro is going to be a tremendous relay throw by jonathan India. Yastrzemski hustled after the miss and it’s a perfectly executed play and the Royals prevent a run outstanding comes Salvador Perez. Well, it’s just like that. A changeup sets him down. Nice stuff fromMart-n. Mart-n. He kind of surprises, swings at everything anyway, this is out of the zone. Davis Mart-n with his first strikeout six up six down and at the end of 21 to nothing, Mart-n has been awfully good. Eight up, eight down and now it’s the Royals catcher swung on and missed strike. Three Royals have not reached base through three innings against davis. Mart-n. Mart-n has retired the first nine today with a lot of outs on the ground. Jastremski has seven hits as Roy coming back on a 32 off the plate, he walked Yassky a leadoff walk. Here’s Bobby Witt junior, 32 runner goes pitch low and outside works a walk back to back walks and the first glimmer of an offensive chance for these Royals two on and nobody out and he’s rounded at the nine double plays this year. Second only to Salvi Perez ground ball to second. My drop goes to Coulson bounce, throw the return in time and suddenly it’s a runner at third base with two outs. That ball hit into the gap in right center field on the play is talk Royals come away empty handed. We go to the fifth inning, 1 to 0. White Sox myth right down the middle strike three called a walk on four pitches to put two on with one out and that’s Berger’s second walk Sousa has homered and he has struck out out over the plate and lifted into right center field. The runners go back to tag Rave makes the catch and one runner moves up. Baldwin goes to third and that’s two outs with runners at 1st and 3rd for the rookie Colson Montgomery Berger strikes him out once again, the White Sox fail to take advantage two up two down for Jonathan India walked him on the inside cutter. Here is Rave swing and a miss a cutter finishes off the fit for Davis Mart-n without a hit through five. Ryan Burger’s been good. He did give up a home run in the first inning. He’s worked around traffic on the bases. Now he gets Miguel Vargas leading off the sixth for Chicago and a wave and a miss and a strike out on a fastball. That’s seven on the day for Ryan Burger be the former Royal andrew Bennett and the left handed hitter. He’s been up twice launches after the 10 pitch. This one in the left and misplayed out there by Frazier. Benintendi will head to second. They have a man in scoring position with one down for their catcher Edgar Carro 21 through the left side. Benintendi is gonna be sent Frazier with the throw and it is not in time. The white Sox get another edgar Caro coming up. Big Benintendi scores two nothing sox sox are gonna run on him every chance they get normal left fielder. You probably don’t run in this situation. So that is going to be it for Burger. He’s going to be taken down. He did a nice job but he didn’t get through six but he goes through five and a third but he gets a nice hand from the crowd sox on top two to nothing looking for more so far, a no hitter being thrown against the Royals today. Davis Mart-n has only allowed three walks. Two of those walks were back to back. Let’s get a hit, struck out swinging at a cutter his first time up but taken the lead poked out to right easy play for Tauchman and he put it away out number one in the sixth, Mike Yastrzemski fly ball slicing down the left field line and it’s going to be a fair ball. It lands on the fair side of the line rolls over into foul territory, be pick up there and into second with a double. The first hit of the day for the Royals is mike Yastrzemski and there will be no history in Kansas City today as Mart-n gives up his first hit, no earned runs, only three walks. He did a nice job. Now he’s handing the ball over to Steve Wilson. Two up, two down. Here’s Frazier that is inside the line. Taylor gets to it before it hit the side wall but he’s got no chance to get Frazier and the Royals have a runner at second base with two down. The Royals have two hits in seven innings. India is 0 to 1 with a walk, 1 to 0 need to live has splash down to tie the game in the seventh inning. That is his third home run in eight games since moving down in the order. What a shot. And so timely and he said, when he throws me one of those sweepers, I’m going to lift it out of here. He felt that it knew it and it’s a whole new game and the crowd comes to life with Bobby Wood Jr Away. He’s zero for two with a walk 96 in 103 out. And that’s the go ahead run with wit at first and Garcia coming up, let’s see if wit is more inclined to take off second and Bobby got a huge lead, Michael saw it and the go ahead run is in scoring position, ground ball right side. It’s through, here’s junior and the Royals lead in the bottom of the eighth. You want a two strike hitter, there you go. Garcia moves up on an error. Salvi a really good opposite field hitter when the situation pertains he knows what they need lifted to center goes. Baldwin all the way back and it’s off the wall and now they have two in the bottom of the eighth. Adam Frazier and Frazier hits it high and deep to right field. Tauchman is at the adam Frazier. What a beauty. The Royals scoring late and the new record is 13 straight wins at home against the White Sox and they’re three outs away from making it 14 in a row. Carlos been very steady opponents don’t do a whole lot of him, another hard hit ball and that is the game, but the offense coming late was exciting and explosive and more home runs so good. And they have won 14 in a row against the White Sox here at Kauffman Stadium, extending their franchise record against one team.

Jonathan India’s 451′ home run spurred a Royals comeback win to earn a sweep over the White Sox!

  1. Can we all admit that Denny Matthews is the worst play by play guy in the history of MLB? Hall of fame? That's like admitting Phillip Rivers to Canton because he played so long. Listen to Joe Buck call the end of the Series in 2015 and then listen to Denny. It's embarrassing. He needs to retire.

  2. "succumbed to the heat"? Do these guys know the Royals used to play on Astroturf and the actual on field temp would be 115, not including humidity? Nobody took the day off.
