He grew up in Whitefish Bay, when his dad worked for the Brewers, presumably in 1987 when Craig was playing at Whitefish Bay HS and the Brewers first earned free burgers, then did multiple stints as a player for the brewers (2004, 2007-2011) and was manager (2015-2023) when the team won 12 in a row and earned the city free burgers in 2018.

“Honestly, I’ve never seen a George Webb,” Counsell said, referring to the restaurant, not the person.

  1. Honestly, I’ve never really seen first place as manager of the Cubs.
    Also Greg Counsell.

  2. When he was in high school there was one on Oakland near Kensington right on the edge of Whitefish bay and Shorewood. So I find it unlikely that he never saw that one.

  3. Makes more sense that he also never saw Winker’s batting average when he pinch hit him in that playoff game.

  4. I lived in MKE and burbs for a bit and never essentially saw George Webb either. Had a friend that liked it that said we needed to go there once when I was visiting them at Carol.

Otherwise they are pretty hidden in many areas looking at a map and one of the main things I remember is they look like an old hole in the wall diner.

Was there even a George Webb in Whitefish or around that area?

  5. “What’s so great about it? I mean, they’re playing good,” Counsell said. “They’re playing great. They haven’t lost since we played them.”

    Somebody is a bit salty
